  1. In practical application, that question has zero pertinence. SMR 800 MHz (Part 90) is limited to 100 W. Cellular 850 MHz (Part 22) is limited to 7 W. PCS 1900 MHz (Part 24) is limited to 2 W. AWS-1 1700+2100 MHz (Part 27) is limited to 1 W. No matter. Mobile output is measured in milliwatts, not watts. No modern device really pushes the envelope or gains an advantage based on those regulations. AJ
  2. For mobiles, 100 W. But why are you even asking that question? AJ
  3. Nextel iDEN. Any buildout requirements do not get reset just because of a change in ownership and/or technology. AJ
  4. Have you tried Restoration WiMAX Hardware? There are Yuppie stores in most major markets. AJ
  5. Two can play this game... By your benefit rationale, what does serving Sylacauga, AL at all do for Sprint? If so few people use Sprint that you still get 15 Mbps on a single band 25 carrier after two years, then Sprint is losing money serving your town. Subscriber fees are not covering infrastructure costs, site leases, and electric bills -- not to mention, other less tangible, per capita debits. Forget band 41 in Sylacauga. Sprint should cancel its site leases, then take down its infrastructure and move it somewhere that benefits Sprint. See what I mean? AJ
  6. As an aside but on a related note, several of the earliest sites to receive band 41 deployment in the Kansas market were at exceedingly rural service areas and truck stops where long haul truckers often park overnight along I-70 and the Kansas Turnpike. Think about it... AJ
  7. That is bullshit to say you will "never benefit." You clearly misunderstand the tiered nature of tri band deployment. Many small towns are becoming rural ghettos. Those left behind often lack access to good wired broadband or are unable to afford it. As such, those small town people can be some of the largest consumers of wireless data. If not now, every small town that Sprint serves needs band 41 deployed in the future. Get those in range of band 41 off of band 25 and band 26. Free up band 25 and band 26 for those people on the outskirts of town and on the highways. That is the tiered nature of tri band deployment. AJ
  8. The government does not measure Sprint's covered POPs. AJ
  9. Oh, and I prefer to call it the Fremont Loop or the Norfolk Loop. But I have not decided which one. So, I will just defer to you Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben. AJ
  10. A second band 25 carrier can roughly double average speeds. But it will have no effect on maximum attainable speeds. As for the missing second sector, if these are ground mount sites, they could be just two sector sites, instead of three sector sites. Many Sprint affiliates deployed two sector sites as a cost saving measure where they wanted coverage basically in a straight line, not in a full circular cell. AJ
  11. Yes, all LG G4 discussion should remain in this thread -- it is barely to 200 posts. Like it or not, there just is not widespread interest in this handset. I wrote an authoritative FCC OET article on it, and after a month atop The Wall, the article still has not even generated 3000 views. AJ
  12. Again, Puerto Rico and coverage expansion there just may not be a priority for Sprint -- especially if Sprint has such a meager market share. Sprint has more pressing concerns where it has more customers. From the data that we have seen, a 6% share would be by far the lowest for Sprint in any major market. AJ
  13. Most FCC construction requirements have two deadlines. Failure to meet the first benchmark just accelerates by a year or two the deadline to meet the second benchmark. Not necessarily a deal breaker. I think Dish is banking on that. AJ
  14. What borders a rant is a poster who may get suspended or banned for breaking the rules. Now, what is bordering on a rant are hyperbolically negative and factually spurious statements, such as these: AJ
  15. The unpaired Lower 700 MHz D/E blocks are 3GPP codified as band 29 for supplemental downlink carrier aggregation. AJ
  16. I have started a charitable organization that will repurpose those abandoned iDEN shelters. It is called Habitat for Futility. AJ
  17. Be our guest, Be our guest, Let our Wi-Fi do the rest... Makes every memory divine... AJ
