AT&T CEO says failure of TMO deal will cost consumers

True that it's not GREED that drives one or the other, but Verizon has a disadvantage to at&t. Verizon doesn't own 100% of Verizon Wireless. It makes the biggest difference between the 2. If Verizon acquires the rest of VZW, then we will have a Duopoly in the USA.

Verizon's relationship with Verizon Wireless is WAY closer than Sprint and Clearwire... and look at those two. You can still say Duopoly with VZW and AT&T. Leave the VZ for another day.

The fact that VZ doesn't own 100% of VZW is one of the few mis-steps Verizon has ever made.

Clearwire is Sprint's off-balance sheet Muppet. It's comical.

ATT's Stephenson makes more bonehead statements:

Now he is blaming Google for the slow roll out of OS updates of ATT Android devices. He cannot accept responsibility for anything. Amazing. Everything is someone else's fault.

CEO FAIL!

They're just mad that they actually have to recycle their spectrum for future technologies (in other words take down the edge network).

With regards to data prices up by 30%. I bet they went from 10 cents a gig to 13 cents a gig.

It is most likely MUCH less than that. I believe Netflix pays 2.5-3 cents per GB currently.

The shareholders should totally fire him for his total incompetence.

Agree.

Im flabbergasted by his comments about "regretting ever offering unlimited". Really sir? So steve jobs didnt require you offer unlimited when your company launched that iphone that caused your massive growth? Right. Unlimited was a competitive mainstay in the infancy of the smartphone era, a key detail in convincing customers to pay $20-30 premiums over their recurring rate plans for data.... slow data at that. Had mobile data been limited from the beginning, we may not have experienced the explosive adoption of smartphones. In point, this race for 4g today may have only been a race for 3g. Funny how all of his statements end up harking back to slowing innovation....

    • June 1st security update installed on s24 ultra factory unlocked. No functional changes detected. No play system update yet.
    • The June security update is out.
    • In China now and roaming on China Mobile with Google Fi/TMUS. 5G is enabled on roaming, however most areas in China have NSA disabled on the network. so SA is the only way to get 5G. This is only possible using a native SIM from the Chinese carriers. Also, LTE CA is disabled on basically every site, except for a few I've come across while on the bullet train.   I'm lucky enough to be in a small town where NSA is still enabled on China mobile, so I'm able to have a decent experience while roaming. Haven't speedtested much but it seems to top out at 300mbps over roaming on b3 + n41 100mhz. The networks here are dense AF and every site seems to have midband 5G deployed. Also, interesting to see that most sites have antennas branded by the carrier, or painted a certain color (which I haven't figured out what that means yet).
    • My S21FE, which is my primary phone, has burned in quite a bit from SCP.  Not sure I could get a good picture of it, so I won't try.  Helpfully, since SCP allows full customization of app colors, I'm going to see if I can't undo it a bit by flipping the colors. https://imgur.com/a/QQr5Ncv We'll see how long my eyes tolerate the change... - Trip
