Jellybean for LG Optimus G

So what's your opinion on the LG?

I really like it. It's sized right. 1x and EVDO RF Performance seems quite good on 1900. Solidly with the top performers. It's performance on 850 Cellular is not quite as good, but definitely acceptable. I haven't tried it on LTE yet

I like the form factor and screen more than the GS3. Phone call quality is great. It will hold on to very weak 1x and EVDO signals, more so than any other device. However, it's not usable beyond -106dBm just like most other devices. So this is not an advantage. Many people report to me that the LGOG is a better RF Performer because of this. But it still is on par with the GS3, Note 2 and Photon OG. It seems better because it won't drop until -116dBm RSSI. This is a problem to me though, because it prevents you from roaming. If the signal is unusable between -106dBm and it -116dBm, it might as well roam at that point.

My biggest complaint is battery life. Its the same as the nexus 4. Giving me all day life if I don't use it. About 8 hours with moderate use. About 3-4 hours of heavy usage.

I like the LG Android Overlay a lot. Much better than TouchWiz I also like having EVDO and LTE bars. This is the highest quality LG product I've ever used.

My wife is already angling to take this device and give up her EVO LTE. She keeps trying to get me to go back to my Note 2.

seems that sprint is releasing jelly bean finally ....but in stages go figure. anyone get the ota update yet?

I don't have it yet. I'm sure I will be last on the list to get it *rolls eyes*. But the official Sprint version is LS970ZVA and not ZVB as reported by others as an LG leak version.

I still haven't received the JB update for my LGOG. My wife has taken it from me though. I'm back to my Note.

Robert,

I used this method in order to get the update. Taken from Sprint Community.

1. Go to Settings -> Apps -> All

2. Find Google Services Framework.

3. Tap on Force Stop.

4. Select Clear Data.

5. Head back to the Sprint Optimus G System Updates, Do a PRL update then Profile Update then Firmware Update. Finally go to LG software update and you should see it there waiting for you to download.

Do it and let me know.

    • Was in Red Hook again and I swear there are more Link5G sites as there are Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T small cells combined in the entire neighborhood. It seemed like every other street I turned down had one installed. Hopefully carriers will start hopping on them soon. Seems like a lot of effort to go through for no one to use them.  — — — — — T-Mobile converted the Sprint site on top of NYU Langone Brooklyn in Sunset Park. I first mapped one sector of it back in November 2023 but I thought it was a small cell so I never pinned it but I ran into another sector today which caught me off guard. I'm unable to find a permit for the conversion so it's definitely a surprise. There's another T-Mobile site 1 block away that T-Mobile initially installed back in 2019 so I'm kinda surprised they're keeping both considering the Sprint conversion is on a much taller building and coule potentially provide much better coverage to the entire area.
    • Still not seeing any ULS postings for pending T-Mobile UScellular merger in Dane county Wisconsin.
    • Came across another Crown Castle Solutions multi-tenant oDAS node in Brooklyn. Located at 40.7002286, -73.9612666. Nothing on T-Mobile or AT&T so I'm assuming these are all Verizon nodes that Crown Castle is anticipating another carrier will hop on down the line.
