Somebody on another forum got his and reported that it comes with the SIM pre-installed and no SIM removal tool. Otherwise exact same as the phones sold from the Play store.
Mine should be here anytime now. I will let you know if I find anything different.
Cool, thanks.

Anyone recieved a Sprint ordered device yet?
I just got on chat with Sprint to confirm if it would have a SIM card with it, and the rep said she didn't know if it did. It won't come in until late this evening (UPS always comes by after 8 pm) and I was trying to figure out if I should go by the Sprint store this afternoon for a SIM.
-
I guess I don't understand why it makes a difference where the phones are bought from. As far as I know they are the exact same device and software as the one Sprint is selling. It will be interesting to see some Sprint sold devices get activated so we can see if they have any issues.
Mine comes in from Sprint this evening and I will report back. I have LTE throughout Raleigh/Durham now, and will see if the N5 has any issues.

160 limit has been around for a long time..ever wonder why Twitter message lengths came from?
Talk about a pointless data dump.
Currently my sprint phone will let me typ the past 160 and it will auto split the message, as has every other phone I've owned in the last 8 years on Sprint service.
However, many are saying that the Sprint Nexus 5 Hangouts app won't let them type past 160 characters. It won't go past and auto split as all the photos especially have always done. Yet, those with ATT aren't having that issue.

So I am reading that it's only Sprint that won't allow an SMS over 160 characters on Hangouts. The other carriers SMS will auto split.
Anyone know what the logic on that would be? Something with the network or CDMA?
-
No, it stops me at 160.
Wonder if it's possibly a carrier thing - saw an ATT poster saying his was fine - even posted a screen shot with it showing 97/3, as in 97 characters on the 3rd split
-
Just wanted to follow up, sending SMS via Hangouts magically started working this morning. I guess it was Sprint-side.
And just to echo everyone else; hot damn this thing is fantastic on LTE.
Can you text more than 160 characters and it auto splits?
-
So about the 160 character text limit on Hangouts - some users on Android Central are saying that their's is allowing them to text past 160 and it's auto splitting like most other text apps.
Can everyone that has one so far confirm that it does or does not let you text past 160 characters?

Does anyone know of a true bumper case for this phone where there's absolutely nothing on the back, not even a clear panel, there is simply a bumper around the phone edges? Lots of these for the iPhone but I am not finding one for the Nexus 5.
Like this??
-
Well the shipping confirmation from Sprint said "overnight" but the tracking shows it is ground and won't arrive until Friday evening. Oh well....
-
Meaning that there is not separate messaging app besides hangouts.
I meant I would download a separate SMS app if it wouldn't auto split
-
I thought with the N5 that the messaging app has been combined with hangouts. Is that not correct?
Th post I got that from referred to this being the case with hangouts texting
-
probably not, it has been an issue on stock Google sms apps for a while
Guess I will have to use a texting app probably... I've never understood why you would not have such a user friendly feature like that if you are making what is supposed to be a top notch device.
-
When composing an SMS message with Hangouts, is it normal behavior for it to just stop typing once the 160 character limit is reached? It seems a bit crazy that it doesn't auto-split the message.
Ooh this would be a huge pain, although I'm sure something that would get an update fix

Well I got notification that my sprint upgrade Nexus 5 was shipping today, overnight for tomorrow evening hopefully.
Not excited reading alot of the LTE/voice hand-off issues, hopefully they'll be fixed with an update soon.
I echo the sentiments of others that we could use several N5 threads, specifically for some of the issues so they can be laid out and answered without sorting through 50 pages of varying topics.

I like to keep data turned off when I'm not using it to save battery when I'm going to be away from a charger all day so I liked the data toggle. Not a big deal, I can still do it through the menus. I've never really noticed problems with Wifi connectivity with the phone but if Wifi's improved, that can't be a bad thing. I won't be able to test it ntil I get home from work.
you can add a widget for it, used to have a widget to toggle the data on my S2.

I am pretty sure this phone doesn't like being in cars and going from tower to tower. This morning coming to work (35 mile trip) at highway speeds it was going all over the place to where to actually dropped the data network and wouldn't reconnect. I had to reboot the phone to get data again. What worries me is if you read about the LG G2 they have very similar issues with LTE and radio signals in general.
Mine should be coming from Sprint in the next couple days. And I'll give mine until the return period, but if it still has radio or LTE issues, it will be going back.

Ive had the device activated since 6pm yesterday. Initial thoughts:
- I need to find a different case, i have the Spigen Neo-Hybrid and it is way to bulky, i will probably pick up a Diztronic case
This is one of my problems with 90% of the cases. They take a great feeling phone, and make it bulky and cheap feeling. There's some good conversation on the "accessories" thread.
-
Yeah, I am starting to get that feeling also, but I really won't give up hope for a Friday delivery until Thursday. Even if they don't get them until tomorrow they could get them out pretty fast and send them out overnight. Don't know if that is how they operate but it is possible. What has me more skeptical is that on the Sprint website if you go to order one they are still quoting the Nov 8 delivery date. Now I know the vast majority of people are buying through Google Play, but when you consider how fast they sold out, I find it hard to beleive that Sprint has not sold through their pre-order quantity yet.
This is my first pre-order with sprint, what is their track record on Pre-orders? I have done several with VZW and always got my device on or before the date promised.
I was just hoping for some type of update like "orders are in the warehouse and expected to ship tomorrow". The free shipping is 2 day ship, so I doubt they'll be overnighting them in order to get them by Friday.
-
yeah I don't think the Sprint devices are going to deliver by Friday, just my feeling at this point. There still is no update from Sprint on the preorders and customer service reps just repeat the same thing about them, "that they will do their best to deliver by Friday, Nov 8". I tried asking if they have at least recieved them in the warehouse, and am getting nowhere.
-
Ya, the sales chat is always open. Customer service link goes down when they are extremely busy.
They didn't have any problem responding to my non sales related questions
-
Has anyone been able to use the regular customer service chat today? I havent had the option all day.
I used it for a few minutes. I seem to find it pop up when I wander over to the "shop" pages or the "change plan" pages. Wouldn't doubt if they have a trigger for it based on where you're at on the site.

This... Why not let Sprint pay for $200 of this phone?
