I was continuing your logic of the Z3 compact not being available means it is not a flagship. You just keep moving the goalposts.

First the flagship gets it own event. They were released at the same event simultaneously.

Then they have less features. They have the same features.

That being said, we obviously differ on this discussion. That is OK. Discussions are always a good thing.

iPhone 6+ isn't the flagship device. Released/Announced same as iPhone 6.

Z3 and Z3 Compact don't have same features. Z3 is built with better products and 1080p screen amongst others.

If only one device is coming to the U.S. and being promoted by a manufacturer that's their Flagship.

    Better response?

  2. Sony disagrees ???? http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/News/Press/201409/14-080E/

    Sony describes them as flagships.

I understand your perception of it. But Sony has never separated the devices. They are both flagship in their eyes. That is how they were launched at IFA, that is how they sell them on their site. It is only a US perception that they are not on level footing. Elsewhere that they are sold they are generally shown on the same level. At least that has been my perception.

Can you walk into any of the Big 3 and buy a compact?
  3. The specs are roughly the same? What is the definition of "flagship"? The Z3 compact pretty much fits the bill.

The phone the manufacturer releases as their top presser for the year. If the compact was determined by them to be their flagship it wouldn't be called the Z3 Compact, it would be called the Z4 and it wouldn't have been released after the Z3.

Look at every manufacture's Flagship phone. It always releases first and leads with a new name sake, not Mini, Sport, Maxx, Compact, Plus/+ or E8.

  4. That's certainly debatable. http://www.theverge.com/2014/9/3/6097817/the-xperia-z3-compact-is-sonys-true-new-flagship-phone

At the very least, you have to grant it "flagship-caliber" status since Sony didn't really change much between the two except for the size.

That's the Verge's opinion. Which I don't disagree with the compact maybe being a better suite but Sony doesn't consider the compact their flagship.
  5. So how is that a safety concern?  Just curious.  Also do you know if devices that are actually hotspot are in the same ship?  The reason I bring this up is I have a chrome cast device on my TV and its only able to see 2.4 and connect to 2.4 wifi.  Ive recently discovered how much more throughput i get out of 5ghz on my phones hotspot so I keep it on 5, but after that discovery unfortunately I discovered the issue with the chrome cast only connecting to 2.4.  I have since gotten a temp fix for 80 bucks.  bought a network extender and the chrome cast connects to that 2.4 signal.

Doesn't have anything to do with safety. The WiFi radio shares the same path. Same reason why you don't have SVLTE/SVLTE on Tri-Band Devices.

I haven't looked at HotSpot devices on the FCC, I'm sorry.

  8. Greetings Everyone.  So I am trying to figure something out.  So I have hotspot on my GS5 and I use it quite a bit.  Well i recently decided to try out 5Ghz instead of the 2.4Ghz.  My only issue here is my Chromecast will not connect to 5Ghz wifi, only 2.4Ghz.  So I suppose my question here is, Is there anyway to keep both 2.4 and 5Ghz enabled?  I keep running into an issue when i enable 5Ghz mode 2.4 gets disabled and visa versa.

Any suggestions would be great!  Thanks everyone.

Nope. I believe when I was looking through FCC docs for the Note 4 that it will not allow simultaneous broadcasting of both. I'm pretty sure that would be the same for the GS5.
