  1. I'm still experiencing issues post-update. No LTE connection whatsoever, very limited voice/text capability, and flaky 3G signal. I've tried manually setting the MSN and MSID, but that has made no change as well. I'm looking at doing a factory reset after work once I have time to back the phone up. If that doesn't work, then I'm heading to Sprint for a resolution. Any other suggestions?
  2. Mine was one that the update was supposed to fix. It's done and it appears to be working a little better, but I'll give it a few days and make a better judgement then. If I have to go back to Sprint and get a new phone, I will.
  3. Well, as of Friday night, my M8 is flaking out on me. I was on a phone call with my wife when the call ended suddenly. I was at home, with no known issues. I tried calling her back countless times, but kept getting an error message "Call origination attempt fails due to an immediate signal loss (signal fade or no service available)". I cycled power and couldn't get it to come back. We then drove across the state, where I was able to have her M7 and my M8 side by side, where my phone almost constantly had little/no service. I called Sprint technical support yesterday, who had me try manually entering the MSN and MSID, changing them and forcing them back to my phone #, but to no avail. The symptoms now include having limited voice service and no data, or data and no voice service. I can use WiFi just like before, but the other antennas seem to be acting up. I'm getting my old M7 ready to go back to, but I'm going to back up my phone first and try a factory reset to see if it fixes the issue. Any other suggestions? Edit - just found the articles about the data bug. Downloading the urgent update now.
  4. Man, that smaller Spark logo is nice. Sprint...take note! You don't need a ton of real estate up top. Give us something better!
  5. I picked up a Dot View case today at my local Sprint store. I'm trying it for a few days before I decide whether I want to keep it. The Commuter case I had on the phone since purchasing it was too clunky and made the phone massive. I've also ordered an Otterbox Symmetry case to see how it compares to the Commuter. They claim to be thinner, but I have yet to see one in person anywhere.
  6. Has anyone connected their M8 to a Bluetooth calling device, like Ford Sync? If so, how is the call volume compared to previous phones? I'm trying to find out if my low BT volume is isolated, or if it's a device issue.
  7. I looked at it, but it blocks the IR port.
  8. I'm also running a Commuter on mine, but want something thinner. I'm hoping their Symmetry series will fit that bill.
  9. You should be fine in SE Michigan. They fixed most of the legacy equipment in the Downriver area that created havoc for those with issues dropping calls. I travel between both sides of the state and have had very good service along the I-94 corridor since early Feb.
  10. It's not bad, but I find myself noticing it less than I noticed it on my M7. It could have to do with the weight of the phone, which is noticeably heavier than last year's. I'm concerned about BT performance now. I'm hoping the update fixed that. Has anyone else noticed lower than normal output levels via BT With this phone?
  11. Did a speed test this morning, and was pleasantly surprised by the results:
  12. A little update: I've noticed that the BT sound via my Ford Sync is extremely quiet compared to previous Evo's and my M7. I have to turn the volume on max and the in-car volume almost double what I used to. A bit frustrating, especially when I have to have it louder than a V8 with an exhaust on it.
  13. Is anyone running the phone in ART instead of Dalvik? If so, have you run into any issues?
  14. Picked up my M8 yesterday at a local Sprint corporate store. I had to ask them if they had them in stock, and they were in the back. The sales guy told me they weren't allowed to put them on display yet. So far I'm picking up much more LTE signal in my area, and the phone is lightning fast. Got my fiancee the M7, because she wanted a slightly smaller phone. My only complaint so far is the weak vibration intensity compared to my M7. This feels faint in comparison. I also wish (as I have for several years) that HTC would go with a better notification light. The tiny one in the speaker grille sucks compared to the Samsung one IMO, and isn't customizable with LightFlow like the GS phones have.
  15. Just watched the video. I'd suggest it with the volume turned down, because the kid gets annoying quick. I really like the dark grey finish on this one. Now I'm debating on whether to get this on Sprint or move to VZW once my fiancee's contract is up. Glad to see the SD slot return. Hopefully battery size improves, as well as battery life. Edit - am I one of the few who'd like them to incorporate a fingerprint sensor into the phone? I'd love to lock it via fingerprint like the S5 and iPhone 5S. Much better IMO than the pattern or PIN.

    HTC EVO 4G LTE

I uninstalled it on my 8.1 machine, but it reinstalled it during the attempt. On the Win7 machine, it did not have it. After playing with the Evo next to my One, I have to say, this was too late, but much needed. I can't believe how much snappier the phone feels overall. Had they dropped this back shortly after 4.3 was released, I don't know if I would have bothered to pick up a One (and I really like mine!).

My thought as well. After all my headaches, I can tell you that my Win8.1 machine didn't like it one bit, but my Win7 machine took care of it like a charm. YMMV.

Got mine to finally update using a Win7 PC instead of my Win8.1 at home. Doing the update now.

    HTC EVO 4G LTE

I re-installed the HTC Sync manager before starting. I disabled all of the HTC Sync items on the phone. It'll show up in the drive listing when plugged in, but as soon as it starts the bootloader portion, I get the message that the deivce isn't recognized. I downloaded the RUU update from here: http://www.pocketables.com/2014/02/htc-officially-releases-android-4-3sense-5-ruu-htc-evo-4g-lte-public.html I believe my PC has USB3 slots, could that be the problem?

    HTC EVO 4G LTE

I think I made mine angry. Followed the steps, but got a USB error when trying to install. I just have a black screen with silver HTC letters on the phone, and no input whatsoever seems to change it. Any suggestions? Edit - Nevermind, I was able to recover it and try again. Edit 2 - Every time I try to start the update process, my PC (win 8.1) says "the USB device is not recognized" and fails the install.

I've tried multiple times and the email just keeps getting getting returned back.

Are people still emailing HTC to get the update, or is the address invalid? I'd like to get 4.3 up and running on my LTE, even though it's a backup phone. I still use it for WiFi around the house.
  23. Of course, the few towers that aren't LTE in the Portage - Three Rivers part of 131 are the ones that are most important to me. Is it too much to ask to finish those 3 or 4 towers up to totally serve the area?
  24. I'm only running the Lite version, but it appears to work fine. I was glad to finally be able to turn Blinkfeed off and gain another home screen. I felt it should have been that way from the beginning. A full-screen widget seemed more sensible and given users more flexibility. I like the ability to set up custom settings the way you like too. I took a few things out of mine and rearranged it to be more to my liking. All in all, the update seems decent, though more seat time is needed to verify.
