  1. You seriously are asking customer care about HPUE?! Yeah, let me ask a McDonald's cashier if a certain menu item contains hydrogenated oils. Come on, guys. You should know better than that. Just wait for the device to be delivered this afternoon, then do the damn testing yourself. AJ
  2. Does the Samsung Galaxy S3 tri band have an external SIM slot? I do not recall on the later tri band variant, but the original Galaxy S3 does not. And if no external SIM slot, then there is nothing to unlock for international roaming, which is either unsupported or limited to Sprint's international roaming agreements. AJ
  3. Sadly, no. The earlier suggestion that all of us are above average intelligence was the impetus for the riff on the Garrison Keillor quote. Truth be told, some of our S4GRU children ride the shortbus to school. AJ
  4. The fallback? The fallback would be if the merger were blocked -- and it would be. Sprint likely would receive a merger breakup fee. And VZW would have to look for a different consolidation candidate or go it alone. AJ
  5. Absolutely, VZW would acquire Sprint in a heartbeat -- if just to devour Sprint's spectrum holdings and customer base. But that degree of industry consolidation would not pass regulatory muster. AJ
  6. How can you be a participant at a wireless industry focused web site and not know the massive anti trust objections that would arise from a VZW-Sprint merger? Now, that is a serious question. AJ
  7. Welcome to S4GRU minus 4GR. SU aka SprintUsers. Thanks, everyone, for switching to other providers but sticking around to run yet another forum down into the ground. AJ
  8. Do you think Dr. John Saw appreciates being employed? Even if the company is going to shit and his hands are tied, should he stop doing his job, which includes writing a blog post? What should he do? Declare the sky is falling? Quit? Or focus on the positives? AJ
  9. Should I tell you to fix your "goddamn" cognitive dissonance? You know "goddamn" well that Saw cannot print money. And you acknowledge that the "goddamn" problem is not spectrum, which is Saw's purview. So, why in the "goddamn" hell are you harping at Saw? AJ
  10. Many will be able to cancel freely -- and then have to pay off immediately the remaining ~$300 balance per device on their installment plans. Maybe not so "freely" after all. AJ
  11. Even if a customer is minimally profitable, that customer may not be worth retaining. That customer still places burdens on the resources of the business. The opportunity costs to the business and to other customers may not be worth continuing to serve the aforementioned customer. Some food for thought... AJ
  12. BlueAngel's reply to a different subject also applies to this subject -- dropping home broadband in favor of mobile only. AJ
  13. Because unpaired spectrum that is classified as downlink and adjacent to downlink cannot be used as uplink. AJ
  14. No. Lower 700 MHz E block cannot be used as uplink. AJ
  15. Apples and oranges. ARPU, ABPU, etc., inherently are numbers. Fraydog can provide those figures to support/undermine his point. Wants, attitudes, etc. are qualities, not quantities. What I have done is convey those qualities that many have expressed here and elsewhere. And, yes, I am rich, bitch! I freely have given 15 years of wireless industry research to the lot of you. Now, I am done with it. I have earned the right to say that I am retired and the rest of you can pick up the slack. If I say you should go crunch some numbers, scour some databases, build some spreadsheets, create some maps, write some articles yourselves, you should. Or you can do nothing and get nothing in return. No longer my concern. AJ
