Kind of off topic but I need some help (Galaxy Note 10.1 2014)

I bought a galaxy note 2014 edition of swappa. The guy never informed me that the tablet is running clean ROM 1.5 ODIN. I have no idea how to root or what to do. I need a for dummies guide. All I know is I want to update it eventually to get the Magazine UX from the recent Note Pros just released. First off what is ODIN and how the heck do I root and update this nonsense
