  1. Bill I have a quick favor to ask you.

If you go to this link and enter your MEID does it say your device can be activated on GSM and CDMA or GSM only?  Trying to see if all we really need is the correct SIM or if some devices have been whitelisted while others aren't.

My N5 shows GSM and CDMA.  But my Pure only shows GSM currently.

    Here is what it says:

My account is paid in full, not sure why they are saying that.  Perhaps in a few days it will all change

  2. This isn't the first time Moto has botched engineering screens with mislabeled information, aka band 26 on first gen Moto X.

It is the same as the engineering screen on the 2014 Moto X and Nexus 6.  Except that it cannot even get the band right.  Band 40?!

This is not looking good at all...

Also, Band 25 LTE shows as Band 24 on the LTE Engineering screen!

  3. No, not likely.  Unfortunately, like HTC, Motorola probably has not updated its engineering screens to reflect SCC readout for 2x CA.  I feared this.  LG and Samsung, though, have updated their engineering screens.

Try *#*#DATA#*#* as another dialer code.  Just view -- do not edit.  But you should be able to view band settings, possibly even if 2x CA is enabled.

Here is what I see on that screen - Band 12 is there for CCA compatibility I assume?

The LTE-Available screen just shows the NID SID and BSID.

  4. How did you get a hold of a Tech Support Supervisor?  I keep getting passed on only to end up in the same menu.  Getting very frustrated.

I first spoke with someone in Tech Support to get my phone activated.  I've had better luck with them than regular CS.  Then after she failed to activate after two attempts, I asked to see if I could speak to a supervisor to make my voice heard that this botched launch is unacceptable and that this should be researched.  Of course he really didn't seem to care.  So YMMV.  In the end, he only gave me the credit, he did nothing else for me, it was Chat that helped get me activated.

  5. UPDATE: My Moto X Pure Edition 32GB is up and running on Sprint!

Tech Support Supervisor was not helpful at all, he kept telling me that his system said the SIM/UICC card was invalid.  While on hold, I tried to activate again, all looked good until it came up saying:

    MotoXChat.PNG

I opened the Chat Window (see the far right-hand side of the screenshot for the button) and gave the rep my IMEI (with the last # left off) and the ICC ID from my SIM card and it was activated within 5 minutes.

So the following SIM is correct:

    SIMGLW446C
    SKU: CZ2144LWC

    UPC: 019962040146

I was able to buy that SIM from the local Best Buy Mobile store for $9.99 + Tax.  Since I was still on the phone with the Tech Support Supervisor, I politely asked for an account credit for having to pay for the SIM.  He credited my account $15.

So that's what it takes to get it going.  I hope this information helps others.

  6. Ugh, Sprint is having trouble activating, even though the website did not throw out an incompatible error, it just said I had to call to get my phone activated.  Of course, it always does that whenever I want to switch a phone from line to line or activate an older device.  Now I'm on hold waiting for tech support to get a lead or supervisor for guidance.

  7. Looks like this is the correct SIM, based on what The Playbook image said.  I will be giving it a try in about 20-30 minutes when my wife gets home from Best Buy Mobile.

    SIMGLW446C

    SKU: CZ2144LWC

    UPC: 019962040146

    Works with:
    HTC One M9
Motorola Moto X Pure (3rd Generation)
    Nexus 6 from Google Play**
    Nexus 6 from Motorola**

It may be $10 down the drain, but I will get it back in credit from Sprint, per the rep I just spoke to.  I just need to message Sprint Care on Twitter and have it done.  Sprint dropped the ball and as a 15 year customer who wants them to succeed, it infuriates me that the folks running the retail side only care about sales, not supporting the customer and the network.  Sprint, more than ANY other network needs to be customer focused and ready take care of issues and provide the best support.

    LG G3

Yes, plenty of folks are having trouble. I switched to Google Messenger and everything works again and it doesn't feel as clunky/bloated as Hangouts was.  It looks like Google screwed up the APN information for some providers.  Friends with AT&T, Sprint and Verizon phones have run in to this problem with the most recent update.  I really cannot comprehend how Google missed this.  Do they not have folks testing Hangouts prior to release?

  8. I would really like to see Sprint get more tablets in its lineup.  I had been hoping for the Nexus 9, but it never came to be.  The S2 in a minimum of 32GB configuration would be a welcome addition to Sprint's aging lineup.

  9. So has anyone actually got a nexus 9 lte on sprint?

If so how does it work?

    it's on sale $379/32gig/lte @ http://www.expansys-usa.com/google-nexus-9-unlocked-lte-32gb-indigo-black-268547/

That model does not support Sprint's LTE Bands.  Even Google's Play store listing no longer lists it as Sprint compatible.  Sadly, I don't believe anyone has had success with using the N9 LTE on Sprint.  I picked up a Zing hotspot and just use that in the family SUV on road trips.

  10. ...

Recommendation: Bring a external battery and charging cord to the parks.  People use mobile devices a lot when they are there.

Which is sad.  I miss the days of the Wait Times boards and paper-based fastpasses.  It was a much more enjoyable experience than being a slave to our smartphones or tablets just to navigate the park.

  11. Our shared data screen is broken on the Sprint website.  Where it breaks it down by line, the usual usage bar indicators are missing.  In the Sprint Zone app, it says we've each used Kilobits of data, yet Sprint's website says we've used 8,851,496KB/ 83,886,080KBand have 13 days left in our billing cycle.  We have 7 lines sharing, one is a Zing WiFi hotspot.

I think your issue, as well as mine is due to Sprint getting ready to finish the overhaul of the website.  Give it some time (or a billing cycle) and things should hopefully iron out over time.

  12. I noticed great (sub-45ms) ping times while in the Western Burbs to visit family last week.  In North Carolina (outside of Charlotte), I usually see 55 to 80ms ping times.  I hope it improves here soon because LTE seemed much faster in IL, even on B26.
