From the Verizon letter: "To make your transition easier, any outstanding Device Payment Plan balance for devices purchased prior to September 12, 2017 will be waived no later than October 31, 2017".
Pretty sure Verizon isn't "shrinking coverage". Since July or so, letters have been going out to customers who are using significant amounts of data while roaming off the Verizon network.

Done.
And if appropriate and/or possible, for your consideration, a feature request:
Verizon is starting to deploy LTE on band 5. Was wondering if it's possible to add an audio alert similar to the Sprint 1X 800 alert but triggered when Verizon band 5 LTE is detected?
Yes it is rooted. Thanks for the info. EARFCN was sort of my gut feeling as well, I assume that's sort of "unprocessed data" taken from the modem commands available at /dev/smd11.
So hopefully it's ok to ask a SCP question as it relates to T-Mobile on this forum. Question is which should I believe, SCP telling me "LTE 700" or the EARFCN? Clearly they disagree. I suspect this really wasn't Tmo band 12 in Phoenix as TV channel 51 has not moved yet. This is a Nexus 6P.
I'd say the jury is still out on returning to the old radio, seems inconclusive based on the various reports so far. I suppose it's possible Google introduced a bug in the 6.0.1 system/telephony code independent from the radio.
Others here http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/lte-issues-6-0-1-radio-canadian-carriers-t3267270 are having the same issue. A couple people have reported that flashing the old radio (.2.6.1.c4-00005-M8994FAAAANAZM-1) does NOT fix the problem, some have reported that it does.
