  1. Pity that the store employees are typically so woefully uninformed, or we could infer that the Play Store version = Sprint version.

I'm just hoping that Sprint version is offered immediately, and subsidized. I'd rather pay $200 than $350.

  2. I have my upgrade available now. Will be waiting on this one. My wife is ready to ditch the Galaxy S2 and I'm ready to hand down my EVO LTE to her.

What has been the experience so far from LG phone users? Any thoughts on why Google decided to go to LG instead of back to Samsung or HTC?

  3. So I'm just curious for some perspective from you experienced guys out there -

It seems to me that the LTE speeds are extremely poor unless you are right next to a tower. Does the signal just not carry very well? Will this improve as more towers get lit up?

I have never gotten better than 10 mbps down and I average between 3-8 mbps. These are in some of the most common LTE areas of Raleigh. I've tested on Six Forks/540, along 540/Leesville area, and in Brier Creek. As well as in North Durham near Horton Road.

What's the deal with the weak speeds or signal strength just not carrying far?

  4.

Do keep in mind that AT&T's network in Raleigh is GSM/W-CDMA 1900 + LTE 700. So, unlike most other markets where AT&T holds Cellular 850 MHz spectrum, all voice and fallback data in Raleigh operate over PCS 1900 MHz spectrum -- the same as with Sprint. So, unless AT&T has a much greater site density in Raleigh, overall coverage across the metro should be similar to that of Sprint.

I wok within range of a 4G tower, but the signal stops when I go inside the building. My buddy has AT&T and runs consistent 20/10 mb speeds when I can barely get 3G.

  5. If ATT seems attractive to you and you can live with a low bucket of data, pick up a new number and ATT and give it a spin for a few days. Be sure to do it within 1.5-2 weeks or less from the end of you sprint billing cycle. You could be in one of the areas where ATT has built out and has capacity, or you could be in an area of strained capacity. Some people report fantastic call quality on ATT, others (like where I am) have a gargled , hissing call dropping mess.

Should you decide not to stay with ATT, they're going to hit you for the activation fee and a month of service still... for that reason, you could always try the ATT network via a prepaid provider.

From what I can tell, they have an excellent network here in Raleigh. Couple guys at work have it, and get great 4G speeds in the office, when I am barely getting 3G.

  6. just throwing this out there as a point to consider. you said you only used 1 gig of data, was that because you don't use data that much? or is your area so slow on data on sprint you don't use data that much? if you switch and have faster speeds you might find yourself using more data because of the faster speeds.

Possibly both, but more so because I am on wifi at home and anywhere I can get it. That Gb was mainly me, my wife used .2 of a gb

  7. Nah, I left that employer. Best I can tell, I don't qualify for any other discounts. I'd prefer to stick around, as I will have to finagle my way out of contract, but I think I can work it out to not pay the ET fees. If it comes to paying fees, I will probably have to stick it out for another 6 months.

  8. He didn't really rage. He just said the coverage is better, Which is quite true. But that soon will change, I was going to leave sprint. But I'm giving them 2 more years to prove me wrong :P

Thanks, and yes that was my plan too. With my discount ending, I am reassessing that plan now.

  9. Long story short I no longer will be receiving a 23% discount on my base plan. It was saving me about $25 per month. Now I'm paying $160 per month for 2 lines. ATT will run me $140, and their coverage is better from everything I've seen. The data won't matter bc last month we only used 1gb total, and that plan with ATT will give me 6gb.

  10.

Yes, copy the data over but try reformatting it from the phone itself. Also, what size memory card, what speed class is the card and what brand?

What a pain this is turning out to be...

Copied all the data to a folder on my laptop. Then the phone does t have an option to format, so I do it from the pc. Then reload all the data. Pop it in. Not recognizing any music still. Go to settings, shows SD card and shows data. Put it back into PC, now trying to clean up some of the folders and sub folders...

  11. Maybe your card is on its way to being corrupted. I recommend you make a back up of whatever is on your card then re-format the card.

I may try that. Simplest way would be to just plug it in to the laptop and copy the data over to a folder, then reformat and reload right?

  12. I have had the same problem. I blow the slot out with computer air cleaner this works for me. Ever month or so I have to do this since I work in a dusty environment at times. Also a good otter box case helps keep dust and dirt out.

I'll give that a try... thanks for the idea
