I like how you can see which frequency range you are on when connected to LTE that's going to be useful when tri band devices are released.

I wonder if Sprint will reuse any equipment (mainly panels) from clearwire's current setup and move the equipment down to the sprint rack (on colocated towers) and install dual mode rru for TD LTE/WiMax installs. For cost savings on NV towers. Also will sprint build out more TD LTE to just more than the top 100 cities. Even if it is just a couple sites here and there in small towns?

LTE is just a marketing term.

You are correct I failed to mention that. I believe at some point sprint is going to turn a good bit of the GMO sites into full build sites where it makes sense.

Also I think the storms are effecting the NV roll out in FL

OK I see what you were saying I thought for some reason they were going to install on clear wire sites and/or equipment racks on co-located sprint towers. It didn't make sense to me since in two years sprint will likely shut down wimax like they did with iden.

For 2500 they need to install a new rru that supports lte/wimax modes and carrier card since the current rru on the clearwire sites only support wimax.

Wouldnt sprint add panels to their existing nv sites and not to the existing clear wire sites In markets where clear wire hasn't done any LTE work yet

I was feeling the same way until i stumbled upon this site. Without Robert I would have paid my ETF and left. Then I saw NV visions potential on this site. All I can say is that if sprint isn't working for you then you have to go with what works for you. My service has gotten better on the north side by far. Only if sprint could activate CDMA 800 in Middleburg (where I work) I will be in heaven.

Well, by the time my upgrade comes Jan 1st the city should be blanketed with 1900 LTE. Sprint should be rolling out 800 and 2500 LTE service and I'll be a happy camper with unlimited LTE citywide. Once NV work is done for 1900. 800 should be a breeze and I believe that 2500 requires an additional panel and base station card. By this time next year we should be in good shape.

Sprint has LTE showing on their coverage map on sprint.com. they exaggerated a little on the coverage especially on the south side of town aka the black hole.

What's up with the underlined cities? I'm in Jacksonville Florida is the reason I asked. Also I agree that Jacksonville shouldn't be on the list there's a big chunk of the south side that isn't covered at all.

Do we know if 800SMR CDMA/LTE and 2.6ghz TD-LTE have started being deployed in Jax? I haven't seen anything that would indicate work has started on these two bands yet in the Jax area. I could be wrong and sincerely hope that I am!!!!! Because I haven't heard of work being started on them, I gave it a year timetable.

 

BTW, if there is anything I can do to help the Jax Sprint 4GRU community, let me know. We own some great DSLR equipment with some very long lenses. I've been wanting to spend some time tower spotting in the area when I have time.

Well they are starting on 800 and 2.5 now. So by the time the 1900 LTE starts to get slow their will be 800 and 2.5 will be online. People like me that has the first generation of LTE devices (evo lte, s3, viper, etc) will be up for upgrade and can choose from tri band devices.

Which ISP is sprint using for backhaul in Jacksonville city?

Something strange is going on. In the Ocala area Robert has 3 LTE towers that have been accepted this month and none of them are live. I have been to all 3 and can see that the new panels and ruus and fiber is present but I wonder why they are not on when normally they come on right away

This usually happens to me in Jacksonville. The site is accepted then it takes days up to two Weeks for the signal to become active. I believe Robert spoke about this in a thread here before.

Does anyone here think that since sprint is basically going the unlimited minutes route that sprint will add a WiFi calling feature to their phones like T-Mobile?

Anyone else having 4g LTE issues? My device is having trouble with 4G after just a few minutes. It seems like it's going to sleep and staying asleep forever until I toggle airplane mode then it works for 5 minutes again. Could this potentially be a bad radio?

Well, I have an Evo LTE so I don't know of there's any issues. Anytime I have a problem I assume its the phone.

Any word on when is completion almost here. Internet speed is horrible on 3g AT Atlantic and Kernan.

 

I Think by the time sprint is done , especially with the 800, IT Will be behind again. Im seriously thinking tot changing service. I've Been with sprint for 12 years but speeds are worse thank metro pcs or straitalk...And they are unlimited too.

The work in that area may already be done but the site may not be accecpted. You may want to check out towers in the area to see if you recognize any nv work. Jacksonville has progressed a lot in the past six months. Iirc the whole market should be complete by years end.

I saw some workers on a tower on Blanding blvd just past Brannan-Field road across from Middleburg high school. When I'm back over that way on Tuesday I'll check for nv panels

Well hopefully when this deal goes through that the new sprint will make more info available for Robert and his staff. Since these dudes saved sprint a lot of customers including myself. I feel that without this site most people would have jumped ship. Also, a donation from the new sprint to this site would be nice too.

Does anyone think that sprint will look at adding TD LTE to more high traffic sites that they didn't consider the first go around due to lack of funding? Even those that are not in urban areas.
