  1. Has anyone noticed that they increased the price of their contract unlimited plan to $85 a month now?  I go onto my account and select change plan (I'm currently on a 450 min/unlimited data plan).  And it takes me to a page showing that plan.

This isn't anything new. My Way unlimited has been $85 since at least January 2014.

  2. So after switching back to a Nexus 5,i started using Hangouts for SMS texting, which I've come to like.

But then I needed a voicemail app, so I figured why not use Google Voice.

After dealing with other learning curves of Google Voice, today suddenly I'm not getting texts in Hangouts. After realizing no texts were coming through, I checked Google Voice. They were all recieved in that app, but with no notifications. However, I checked the settings and I ha e it checked to get my texts via the messaging app instead of the Voice app. Setting is also applied as main texting app in Hangouts.

Any ideas guys? I can't seem to get these apps to play nice.

  5. I would be careful in making that assertion. Nothing in the Galaxy Note II's RF output figures showed it to be an exceptional performer, yet it was. We cannot judge by ERP/EIRP alone.

    AJ

Time will only tell, I guess. I'd still sit this one out in my opinion.
  6. I thought the note 4 would be around the same RF wise as the GS5. In my opinion the Nexus 5 is performing around the same as my M8, and around the same as my Old LG G2. The stock up-to-date flagship Tri-band devices seem to be performing very similar in my experience lately.

Nope. S5 blows Note 4 away in RF Testing.
  7.

I just submitted my pre-order for a Note 4. I loved the Note 2 (I love the size), but I really wanted a tri-band phone about a year ago, so I sold my Note 2 online and got the Nexus 5.

You may want to cancel that preorder and wait on official word from the Nexus 5 (2014) / Nexus 6. The Note 4 is not the beast the Note 2 used to be. Stay tuned for more details. [emoji6]

Sprint Doubles the Data of AT&T Promotion with Sprint Family Share Pack and Sprint Business Share Offers

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), October 01, 2014 - Sprint (NYSE: S) continues its pledge to provide U.S. consumers “double the data” compared to AT&T and Verizon for the same or lower monthly price. Starting today, Sprint is offering double the data of AT&T’s recently announced promotion by adding value to the high-end data allowances on data share plans. These changes, in combination with Sprint’s capacity-rich 2.5 GHz spectrum position and America’s Newest Network, further illustrates Sprint’s commitment to deliver the best value to consumers.

    Sprint Family Share Pack

Beginning today, new and existing Sprint customers will get virtually double the sharable data, for the same price as AT&T, on the 32GB, 40GB and 60GB Family Share Pack plans. This gives customers 60GB, 80GB, or 120GB of data – at no extra cost -- if they sign up by Oct. 31 at Sprint retail stores, Sprint.com or Sprint Telesales. Promotion will be available in additional retail outlets soon. Existing customers on the current Sprint Family Share Pack plans that want to take advantage of the “double the data” promotion can visit their local Sprint Retail store or dial *2 for Customer Care from their wireless device by Oct. 31.

For customers switching their number to Sprint from another carrier, Sprint is waiving the access charge for handsets, tablets and mobile broadband devices on 20GB or higher data allowances for up to 10 lines.1 All devices must be purchased through Sprint Easy Pay or the Sprint iPhone for Life Plan.

  9. I was coming back to correct my stance. As you all see, it is coming to Sprint. I'm a little shocked as I didn't think it would have a PCS 1900 radio, but oh well. I still don't think it will be able to replace a whole separate phone though.

  10. whoops i didnt even realize i was posting on the wrong topic for my area lol. and yeah i know my phone is only a single band LTE. i picked it just for this purpose because i use SVLTE. its a feature i like and i will pretty much refuse to get any Tri Band phone unless they include this. of course i just got my note 3 so i have a couple of years to see if they ever include this.

Highly doubt you're ever going to see SVLTE. Hey you don't have it now with no LTE in Lima. [emoji6]

Having Tri-band completely outweighs SVLTE. Your only hope is VoLTE and as you see that's going to be a while as well.

I don't know your daily requirements for SVLTE but the only time I found myself needing it was to look up the number to a pizza/Chinese place while talking to my wife and it's not the end of the world for me to tell her that I'll call her right back. The other times, I already found myself in WiFi at home.

  11. Gonna be back in Columbus this Friday for a concert. Excited to see how much Sprint has improved since the last time I was there a year ago. Service was absolutely horrid at the Bluestone for the concert I attended then.

Well over 1.2k people are attending the concert on Friday and it looks like I'll have band 41. High expectations!

Should be decent. Don't expect perfection.

  12. Note 3 and im in the lima area

Lima is part of the Toledo market here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4462-network-vision-site-map-toledo-market/

Lima is 3G 1900 complete. Don't expect 1x800 or LTE 800 for a long while until the IBEZ is resolved. LTE 1900 should be there as soon as backhaul is delivered. I'm not sure on the status of LTE 2500/2600 there.

Also you'll need a new phone when either LTE 800 & LTE 2500/2600 becomes available as your Note 3 will not pick up either.
