  1. Many in this thread who have tried other providers say that Sprint is now superior in Chicago -- especially superior to T-Mobile. I am not a Chicagoan and have not visited the Windy City since 2011. I will let others speak for themselves, but from the array of recent anecdotal reports here, you and your experience seem to be outliers. That happens, generally a product of specific location(s). AJ
  2. That experience suggests a device issue. Dropping LTE at -105 dBm RSRP is not common. And optimization should not factor in to the equation. Before optimization, the signal may be at lower power. But that just means the cell radius potentially will be smaller, not that LTE will drop at a higher signal level. Lastly, if you are running an alternative ROM, all bets are off. Many of those developers do not know what they are doing when it comes to RF engineering. They can muck things up with the baseband firmware. AJ
  3. The LTE max ERP/EIRP figures for the VZW and AT&T variants, respectively, are roughly as follows. VZW: Band 2: 22 dBm Band 4: 23 dBm Band 5: 16 dBm Band 13: 17 dBm AT&T: Band 2: 24 dBm Band 4: 24 dBm Band 5: 16 dBm Band 12: 19 dBm Band 17: 19 dBm Band 30: 18 dBm Then, for Sprint variant comparison, you can refer back to our article. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-383-summer-of-69-samsung-and-htc-rock-out-with-their-flagships-for-the-season/ The common shortcoming seems to be with high band spectrum. See AT&T variant band 30 and Sprint variant band 41. RF output for mid band and low band spectrum is at least okay, even quite good. AJ
  4. Maybe the QHD LCD is an option for the back cover. The LG G4 4G GL -- just as I predicted. AJ
  5. Ah, you are that homeless guy living in the restroom at the Lincoln Square IMAX. I thought I recognized you... AJ
  6. Depending upon whether you are in the foyer, kitchen, den, ballroom, servants' quarters, or indoor swimming pool? AJ
  7. You sounded as if you were referring to network tuning. Are you referring to device tuning? If so, nexgencpu is right. Subsequent baseband firmware updates may strike a better balance among reselection thresholds. But, barring an unexpected Class II Permissive Change filing, no update will make the Galaxy S6 a strong band 41 performer. AJ
  8. Sprint cannot retune band 41 parameters for one device. As S4GRU published six weeks ago, the Galaxy S6 in the testing lab was a poor performer on the band 41 uplink. You cannot say that you were not forewarned. And the real world issue sounds like it is not with reception. Likely, that is why the handset is hanging on to a -120 dBm RSRP band 41 signal. But the issue is with transmission. The Galaxy S6 struggles to muster enough power to respond consistently on the uplink. I would be curious to have you try a better performing device on band 41 in the same location(s). AJ
  9. Ah, yes, Maceo. You and your "dawgs" were the beginning of the demise of Nextel iDEN. Like a star running out of fuel and going red giant. We know how that ultimately ends... AJ
  10. If you were interested in the rules being observed and applied, you would not be back here. Nevertheless, my post was fine. It clarified what JeffDTD did not seem to be aware of in his post directing you to T-Mobile. You are already pink. And, to be clear, that means T-Mobile pink, not communist pink. As such, that was a useful response to him -- because it provided him with additional info. AJ
  11. And you are a banned member who returned without permission under disguise who we should be accepting? AJ
  12. In case you were not aware, maximus long has been pink. But he wants to make it clear that he is definitely no pinko commie. AJ
  13. Not really. That may have relevance to you -- but not to me nor to many others on this site. And do not bring irrelevant politics into the mix. Robert has made that clear many times. AJ
  14. No, not all four operators. The FCC does not assign national wireless licenses. AJ
  15. That is not a full answer. If T-Mobile started losing subs again or Sprint started gaining them, the T-ech press adoration would not subside. Regardless, Mr. maximus question asker basically answered the question himself. Good for him. He should do that more often. AJ
  16. Nope, wrong. The T-ech press love for T-Mobile started well before it began gaining subscribers again. AJ
  17. That is the Weird Robert Yankovic parody version. AJ
  18. A fringe benefit of the demise of Nextel was the silence of the "chirp" -- unless you happen to have another iDEN/dispatch operator in your market. To be honest, the problem was minimal during the last few years. But 10-15 years ago, Nextel and Boost Mobile subs behaving badly in public were commonplace. Good riddance... AJ
  19. That may be just as well -- because if you constantly "chirp" in public, I will put my boot up your ass for free. AJ
  20. See, Samsung and Sprint are missing the boat on numerous marketing campaigns. I am coming up with these ideas right and left. However, that last one might be better suited to urbanite T-Mobile. AJ
