According to the article Verizon is implementing it in rural locations with minimal broadband options.
And for where I live, I have minimal broadband options, so something like this would benefit me.
In that case, yea.. it could be useful.. but 10GB still isn't much data for a primary home internet connection.
-
-
I hope Sprint does not do this... I don't want that kind of load on the new network. As per VZW, 10GB for a home internet connection... 60 bucks?? Fail! I have come close to 10gb via my Sprint phone using 3G on a few occasions.
-
I would open mine and use it until my upgrade date in December or early next year.
Yea.. your timing would work out pretty well. If my upgrade was that soon.. I'd probably do the same.
-
I'm hoping it'll be me!
Or me!! I think I'd keep the box sealed though and turn around and sell the G-Nex... And then go by the next EVO/One X or GSIII. Unless the G-Nex has some improvements (as in, its the G-Nex Plus thats been rumored), I think I'd rather get the next flagship EVO or GSIII.

If they beat ATT and their plethora of scandalous lobbyist's, no reason why they cant win here too.

As has been mentioned many times before, the $10/month fee is for premium data not Clearwire, WiMAX, or 4G -- whether or not that was originally the case, it is the case now. And based off of its quarterly reports, Clearwire appears to receive ~$7/mo ARPU for wholesale Sprint subs.
AJ
Now does Clearwire get that 7 a month for every wimax phone in use? Just thinking, even though I'd rather not have the fee at all if I'm not in 4G coverage, I do understand its for every smartphone now... I'd just rather see it go to Sprint then Clear for those not in 4G coverage. Just seems like Sprint would put it to better use with NV being deployed. Kinda bogus if Clear gets it in these particular cases.. IMO.

I know I'm taking a long shot here, but it would be nice to know if Phoenix or Tucson would be included in this years deployment.
I live in Yuma AZ and usually get upgraded once Tucson gets their upgrades.
I'm Thinking (read: hoping) Phoenix will start this year, however if it is, pry not starting till late in the year. (fingers crossed!) We should find out here in the next week or so, I would imagine. Heres looking forward to more S4GRU.com updates!

I saw that on youtube last week... I definitely think its an improvement... Plus, they got a big-name individual involved for a change. I'll be even more excited when the commercials are pertaining to Network Vision and/or new LTE phones.
-
Any and all, but the iPhone... oh, wait...
-
I don't think the total number of subscribers has anything to do with it. However, the percentage of those users on smartphones likely does. There is a huge number of people upgrading/converting from basic "dumb-phones" to data-hungry smartphones... so, basically, too many EVO's and iPhones are on the network now. You're right, in 2010, data speeds were great, speeds often in excess of 2MB down on 3G (at least here in PHX and everywhere else my extensive, daily travels brought me), but have declined since.
I believe that the Network Vision upgrades Sprint is currently implementing will improve all of this... which is one of the things it is designed to do.

Yea that would be pretty sweet! But honestly I'd be completly happy if I could just maintain those "lower" speeds through the day. For what I do on my phone speeds in the 500-600 kbps range are fine. As long as music streams great, and video streams don't stop and buffer while playing I am good to go.
Couldn't agree more with you on that, man. Id be more than happy with just solid 1mb(ish) speeds. I'm really looking forward to the 4G LTE and all.. but I would be happy with consistent, solid 3G. Network Vision cannot come fast enough. If they stay on track.. I'll sign another contract no questions asked... if the plan takes some major stall... I'll probably reconsider. (I like Sprint, so my fingers are definitely crossed.)

Definitely wait. You have to constantly remind yourself that you'll be stuck with this phone for the next 22 months. That makes it critically important to select a phone that is not going to see its eol or end of life while you're still contract. For example, I bought the evo 4g the first week of launch. Now my upgrade is due April 1st. Can you imagine the pain I'd feel if I bought that phone just six month later? I feel sorry for those people. Don't make that same mistake.
Is it 22 or 20 months now? For some reason, I thought it was only 20 months to upgrade.
Edit: Looks like its 20 months to upgrade now. https://manage.sprintpcs.com/specialoffers/RebateWelcome.do

GS III Benchmark? Hard to say.

EDIT: If you read the user comments below the article, one user suggests it could be the Sprint Galaxy Nexus instead of the GSIII. Could that be a possibility?
