  1. I'm pretty sure iPhones purchased at the Apple Store have an activation fee, and they are a manufacturer.  The only waiver of activation fee I'm still aware of on Sprint is if you have the Credit Union discount.

    Robert

Or company that you work for has that in the agreement. Not sure then; I know it wasn't some random rep telling me this though.

  2. Order date: Oct 31, 2013 11:06:21 AM PDT

Got my tracking number around 1 AM this morning.  I ordered the 16GB white.

Ordered minutes 4 mines later, and nothing.

But I'm not worried when it will come, just as long as it comes in those 3 to 5 business days, I'm good.

  3. Wait, are you reading the comments? That's always a bad idea.

Any device that's never been activated on the network will incur an activation charge. It may or may not be charged right away, or may show up on your bill at a later day.

Its true! I just got confirmation along with it being noted in my account that it will be waived. Was also told that if a phone is bought from the manufacture, Sprint won't charge any activation fee. Great way to avoid that fee.

  4. *I didn't see it answered in totality so I figured I would put this out there.  :)

Internal docs specifically say that Google Play store devices MUST be activated in store.  They will not have the UICC SIM card that is needed to activate on the Sprint Network. It also says that each store will only be *initially sent 5 of these SIM cards BUT there will be NO CHARGE for the SIM *from the corporate stores. I have no idea about the "repair" shop as someone mentioned earlier.

With that said, it will not, for sure, be able to be activated on the phone or otherwise as the essential piece of hardware needed to run on our beloved Sprint Network is not supplied with the Google Play sold devices.

Cool thanks! Do you know if we are being charged $36? Why bother paying if I don't have to. ><

  5. Well I do have to disagree with you 2 disagreements with me, I recently went to LA and turned off my LTE and I was ringing in 8mbps and some 11. So I tried the LTE and wow what a difference. Also I know the guy in sprint who is one out of many assigned to oversee 4G LTE conversion. He mentioned in order to maintain a strong 4G LTE network you have to improve the current network. I been on Verizon and there 3G SUCKS!! Between ABQ and Gallup. Why cause a contact of mine said Verizon was to focused on 4G LTE and didn't wanna invest time into improving there 3G out of ABQ limits. Now with Sprint I get excellent 3G between ABQ & Gallup. Point is sprint I assume are taking this slow & easy cause they want to do it RIGHT! hell the verizon store on coors by pass near costco believes that sprints 4G LTE network is really 4G WIMAX.

I stopped reading when you said you got 8/11 Mbps in LA with 3G.

Verizon will say anything to customers to make others sound bad. Verizon in Albuquerque doesn't have true 4G LTE at all! More like 3.5 G because they use microwaves instead of fiber, besides like two towers in town. They got fed up with CenturyLink as they were taking way too long to install it.

Your claim seems invaild, but no one is threating you or anything, just trying to provide accutate information.

  6. Some friends of mine who work for sprint told me this......sprint needs to upgrade there 3G network to be almost at par with 4G LTE, once that is complete then 4G LTE is underway. I have been told 2 things either sprint will launch 20% of the city of ABQ in December and late Summer 2014 full 100% 4g lte and I been told full 100 by January 2014. The reason southern & southeastern NM have got 4g lte is the company who is upgrading is working south from El Paso to Denver. A sprint employee told me there servers for the SW USA are in El Paso. I have seen some new tower installs near cottonwood area on the power line towers near Intel. I also was watching some videos on you tube near movies 8 and the video was soooo clear I mean clear, usually that means more Mbps is happening. I also have been receiving faster speeds near cottonwood mall, near 12th st & Indian school, and Montgomery Carlise & San Mateo area.

We all know that Sprint employee's don't really know what's going on with the NV. They just know that its going to happen within 3 to 6 months. Only the people who are currently assigned to the task know what's going on.

But two reason's why I don't think your statement is right is.

    1. CenturyLink is to blame for the slow fiber install. Look at Verizon.

    2. Why would Sprint make 3G a top priority? LTE is their priority right now along with revamping the whole network. Yes we are getting 3G updates, but so is all the other markets.

  7. Has anyone been to the west side to see if any of their towers have begun work? I think last I looked, I only saw one tower in progress west of the river.

I live on the westside, but I don't ever seen any trucks around from my point of view.

Another wave of acceptances and not one acceptance in the ABQ Market. hmmm... I am starting to get scared the ABQ will be the last possible place for LTE.

    :td:
