  1. I've been trying to keep up with this thread as much as possible, and don't remember seeing it mentioned, but what should I do when I'm going through the initialization process and I get: "Error. Initialization process timed out. Press TRY AGAIN at new location or SHUTDOWN the device."? Does this mean the location doesn't work and I need to move it? I have gotten this error three times now after getting to 20% and sitting there for about 20 minutes or so. Have restarted the device and tried TRY AGAIN a couple of times.

Getting the same here in Hickory, NC (Office) and Conover, NC (Home).  The Charlotte market must not be ready, despite the Sprint Executive Relations gentleman saying my business address was available for the MB in Hickory.  I was shocked that I got my MB the same week I contacted Sprint via the booster email to request it after being originally turned down.

  2. Today I finally got a Mini. I sold my Air 2 earlier this week as I stopped using it altogether and sold my wife's iPad 4 today (a declutter exercise but that's a different story).

In place of the 9.7" I got the family's first 8" iPad. I opted not to go for the big daddy iPad Mini 4 but instead got a more modest Mini 2.

The Mini 2 had a massive saving over the Mini 4 but didn't have a 64GB option being an EOL device. I decided that that was OK and we'd make it work. Space Gray was the colour choice of the day!

The new Mini immediately went into a Griffin Survivor All-Terrain case for the necessary kiddy protection. My son was soon swinging it around with one hand and quite OK with it...I think it'll prove a good choice in years to come!

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the iPad Mini 2?  I see that Best Buy had the iPad Mini 4 (64GB) Sprint model for $379, but they went out of stock this afternoon.

  3. I submitted a request yesterday and received a call today and she sounded upbeat and ready to get the ball rolling until I admittted that the office is located in North Carolina.  She said it was being offered in the Chicago market only at this time, but could expand nationwide.  I asked if there was a waitlist for other markets and she said not at this time.  Bummer, we could have really used it as we do not have WiFi for general employee use and we fall back to Voice only :(

  4. New beta nougat update. Removes Samsung notes. But it's now in play store. And other bug fixes.

Beta Nougat user here too.  I sure hope this helps with the terrible lag that has started happening on my phone.  I've missed some calls due to the screen not lighting up to show who is calling.  Other times, the device won't wake up when I need it to and it makes me miss my Note 7 that much more.  For the Note Successor... I just want a Note 7 form factor with a Snapdragon 835 + 6GB RAM + 128GB Storage built in. All other features can remain the same.  They can throw in an IR emitter if they would like.  I miss that from my LG G3.

  5. If they truly want to keep customers happy, the headphone jack should remain. The Note 7 (now S7e) is my first Galaxy device...  I'll be honest, I really like the physical home button, but the one on the Note 7 was so much better than the super-clicky S7e.  Last but not least, bring back the IR emitter.

  6. For anyone that had a Note 7 and switched to an S7/S7 edge...

Please check your upgrade eligibility on Sprint.com.  I'm interested in knowing what your status says.  My Note 7 > S7 edge line says "Available for upgrade when you turn in your device," which is what it said last week when I still had the Note 7 activated on my line.

I turned in my Note 7 Saturday and already received the IB credits and $100 Samsung credit to my account on Monday.  I hope this status remains so we will be able to trade in and upgrade to an S8 or Note 8 when they arrive without having to pay 12 payments or more.  Of course it could just be that Sprint hasn't updated something in their systems.

  7. I use Google's clock app from the Play Store. It has this feature.

I do the same and just use the Google clock widget for my home screen to make it easily accessible.  I also love the Fade-in feature to gently wake me up.  It has made a big difference in my grumpiness in the morning :P

Has anyone roamed on Carolina West Wireless LTE yet? I knew US Cellular but just saw the new(?) lte roaming partner today in my logs. I know they signed an agreement in 2014 but I have not roamed on them yet. I will try and watch next time I go through there.

provider                         plmn      gci              pci    tac      strongest_rsrp strongest_latitude strongest_longitude

    Carolina West Wireless 310130 _0C39EF02 445 40000 -103               36.532728            -80.750528

Edit: It also may be nothing I have AT&T and TMobile also in my logs.

Not yet, but I may have some free time tomorrow to go for a drive to check it out.  I believe this is just a start and not yet full, comprehensive coverage on all Carolina West tower sites.  I'm interested to see how quickly my S7 Edge will pick it up and if it will show roaming or not.  Carolina West normally does not show a Roaming indicator, it has always shown as native, but Data and Voice Roaming must be turned on.  I will keep a close eye on SCP around here as CWW has always been a great Sprint partner.

  9. This just in: "Every person with a Note 7 is upgrade eligible!": https://www.reddit.com/r/Sprint/comments/57ctu1/every_person_with_a_note_7_is_upgrade_eligible/

Sprint has flipped the "Eligible for Upgrade" switch for all customers with Note7 Devices on their account.  Both mine and my wife's show as upgrade eligible.  Now we have to figure out what we are going to do.  We really love our Note 7's and only ever slow charge them.  I guess we will return and go back to our MXPE's.

  10. That's how I seen the 7 Edge in the UAG case a customer had in the grocery store. Seems like the edge is vulnerable if dropped.

It's vulnerable in all of the cases I've looked into, including the Otterbox Defender, based on the pictures on the website.  Personally, I want a case that will protect this phone all of the way around.  I don't particularly care about being able to see the edge of the screen light up, though case manufacturers could figure out a way to use translucent TPU or holes/perforations on the sides to let the light/patterns come through.  I'd be willing to pay a premium for a case that will better protect my phone.

  11. Change the plan ;) lol

Yeah, I'd love to kick his line to the curb and make him pay for it, especially since he is not going to be part of the family much longer.  If I switch plans, I lose my Netgear Zing and I don't care to pay $$$ for a separate plan.  $20 is already too steep when I typically use less than 3GB per month.  I keep it for when the family goes on a road trip and we use 30-40GB...damn YouTube Kids.  I still don't know why Google doesn't put a quality setting on that app so I can limit bandwidth usage.

  12. It's a grey area, all Sprint has to do is not offer premium upgrades and it becomes the norm that you'll get network side compression unless you're on WIFI.

That's the only way to stop the network from being crippled by people who refuse to pay for home internet or spend their entire work day watching Netflix instead of working.

I want the ability to turn on network side compression/bandwidth limitation for my Brother In Law who uses 18-20GB per month of our 80GB share plan.  Maybe someday.

  13. B41 LTE has been unavailable periodically for the last 24 hours and I've dropped to 3G (EVDO) for periods of time over the last 6 days.  What shocked me was just how usable 3G has become.  I was streaming Google Play Music (high quality setting) without issue :)  That is a new one for me since 3G used to be unusable.

  14. 3G only today, uptown Charlotte

Sent from my 0PJA2 using Tapatalk

I've been seeing 3G only off an on (hours at a time) up here in Hickory.  Thing is, it still works quite well for just about everything.  I cannot imagine all of Sprint's customers are falling back to 3G, otherwise the network would be slowed to a crawl.

  15. Was just in Denton North Carolina this weekend and let me tell you if you had data service it was 3G only and basically unusable. That town seems like the land that Sprint forgot a lot of potential customers there wonder what's going on

From the looks of the Sprint coverage map, Denton is confirmed to still be only a 3G area.  It will be upgraded...(as others around here say) SoonTM
