Map of companies working on LTE Upgrades
S4GRU replied to sps2010's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
That's absurd! Sprint is spending $8 Billion this year and massively upgrading like crazy. Nothing has stopped. Masa hasn't Stopped the naetwork upgrades because of Tmo. Don't come in here and spew BS like that. It may not be enough for you where you live, but that kind of mass generalization doesn't fly here. NO ONE IN THE COUNTRY IS EXPANDING THEIR NETWORK COVERAGE. It's not just Sprint. It's everyone. And at least Sprint is trying to expand their coverage through the rural network alliances they are forming. Robert -
Sprint to join Rural Operators Roaming Hub (CCA and RRPP thread)
S4GRU replied to marioc21's topic in General Topics
Yes. And most likely JVT will be paying more for their customers than Sprint pays them. More Aberdeen customers will travel onto the Sprint network all around the country than Sprint customers end up in Aberdeen. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro -
They only show above 818MHz and higher on that site based on how the FCC was listing spectrum data back when it complied the data for its maps. Use the Premier Sponsor 800 spectrum map for more complete SMR spectrum info for Sprint. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

Checking Engineering Screens is only useful after you get an LTE Signal. So while you're in wait and see mode, just monitoring Signal Check Pro is sufficient. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

Sprint to join Rural Operators Roaming Hub (CCA and RRPP thread)
S4GRU replied to marioc21's topic in General Topics
Primarily, I'd like to see Sprint customers to be able to use these other rural LTE networks as native within our normal Sprint account data allowances. However, I can live with the roaming limits already established if we could pay for the additional roaming at a fair price. I think that it shouldn't be a big deal to Sprint to allow us to use our normal data allotments on these other providers (including unlimited). Because these rural providers are more likely to have their customers roaming and using Sprint data away from their markets than Sprint customers using their networks. Since Sprint really wants to tout this additional coverage, I'm still expecting it to be treated as native. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro- 659 replies

Sprint to join Rural Operators Roaming Hub (CCA and RRPP thread)
S4GRU replied to marioc21's topic in General Topics
Yeah, Sprint would need to zip code restrict Aberdeen, South Dakota and its environs (in this instance). It wouldn't be a perfect block, but these rural providers would need to insist Sprint provide at least this much protection. And they may already have that worked out. Non-G-Block PCS LTE Carriers
S4GRU replied to dmchssc's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
I haven't heard/seen any, yet. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro -
Agreed. But it seems conceivable that one company's network/account setup may be easier/faster to get going than the other. It's also possible if they were roaming on Sprint LTE that the network was just opened up for testing purposes in one area. Lots of possibilities. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

It's possible nTelos is rolling out LTE in Richmond right now. It's also possible that these nTelos LTE devices were roaming on Sprint LTE. I would trust nTelos store reps about as much as Sprint. Not very much. If you can get pictures of any of these nTelos LTE device's LTE Engineering screen, that would help us figure that out. Thanks. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

Comments related to the NV Running List Thread
S4GRU replied to MacinJosh's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
Yeah. That explains it. Until your switch is finished being upgraded, it won't be able to do the inter-frequency handoffs. But perhaps tickets will help them get it done. Robert -
I can understand this sentiment. It's going to happen. But we just don't know when. Could be tomorrow, later this Fall or even next year before Sprint customers can access the nTelos LTE network. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

It is what it is now and Sprint Network Management is working it as fast as they can now with the new leadership and Masa. The past is what it is too. People will do what people will do with their money. It's not going to be easy for Sprint. But there is only forward now. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Sprint? I've never heard Sprint say anything about Substantial Completion. I have been the one saying Substantial Completion and others are picking it up. I still have not seen Sprint refer to being Substantially Complete with anything yet. Substantial Completion is a common construction industry term that we use in my business. That being said, when a site has Network Vision upgrades complete, it has all the LTE equipment installed. It just is requiring upgraded backhaul to plug in and voila, you have LTE. When all the physical upgrades are done at a site, the site is NV complete in my opinion. It is complete with NV upgrades. And one day backhaul will arrive and one guy can go out and fire up the LTE in an hour or two. You may not like the term substantial completion. And you may not like that Sprint is nearing Substantial Completion in many markets. But it is happening. And it's real. And whether it is an important milestone or not to you is fine. I'm OK with that. LTE is coming along behind NV complete sites rather quickly here lately though. And Masa is kicking the new network guys right in the most tender part of their derrières. It's happening now as fast it can now. And arguing over the semantics of objective technical terms is rather pointless for all of us. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Substantially complete means that only outliers are remaining to be complete. Outliers meaning sites with characteristics and circumstances that prevent it from being completed with the majority norm. We are nearing Substantial Completion with Network Vision. We are tracking it on a market by market level in the NV Running List section. You will likely see a lot of markets go to Substantially Complete in June and July. Just a handful remaining into August. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/212-network-visionlte-deployment-running-list/ Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

$2 Billion is chump change in this deal. Son can afford to write that check, no problem. And while Tmo would enjoy $2 Billion, it really just compensates them for the distraction of trying to merge. They really aren't profiting much. This really is a fair break up fee, for the most part. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
