Note 2 stuck on EVDO while my wife's GS3 is on HRPD

Recommended Posts

Congrats. It happened to me in the past with my epic4 og. Couldn't update prl for weeks when I tried then it would work all of the sudden out of no where.

Question, how do you know if your phone is in hrpd or evdo?

Settings --> About device --> Status

There look for a "mobile network type"

I am so glad to hear your issue has resolved itself. I wouldn't want that nightmare you had.

Anyways, he says there's nothing he can do to fix it and since I have the insurance all he could do is replace it for a refurbished one but that if except the update PRL/Profile everything else was working, that if he was me he wouldn't do it as he knows the quality of the refurbished phones. I dont know if he benefits from not giving me a refurbished phone, but this coupled with my initial doubts, I decided to keep mine.
The quality of Sprint/Samsung's reconditioned phones is actually quite good. They always put a new screen, bezel, and housing on, so it looks good as new. My sister has been running a recon GS3 since day one, and she has had zero problems, and wouldn't know the difference. Of course, there is the rare issue where replacement devices don't work, but that seems to be less often than new ones failing.

As you said, yes. Sprint repair centers are "graded" on their rate of exchange vs repair, triage, etc. Most pay out extra commission/spiff if their rates are low enough. If their exchange rates are too high for too long, it's one more step towards a pink slip.

That being said, if it were my store, I'd have exchanged it after checking for provisioning issues. Issue resolution is key.
