Anyone still using the G7?  I finally broke down and ordered a used one via Ebay for a little over $250 (online store digicircle with over 20k feeback and a 98.9% positive feedback).  Looking forward to experiencing the upgrade over my G5 - though I'm going to really miss the ability to easily change batteries.

Also ended up going with this for the case after perusing many reviews:

LG G7 is still my primary phone.  LG G8 looks like a minor update to it; will wait for the next 5G phone.

Any news for the Triangle market?

I switched from T-Mobile a few days ago as I kept having issues with coverage in some of the buildings I am in frequently and the modem on the iPhone XS kept locking up when transitioning from low coverage to high coverage areas.

Sprint has better coverage indoors in the places I go to but the upload speeds are an issue. While it's nice to get 70 - 90 MB/s DL, video chat just doesn't work well with 2 MB/s UL.  Latency is pretty good too. Just that upstream... Always something :)

Also, does WiFi calling on Sprint use a different audio codec that is more compressed than the one T-Mobile uses?

I understand my area still uses 1x for voice at this time but I would have thought WiFi calling uses a better codec since bandwidth doesn't matter. T-Mobile was much clearer on WiFi calling.

I will drive down to Fayetteville for next week.

...so nothing changes with this company... one bad decision after another.      Merged with Nextel, (poorly executed and full of mistakes)...gets 800 and 900 mHz which it can't use and has to give back/sell 900 and then reband the entire public safety network in the country in order to use the 800 it has ...  has to write the entire Nextel thing off the books years later...  then it chooses the wrong 4G (Wimax) when within a few weeks, others including AT&T and Verizon and everyone else chose LTE.   They never really deploy Wi-Max except to a few small chosen spots and never very dense just to appease the FCC for it's claim to 2500 mHz.     Then it stops updating it's network until they have to fix it and decide on a "Rip - and Replace" which just about kills service to many long time users, me included for a long period... Then Son comes along and decides to buy the majority of the company so he can merge it, not realizing it has to be approved by the US government.     It was a real eye opener, and a sad state of affairs... but  especially when in the 2G and 3G days, Sprint was a leader and a disruptor!   They had good phones... I had a Samsung "Blade" a full metal version of the Moto Razr... great phone!    Sprint had some of the first color screen phones (Sanyo), the Motorola Razr (I believe AT&T was allowed to carry Razr's first)...       They (Sprint) were the carrier to be with back in the day.      I miss those days... I'm hoping T Mobile can do what Sprint used to do better.

Let's not forget the liar Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure.  Paid $100 million+ to make Sprint drop from #3 carrier to #4 carrier and get sold to someone else.

The new Sprint CEO (Coombes who?) was given $15 million last year and gets a bonus $26 million if the merger occurs. (Claure gets an additional $61 million)

Hey folks! Back in the day sprint has an Executive Customer Service team that could actually solve problems. Do they still exist? I Googled the old contact info:

    ph: 1-866-398-4606
    fx: 1-888-569-4927
    email: executive.offices@sprint.com

But it doesn't seem to work anymore. Does anybody have the new updated contact information, or at least the new phone number?

    Thanks!

Executive Customer Service number still exists, but now it is only for executives. 😛

Ok not to sound stupid here.. ok sure i can sound stupid....

Anyway in regards to how the networks will work together????  ummmm dont they already??  I Mean when you roam off of sprint you grab Tmo.... So in the short term, shouldnt it just be a matter of some PRL updates??  And then, as they do now.. while working on the network, hardware or behind scenes, they adjust as necessary....

Reading all the back and forth about the logistics of it makes me laugh.. because with the roaming agreements, its kind of already there..

My previous worry about incompatibility was 3G (CDMA vs GSM), but that should hopefully be history by the time the merger occurs.

Looking at the Best Buy Black Friday ad, it looks like the LG G7 will be available for $7/mo, though details are sparse:

    https://www.bfads.net/stores/best-buy/ads/black-friday/page-24

Assuming it applies to upgrades, as my G6 upgrade did last year, does anyone have any feedback on how the G7 compares with the G6?  I know the G7 lacks the rear power button, which is disappointing, but how about other features/design decisions?

    - Trip

I just upgraded one of my lines using this deal.  Huge discount!  😮

I have had issues with my main line LG G7 due to auto camera shots in HDR being grainy and low quality; just turned off any HDR.

Also possibly due to being out in the rain, my calling microphone sensor does not work, though my voice goes through if I turn on speaker phone.

The build material seems a bit slippery to me, so I dropped the phone and now the back is cracked.

Yet, I will buy another LG G7 because I am not a fan of the specs on the Galaxy line of phones.

I do not believe that's Sprint even has coverage at my parents place. Even if they do is most likely only still roaming or swiss cheese coverage. I am hopeful at least out of the merger is approved it actually fixes the gigantic coverage within Sprintz own footprint. It's been 6 years since Sprint started Network Vision upgrades and the LTE service at my parents place is nil to none. And 3-g is extremely unusable. I would like to see the coverage fixed. I remember when I talked to the CTO of Sprint via Twitter I sent him a screenshot of a place that would make an excellent replacement site for Sprint. But I'm going to get a cheap prepaid phone and actually check out the coverage. If it hasn't improved then I'll know Sprint was just all talk for my area. And the funny thing is there is no 800 1X for my entire town only LTE and then on top of that only the main road has had the band 41 and coverage improved. So I believe nothing any of this CEOs are the carriers say until it actually happens and I noticed an improvement in the experience.

Wimax.  Thank you for bring back that memory. I had a Samsung Epic 4G. :D

  8. Marcelo was a piece of shit CEO.  Typical short-term cash grab all bluster executive.  Remember when he promised that Sprint would have the highest network rankings and then lost the #3 carrier spot to T-Mobile?

His entire tenure was a pump and dump scheme that netted him $100 million+ in stock/cash compensation by using merger rumors, financial engineering, and literally free service giveaways to keep the stock price and company afloat before he left the crash with an even higher position.
