  1. Yeah, on the old Tmo maps, I would only get service with their two darkest green colors. The two lighter colors were completely zero service. At least with Tmo, I know that my service ends with the darker color. I wish Sprint's LTE maps at least had color strata, so I know where their service actually ends. 2. I know you're intimately familiar with your sites. You have done a fantastic job cataloging your region's progress and been instrumental in spearheading your market threads and rallying the troops. Excellent work. I've enjoyed coming along for the ride with you. Feel like I was in Iowa the whole time. I just wanted to clarify that there is likely still a lot of backhaul work still going on even when it appears to be complete. Don't want the S4GRU masses to turn on us when their site appears complete and wondering why their site still doesn't have live LTE. Keep up the good work. Watching your complete conversion to a wireless nerd is one of my crowning achievements! You were with me from the very beginning back on Facebook. I'll never forget. 3. It's amazing how variable their coverage is. In Baton Rouge, they have very sparse coverage. In Albuquerque, they are spaced OK for outdoor coverage, but indoor coverage is bad more than 1/2 mile from a site. In Santa Fe, there were places I couldn't even use my phone outdoors in major commercial areas. However, in Denver, I never lost Tmo signal ever. I even kept LTE in most places. So some places, Tmo does their thing right. But in most places I go...no bueno. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  4. Don't confuse seeing orange fiber conduit installed as fiber being installed. The conduit is great and means that fiber is ready to be pulled. But it doesn't mean that fiber has been pulled in it. And it doesn't mean that all the connections have been made on the entire fiber run. Also, some times even when a fiber connection is made at a site, it just may be the final piece off a distribution trunk. But the trunk itself may still be waiting to be installed/upgraded or connected. So seeing orange conduits being buried on site and run to the telco box is a wonderful thing, it does not mean backhaul is ready. LTE Integration can be done quickly at a site. 1-3 hours if everything is ready and operating as it should. Sites that truly have their backhaul ready will come online very soon. The others will come online one by one by one as their backhaul is ready and the site is integrated. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  5. I haven't started one yet. And it would just be Rapid City. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  6. Oy vey! Robert And when I think of the expression "oy vey", I cannot help but think of this spoof from Weird Al Yankovich:

    LG G2 Users Thread!

Sprint sure seems to think so since they gave a deadline. As for me, I have no idea. Robert
  8. It would actually be better for Sprint to overbuild in the long run. Especially if it is done via Shentel. Shentel is one of the best regionals in the country. nTelos is not. The only negative of Sprint/Shentel overbuilding in West Virginia and Western Virginia is that Sprint subscribers in these areas will be relegated to 3G for a long while. But at least as nTelos brings new backhaul to their LTE sites, their 3G should improve. nTelos has some good 3G performing areas. This would make it even more widespread. 9. Lying? Misinformed? Guessing? I have no idea. However, Sprint often does the same thing. Gross ineptitude or blatant falsehoods? Who knows?? Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  10. In a quick search I did while waiting for new tires to be installed, I came up with this link: http://www.rcrwireless.com/article/20130925/carriers/ntelos-sprint-resolve-billing-issue/ In the last paragraph it talks about Sprint customers and their LTE network. I recall one of the Sprint executives saying verbally after this agreement was reached for the billing problems that they have worked out an LTE wholesale agreement. I don't remember if it was an investor conference or quarterly earnings call Q&A. But I wasn't able to find that with a quick search just now. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  11. The upgraded equipment is not having any problems. There are two main problems occurring. One is dropped calls, which is happening because legacy sites can cause interference and not play well with upgraded sites. Also sites are being worked on and going on and offline. Two data speeds/throughput caused by backhaul. Backhaul is the site's high speed internet connection. Most Sprint sites around ABQ are still connected to legacy bundled T1's for backhaul. Even ones with new equipment. CenturyLink is currently upgrading backhaul around ABQ for Sprint. When the new fiber CL connections are made, data speeds will go way up and LTE can start coming online. So, neither of these are symptoms of problems with newly installed base equipment. We are nearing the end of problems in NM. But it's likely to get a little worse before it gets better. I think we're about 30 days away from starting to really turn a corner. But CenturyLink is a wild card and very hard to pin down. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

    LG G2 Users Thread!

