  1. I am no great fan of large corporations. But in this age of social media, I would not mind seeing their legal departments pursue legitimate slander/libel litigation against some of these guys. A lot of them are posting on their phones from their crappy apartments and have no money to defend themselves. They think that the First Amendment gives them the right to say whatever they wish without responsibility. A little legal action would put them in their place, could even financially ruin some of them. AJ
  2. I am sorry, but that is ridiculous. Why would anyone install an app like that on a smartphone? A Wi-Fi tablet? Sure. A smartphone on an "unlimited" data plan? Hell no. I know I will take heat for this, but I do not care. Some of you guys need to get a grip on your smartphone usage. It does not need to satisfy all your waking needs for phone, laptop, TV, Walkman, gaming system, camera, e-penis, and e-vagina all rolled into one. This is why we really cannot have "unlimited" data... AJ
  3. Well, if you are that curious, T-Mobile W-CDMA could theoretically broadcast Sprint's MCC-MNC, too. That is what T-Mobile LTE has done for a quick fix with MetroPCS. AJ
  4. I am not sure why you are concerned with DC-HSPA+. It is going the way of the dodo, already gone from AWS in many markets. It has been moved over to PCS in some markets, but even that will not last long if T-Mobile is serious about band 2 LTE refarming. AJ
  5. Nope, not if you want CDMA2000. Ericsson infrastructure is arguably the best for CDMA2000 because Ericsson holds the intellectual property of Nortel. AJ
  6. "Unlimited" data with uncapped roaming does not work. Users can then arbitrage the system, for example, paying Sprint Framily rates and having access to better Sprint devices but living permanently in USCC native coverage. This happened frequently with Sprint affiliates and Rural Alliance partners. Such situations were not good for Sprint nor for affiliates/partners. AJ
  7. If people want all of a 1 GB quota to be usable for roaming, then they may need to be prepared to pay more for that 1 GB quota. AJ
  8. Are you talking about DC-HSPA+ or W-CDMA? The former is just an enhancement and is not necessary for general compatibility. Many AT&T devices, for example, support W-CDMA but not dual carrier. AJ
  9. On "unlimited" data, a roaming cap is required because we have a lot of people whose attitude toward wireless data is the proverbial "if possible, then necessary." If LTE is available, they have to use it out the wazoo. Cannot…resist…streaming audio…watching video…and downloading...large files. Ah, but they can resist. They just choose not to exercise self restraint. So, a roaming cap effectively imposes it for them. AJ
  10. Meh. Too many of you act as if you would even touch your handset on roaming LTE, then you would blow through your roaming data allotment. Not the case. But roaming LTE would provide advantages for even light, everyday uses, such as Web browsing, e-mail, etc. AJ
  11. Nobody. Nobody's on the tower. Nobody's in right field. AJ
  12. What's not on the tower either. What's on second. AJ
  13. Besides, Who's on first, not on the tower. AJ
  14. No one is on that tower. People usually are not on a tower unless work is being done to it. AJ
  15. He repeatedly trolls the comments following Sprint articles. His level of knowledge and discourse is roughly "Ha, Sprint sux. T-Mobile is da bomb." AJ
  16. The solution is easy. Stop running speed tests. Your e-penis may not like it, but your brain will thank you. Lose the anxiety. AJ
  17. Yeah, somebody needs a wake up call -- about forum rules and written English. AJ
  18. It is the default band 25 LTE 1900. Otherwise, SignalCheck Pro would indicate the band. AJ
  19. We have Clearwire site lists and track this distinction in the sponsor sections. If you value the info here at S4GRU, please consider becoming a sponsor at some level. All contributions just help keep the S4GRU lights on. AJ
  20. Judge Greene is long since dead. And I am getting older. But maybe I will live to see the Comcast break up consent decree. Probably not. The military-industrial complex? Ike knew what he was talking about 50 years ago. The lobby-corporation complex, that is likely what we have to live with for the next 50 years. AJ
  21. I have been very busy the last few days, but now I have some free time. I like this thread and will offer further comment. And I truly like our S4GRU community. However, I am not going to pull any punches -- for good reason -- as will be apparent in a moment. Adam G, you need to do better. Are you really going to put forth that "friendly confines" and "getting mocked" argument? I understand what you are saying. But look at the level of wireless discussion at S4GRU compared to that of other online outlets. In nearly all other cases, it is the uninformed leading the uninformed. Giving even a second thought to "getting mocked" outside of S4GRU is akin to me worrying about a dumb high school kid calling me a "douchebag" or thinking my teaching is "lame." AJ
  22. But the DoJ and FCC would let Comcast get a major market hegemony in cable??? I guess we shall see. I expect it happens. AJ
  23. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sprint should agree to divest some BRS/EBS spectrum. You have been saying this ad nauseam. The obvious buyer would be Dish, which a year or two later then would get snapped up whole by VZ or even AT&T. Yes, acquired by even AT&T previously combined with DirecTV. It already happened in DSARS with SiriusXM. It could just as easily happen with DBS. Either way the DoJ and FCC would probably approve it on the grounds that the satellite competitors could not effectively compete with terrestrial incumbents, the latter of which would be one of the anti competitive parties that sought merger approval and has generally screwed over the public good. So, how would that be so much better??? Hooray for the duopoly. AJ
