  1. I think their more typical pattern is to have a good idea, publicly disclose it, then take a while to give it funding, then begin, then financial numbers don't quite come in as expected so accounting pulls out the rug from underneath the project.

i just want sprint to continue improving.... I m on boost mobile and I would hate to see it become part of dish...at the point I would dish them out a port out...

  2. Best performing network within two years, which never happen

That is right. They bragged and then lied about the network the past two years. Obviously there’s been improvements which is obviously very evident. But they have not risen to what they said in the advertising. I find that to be deceptive. I get it improving a network cost a lot of money which sprint obviously doesn’t have.

I have noticed in South Jersey a improvement in band 41 deployment. On the route I drive in South Jersey sprint actually has extremely consistent LTE coverage.

It seems like it. He went into a bit more detail and said that in the area he was in, they've been deploying on all of their mmWave sites on their macro sites. As a result, site spacing is about every two blocks. With clear line of site and being the only person on the network he was able to max out their 80MHz of mmWave spectrum. However, if PCMag's test of Verizon's network proves anything, it's that anything blocking your line of sight will make your signal drop, including leaves on a tree.

Well let’s see what TMobile does to nullify the problem. But at this point I’ve stopped caring about 5G this and what not. But good for them at least getting it tested.

  4. Yes, no one needs that speed on their phone. But I see it as a proxy for how much capacity is available, since the network is currently unloaded. So in that sense, 800+ Mbps means that a site can handle a lot of traffic without getting congested, vs 400 Mbps means it can absorb about half as much traffic before becoming congested.

Also I find that type of speed on a cellphone ridiculous. unless it's some type of data have the application like virtual reality or something that takes up a ridiculous amount of bandwidth. I mean for Pete's sake I have a gigabit internet connection in my home. And I don't even use half that bandwidth.

  5. I know everyone has different needs.  30-50 download and 20-40 upload seem to be sufficient for me.  Coverage is my biggest concern.  I hate to get out on the highway somewhere and not get a signal.
Obviously I don't like that either. Coverage needs to be ubiquitous.

  6. Sprint & T-Mobile will not be divesting any spectrum, not when Dish has plenty of spectrum. As I explained before Dish can be an MVNO of Sprint/T-Mobile and Sprint-Tmobile can host Dish's 600Mhz and AWS-3 holding right away. While they're at it they can also host Comcast's 600Mhz.
Then the government should compel dish to sell the spectrum. Because those backwards morons aren't even using it.

  7. Sprint doesn't have the cash to do anything with additional spectrum on their own.   They can barely use what they have now let alone fix the backhaul issues.
I do understand to that they have a considerable amount of debt. but with a bit more strategizing and not giving away free service they could hopefully make a positive cash flow.

  8. If you read the article, the DOJ is negotiating with Charter, Comcast and I believe they tossed it over to Google too.   Dish was not offered because they are not believed to have the funds to establish a network.   I don't get this either as I'm sure many of you won't.  Seems the DOJ is way out of bounds with this info.    I would think they'd want Dish to start utilizing their spectrum also.   I don't know how much of this is real or rumor... time will tell.    I think this merger has been stretched to ridiculous levels - never seen before.    Too offer this to Comcast is a slap in the face and offers special treatment to a company that is already a near Monopoly in the cable industry nationwide!
I'm well aware that they have a monopoly Nationwide. Plus they have a MN vo agreement with Verizon. In my opinion I'd like to see Sprint stand on its own. if they strategize in areas where their coverage is strong they can easily compete with T-Mobile on the urban level. But obviously that also takes cash.

  9. Dish doesn't have much low band, I believe. They do have some 600Mhz. But the bulk of their spectrum is in AWS and PCS H block as well as some satellite bands converted for terrestrial use
well either way that little bit of low band spectrum would give them a better position than what they have now. They really need some serious low-band spectrum in order to upscale coverage to even compete with T-Mobile. That little five-by-five slice of band 26 aka the 800 SMR band is not enough for long-term it's enough for voice coverage yes and maybe a small slice for Data but other than that they're going to need quite a bit.