Since Sammy and HTC devices are using Band 41, I don't think it has anything to do with wanting to have more sites ready. I think this is completely an LG problem. It could even be a hardware problem they are trying to overcome with software. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  13. Ouch! I'd never say such a thing. My intelligence, if any, is just an amalgamation of recollections of events/comments from people who are much smarter than I am. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  14. I don't know. Sprint has said that their new unlimited for life plans may be restricted to 1Mbps video streaming. So this may be a thing that will stay, in order to preserve network performance. For most people, using streaming video only on a smartphone screen is clear and not blurry, as long as a 1Mbps with low latency can be maintained. However, connect that puppy to a larger screen and it will look blurry. Sprint knows if it maintained the status quo, people would abuse the network and use their Sprint LTE to stream HD video to their big screen TV's and possibly not get an ISP at all. It would only take a couple of HD video streamers per sector to bring an LTE site to its knees. But with streaming at 1Mbps, Sprint can continue to offer unlimited data for years to come. Robert
  15. Another thought...is the nTelos LTE released so far in PCS? I know that nTelos also has AWS holdings. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  16. I use AT&T here in South Dakota and I get the same message when I try to use HD on YouTube. It says HD is not available over Cellular connections. Is it possible a recent YouTube update has caused this and it's not related to a specific device or the network? It may be possible that the wireless providers have requested YouTube remove HD over their networks. Just a thought. Robert
  17. Each site will go live with LTE when the backhaul provider gets the new high speed internet connection installed and Samsung techs get it integrated. All the easy sites should be done soon, if not already. The rest will happen over the next six months or so, one or two sites at a time. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  18. I have the same problem with editing, but only from my Nexus 5. I can edit easily from other devices. Editing works great on my Note 8.0 tablet. A new Tapatalk extension update came out recently. I hope to upgrade it soon. Hopefully it will solve the edit problem, but I am skeptical. Since for me it was only for the N5, I assumed it was a Tapatalk problem with 4.4, the N5 or ART. But now you are reporting a problem with a device with none of these items on it, so I don't know what to think now. As for Phones and Location, it was not possible to add that in Tapatalk with the last update. I will check if it becomes possible with the new update. Tapatalk hasn't ever liked custom profile fields in the past. They only code in the standard ones IP Board requires. And have not allowed any customization with profiles before. I hope they change this. It would be incredibly helpful for us! Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  19. Whenever I put a Tmo or ATT SIM card in my N5, most traces to Sprint CDMA go away in all the Engineering/Diagnostic/About screens. And I certainly am unable to use Sprint CDMA with a Tmo or ATT SIM card inserted. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  20. Yep. But further switch integration or network authentication integration with Sprint may be required. It could take a few weeks. Also, the agreement between Sprint and nTelos is not a roaming agreement. It is a wholesale network agreement. nTelos coverage is native for Sprint customers. Not roaming. And the difference is very significant. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  21. Yep. I have run into crews at two sites so far. In Progress. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  22. Not necessarily. Sometimes an NV 3G accepted site will have to stay on legacy for a short while after acceptance. Also, some signal fine tuning may still need to be done. However, the call drop issue should be substantially better now. It will still drop when you get to the edge of Sprint coverage though, of course. But the dropping when handing off to another adjacent site should largely be over with. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  23. Thank you to those of you who have taken the opportunity to upgrade and support S4GRU! For the rest, you still have a little time to get your donations in to take advantage of this upgrade promotion. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

  25. I don't disagree. I won't even say that most commissioned sales people are liars. However, it is far too tempting to too many commissioned sales people to be less than honest to make more money. It's just that when someone is dealing with a commissioned sales person, they need to do more research on their own and not just take their word. Robert
