  1. I would not be surprised if it would work, and that could be the problem. Unless I am mistaken, Nextel iDEN SIMs work in unlocked GSM handsets for international roaming. Perhaps iDEN SIMs could be used with the LTE portion of Sprint handsets, allowing Nextel subs to use LTE (but not CDMA1X/EV-DO) on their current Nextel plans, and Sprint wants to avoid that complication. AJ
  2. Not gonna happen. VZW and AT&T did not build their networks; they bought them. No carrier has the wherewithal to build a nationwide urban and rural network. In this economic climate, that would be financial suicide. Who cares? Your choice of wireless carrier should not reflect upon you as a person, nor should it be something that comes up frequently in conversation. AJ
  3. I edited the title because this is not a merger. AJ
  4. Or maybe Masayoshi is looking for a father figure. Dan Hesse is clearly tall enough to pat him on the head and call him "Son." AJ
  5. A few months ago, I posed a theory why Sprint has not utilized removable SIMs in its early LTE devices but plans to do so in the future. Sprint is waiting for the iDEN sunset. iDEN handsets contain removable SIMs. Sprint does not want iDEN users hot swapping their SIMs into LTE devices. AJ
  6. Be careful. That is not accurate. There has never been any GSM in Japan. Japan's 2G standards were PDC and cdmaOne, its 3G standards W-CDMA/HSPA and CDMA1X/EV-DO. AJ
  7. For VoLTE, SRVCC (Single Radio Voice Call Continuity) is required to hand down VoLTE to W-CDMA. Apparently, SRVCC imposed a pause of greater than a second as the handoff between airlinks occurred. So, now eSRVCC is a new and improved version that reduces the interruption to *only* 300 msec. http://gigaom.com/eu...ial-deployment/ VoLTE? No thanks. CDMA1X is just dandy. AJ
  8. Sounds good. Smartphones have caused a lot of problems. I am ready to go back to those halcyon days of the late 1990s. Of course, it would not hurt that I would also be 21 years old again. AJ
  9. Maybe. As much as I despise the asshat George W. Bush administration Powell/Martin controlled FCC, their established spectrum screen makes attributable BRS 2600 MHz spectrum limited to 55.5 MHz. EBS 2600 MHz spectrum -- because it is only leased from educational institutions -- is not counted toward the spectrum screen. The problem is that the carrier asshats -- VZW, AT&T, and now, NewCo -- will pronounce to investors not to worry, will tell the public that BRS/EBS 2600 MHz spectrum is crap. Then, the two faced asshats will protest to the FCC that SoftBank-Sprint-Clearwire controls too much crap. This industry is so disingenuous. AJ
  10. Please elaborate. I do not pretend to know that much about the stock market because it is a free market sham. But if you shorted S, you are likely in trouble. AJ
  11. You inflate the impression. When you ran the speed test, not that "many simultaneous connections" were active, as AT&T 10 MHz FDD LTE with 2x2 MIMO is capable of ~75 Mbps, tops. AJ
  12. How does Clearwire factor in to the SoftBank-Sprint tie up? Take a look... http://seekingalpha.com/article/922181-as-sprint-and-softbank-talks-continue-where-does-clearwire-stand AJ
  13. There are no small fonts, only small members. AJ

  15. I think that this is the corporatist GOP rationale. Most people are ill informed. And it may be largely true, almost enough so to convince me to vote Republican. But I also know sufficient history and economics to understand that this approach is not sustainable. AJ
  16. Yep. I apologize. I had your previous post backward. For some odd reason, I read it to mean that Android data should supplement iOS data, but you meant just the opposite. My mistake. AJ
  17. No, it should not. That said, if you have a successfully connected Airave, then you should have no need for LTE in that setting. Please offload. AJ
  18. Bzzzt. Oh, I am sorry, that is wrong. The correct answer is: Android Sensorly > iOS Sensorly. Many times over. AJ
  19. Not just either...or. I say it wrong...and I have an American accent. But that is by design...and I use it to the desired effect. AJ
