  1. I'm still confused. Aren't current plans cheaper than ED1500 anyway?

Color me confused, too.  Check out the Sprint subreddit.  Users long have been advised to stick with their Everything Data plans, as they were unbeatable sweetheart deals.  Now, Everything Data users are whining that they are being left out and shortchanged?  Talk about cognitive dissonance.

  2. This is what I'm scratching my head about.

ED1500 customers are for the most part high value, high ARPU, high ABPU customers.

How so?  Provide some numbers.  Take into account that many Everything Data subs want subsidy or loyalty credits and "unlimited" data.

And when was Everything Data last offered as a current plan?  How many years deprecated is it at this point?

  3. You are terrible at this.  You are comparing March 2016 (Sprint) data to December 2016 (Tmobile) data.

I am going to stop responding to you until you know how bad you are at this.

Have you ever heard of reporting financial statements at the end of the FISCAL year? Which ends in MARCH?

The only one who has no idea WHAT they're talking about is you.

  4. I desperately want to jump this ship. Can't get parents onboard though, they never had any other service provider than Sprint so they find the whole process complex

"Mommm, our car sucks!  It's embarrassing.  We need a new car."

"No, our car may not be great, but we are fine with it.  If you don't want to be seen in it, you can stop being a kid, be an adult, and go buy your own car."

  5. Im still amused at how Sprint decided to end the subsidies and move people to leases which in turn freed people from staying with Sprint.

If Im not stuck on a 2-year contract with a hefty ETF, why WOULDNT I jump to the best available offer on a competitor?

The entire point of contracts and ETFs was to tie people in. From a business perspective, removing the 2-year contract makes no sense.

A device lease or installment purchase still is a pseudo contract.  Terminating service accelerates the remaining lease or installment payments due.  In many cases, the remaining balance exceeds that of what would have been the ETF.  Many subs are in over their heads on device costs and cannot afford to pay off accelerated balances.

  6. It may as well be Sprint. It's not like other carriers haven't done something similar. T-Mobile added B5 to their phones due to a small slice of 850 they own in Myrtle Beach, SC.

No, that example is of little relevance.  T-Mobile added band 5 to ride on AT&T LTE coattails and to roam on AT&T W-CDMA.  The outlier Myrtle Beach market had little to do with that RFP choice.

  7. If Sprint and T-Mobile merge, Son would be wise to shut down the Kansas City HQ campus and let Bellevue take over management operations. The Sprint name should also be tossed into the same trash bin that houses Nextel.

Yeah, and we should relocate the energy industry out of Houston.  Enron ruined the civic name.

I patronize Sprint in large part because it is a local business.  The day that changes is the day that I close my 17+ year account and check out of any further interest in this industry.

Anybody who thinks that the Sprint headquarters should be ripped from the Kansas City metro can kiss my ass.

  8. Yes, but no. Although B26 covers 814-849 and 859-894, BC10 covers down to 806mhz on the uplink and 851mhz on the downlink. If Sprint were able to acquire some of the SMR spectrum below their current holdings, they could expand their B26 LTE carrier to a 10mhz FDD carrier (814-824 and 859-869) and push their 1x carrier into the spectrum below B26 but included in BC10.

Nope, still a pipe dream.  Only non cellular operations are permitted below 815 MHz x 860 MHz.  Moreover, some Sprint devices are not FCC tested/authorized in band class 10 below channel 476.

  9. "On the surface, it might seem logical to expect that Sprint would be interested in 800 MHz spectrum that recently was made available, but FCC rules associated with rebanding forbid the carrier to hold licenses for frequencies between 851 MHz and 862 MHz."

    http://m.urgentcomm.com/spectrumfrequency-coordination/fair-warning-sprint-we-can-t-buy-800-mhz-spectrum-we-just-returned-fc

I wonder if that will ever change and, that Sprint will be allowed to buy it back?

Does not matter.  Most of that spectrum is outside of band 26, is in band 27, hence incompatible with Sprint equipment.

  10. There was an instance where my searches for PCS licenses in Mecklenburg County NC (only search criteria being frequency range 1930-2000 and the state-county restriction) consistently didn't turn up WQCS421. So really my beef is with the search function.

Use the Market Based search.  Always know your Market Type (CMA, MTA, etc.) and Radio Service Code (BR, CW, etc.) for a more succinct search.

  11. As for installments, if the only option is to pay $800 or to pay $800/24 then the most financially prudent option is ALWAYS the installment. Its not about being able to afford something or not, it's about basic money management strategies.

What do you not understand about the phrase "if you have to"?  That means the only possibile way, not just an option, prudent or otherwise.  Too many cash strapped consumers -- people who do not have $800 free cash flow -- are buying $800 phones on installment.  They cannot afford those phones.  They are one minor mishap away from being on the hook for the entire sum on an accelerated basis.
