  1. Wow, wishful thinking on my part paid off :-). No luck on the update here yet either. Surprisingly enough, both of the old M7's in our house updated without a hitch yesterday.
  2. Yep, saw the leaked shot from Android Central with Lollipop release dates for Sprint phones. In the meantime, I can play with it on the M7 and find the differences.
  3. I'm with you Payne. I expected the M8 to get it first. I updated my old M7 and told my wife to roll hers up to 5.0 today. We could get lucky and have it pulled forward, but that seems unlikely.
  4. Got the update and still running Dalvik. Are there any apps still having issues running ART, or have they sorted most of the issues out? If you do decide to switch to ART, has anyone run into problems?
  5. Not sure. Anyone out there get it yet?
  6. Or just let people manually use the function on their phones to pull the OTA update, and push it after a certain date...No need to reinvent the wheel.
  7. Still no update, just a changelog that appears to be posted early. Let's hope we see this update soon, and with some fixes for other misc. issues.
  8. Looks like some update posted today, but no details on what is changed: http://support.sprint.com/support/article/Find_and_update_the_software_version_on_your_HTC_One_M8/WServiceAdvisory_542_GKB69195
  9. I See Verizon already got the 4.4.4/Eye update. I'm shocked Sprint didn't have the update first, as they've been on the ball with the M8 since launch.
  10. Europe is finally getting 4.4.4 with the new Eye experience revealed in the RE camera event. I wonder how long it'll take to make it stateside, and what else it'll fix. I'd like to see them fix the flickering status bar icon, and figure out a way to free up some real estate along the top.
  11. Yes. Both phones built at different times about a year apart. Here's the ongoing thread from Sprint: https://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/167420
  12. I'm surprised no one in here has mentioned the issue with the Smith - expired! message that appears on power-up. My wife and sister have One's and both display it on power up. If you don't disable it, then incoming calls/texts do not go through. Sprint still seems clueless on a fix, and it's been happening since the end of July, per their website.
  13. Yes, I had an Exchange account for work email, but I since deleted the account sync. I had it before the update, and it had never prompted me to add a lock screen. I also did not have my SD encrypted, as I did not have one installed in the phone. Is there a way to clear the settings out from the Exchange account, or verify they were removed when the account was removed.
  14. Can someone please offer up a suggestion on how to remove the SD encryption, or why I can't disable it and turn my lock screen off?!? It's like I'm not an administrator of my phone any more...
  15. After putting an SD card in my phone, I am still unable to turn off SD encryption. I've tried all of the basic Android methods and removed the accounts that may cause something to be activated. Suggestions?
  16. The only thing I've noticed since the update was it forced me to add a PIN/password lock screen since updating. Was that part of the 4.4.3 update? I have an Exchange connection for my work email, but it didn't require a lock screen until the update came through. If possible, I'd like to disable it, but it doesn't seem to allow me that anymore. EDIT - Looks like the SD card encryption is turned on, although I don't have a card in it at the moment. I'll have to put one in later and uncheck the box to fix it. Hopefully this helps anyone else stuck in the same spot as me.
  17. The 4.4.4 update started rolling out to GPe devices today, as well as the GPe M7. My guess is we'll see it on Sprint in the next 7-10 days.
  18. Well, I'm back on a working M8. The local store ordered me one after I added TEP to my account, and it ended up being a new phone, not a refurb. After doing the urgent update I seem to be picking up very steady signal, but I realized that at home I'm bouncing between two towers. I just upgraded to SignalCheck Pro and noticed depending on where I am in the house, it'll jump between towers.
  19. I should have clarified, my analogy was akin to warranty coverage. If I took my car to the dealer while under warranty, the dealer would repair it and send the OEM the bill. Why can't this be different? I feel like the Sprint store is just trying a money grab for insurance and/or a refurb phone. I realize that Sprint and HTC may not have the same kind of relationships as the dealer and manufacturer, but it was just an example. I'm still in the process of trying to sort out the MSN debacle from the store last night. I have my phone working, but my wife's is not. Of course, it's not as simple as calling in and trying to have Sprint CS send a re-provisioning signal to her phone.
  20. Man, I wish I was that lucky. I've only had that luck one time, and that was with the Palm Pre.I look at it like this; if you buy a car and it needs service, you don't take it back to the plant it was built at, do you?
  21. Did that yesterday and was told I had to pay $80 or add insurance. Re-read my previous post.
  22. Last night only made me hate both Sprint and HTC more. After work, I went to the Sprint store. The tech there was able to help and tried a few things, including reset, loading the software via his PC, and he checked my signal quality, which said the device was showing poor (red light), while my wife's M7 showed good (green light). He said my options were to pay $80 for a refurb device under warranty (I don't have TEP),add insurance to file a claim, or go through HTC. I told him I felt it was ridiculous that I should have to pay a dime for a phone that doesn't sound like it was ever working properly. Ultimately, I had them reactivate my M7 I had as a way of getting a working phone (more on that later). Next, I contaced HTC. I spoke with someone named Wes, who was helpful and took me through a few more troubleshooting steps, but wanted me to contact Sprint to have them try a new SIM card in the M8. I ran back to the Sprint store, had them try a SIM, which had no effect. Wes said that after that, if it didn't work, I would be eligible for an overnight exchange. Back home I called HTC again. After going through yet more troubleshooting, I finally had the rep taking my information for an exchange when the call was disconnected. I called a third time, got someone more difficult to understand, and went through other steps (why I did this after giving them ticket info I don't know) then started giving her address info, when the phone disconnected again. I called a fourth time and got someone who was easy to understand, but told me my phone was put in the system as a broken screen, not as a connectivity issue, and would only be eligible for repair, not replacement. I was told that I would be getting a call today to straighten things out. Not thinking anything of it, I went to bed. This morning, I sent a text to a coworker, who replied asking who it was. The Sprint store mistakenly put my M7 onto my wife's phone number. Needless to say, I'm at my limit with both Sprint and HTC. This WILL be the last phone and last time I have Sprint service.
  23. I had my wife's M7 next to mine on LTE and hers showed both available via Signalcheck. I'll confirm that again tonight to be sure. I also know the Sprint tech rep told me the voice quality was reported to be poor for my phone as of recently. Does that mean anything?
  24. Tried a hard reset last night. No change in service. Connecting to LTE effectively locks the data up. Also, when on LTE, I lose voice (1xRTT) according to SignalCheck. Taking it in to Sprint today. What are the odds of getting a refurb phone vs. a new one? I need a working phone for work and due to not having a land line, so this is EXTREMELY important that I get this resolved ASAP.
