  1. Just an update on the Forrest ave tower in Danville. It has 1 NV style antenna on each side (3 sides) with 3 RRUs behind each one, there appears to be 2 legacy antennas remaining on each side as well. Each antenna has all 6 cables plugged into it in the front for LTE, 800, and PCS, I'm leery to approach the base of the tower (see above) plus I'm not sure which equipment is which due to their being 5 sets of antennas on this location.

I also went to the Hightower Dr location to see if it has been installed but there was a lot of unfamiliar looking stuff and I had no camera (it's a much shorter tower than the others in the area) to grab images for us.

  2. Wait, wait, wait - they CALLED THE FRACKING POLICE????  Um...what for?  To report that you were photographing the alien landing site?  What were these people thinking?  And what came of the situation?  I'm unbelievably curious.  Do tell!!  This is rich!!

P.S...anyone getting LTE near Clays Mill and Man O' War yet on the South Side?  Sensorly shows a small blip near there but it's of course entirely possible that coverage is more widespread there than has yet been mapped.  I grew up there and would love to know!  Thanks!

It was an older individual according to the police they thought I might be making plans to damage/sabotage it. The officer was pretty cool but asked that I delete the photos in case there was any issues afterwards. The access road to the tower goes right under some of their windows so if I get back over to it with a decent camera I'll try and snap some pictures and boogie out fast. I was using a Bushnell Spotting Scope from my Mom's yard and a nearby warehouse parking lot today to check out the work.

  3. In Danville today there was workers on the tower near Forrest Ave putting up what appeared to be NV panels and RRUs. From the "How to Identify" thread it looks like they've been wired for all Sprint bands but I was hesitant to approach the base since the last time I tried to take pictures the people next door called the police, so I'm not sure how much is complete with the site.

  4. While I was sitting at home (in Danville) doing some data backups I installed SignalCheck lite on my phone for my next road trip to Bowling Green in a week, but to my surprise LTE was popping up on the screen. I'm not sure if this is just a glitch, or what and I'm not sure how to take screenshots on my EVO LTE to post. A little more hope

Well scratch that. It continued flashing LTE on SignalCheck until a few minutes ago when I updated my PRL. Now it's nothing.

  6. Service in Danville, Nicholasville, and Lancaster at peak times has degraded lately in my opinion. I'm regularly finding my data connection timing out on 3g and performing at pre-NV speeds while on LTE and experiencing several dropped calls. It hasn't even been soft launched yet so I won't bitch about it too loudly, but at this point I expect it can only get better.

  7. Spent the day with the lady doing some mapping in the Nicholasville/South Lex/Wilmore area. Purple is now south of the large bridge over the Kentucky river and approaching the intersection with 34! It's growing, we just need to keep the temp down and the ground dry so the crews can work.

Also did some speedtests at Brannon Crossing and was kinda disappointed to see <2mb speeds and triple digit pings in comparison to the 6mb I had a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure backhaul and other details are still being worked on...

  8. Alert! Alert! Alert! LTE is now live in Frankfort! I just completed an initial mapping with Sensorly. The signal started where I didn't expect it, but when I saw it I started mapping. The latest excepted site is not transmitting yet, but should be soon. It took over a week to 2 weeks for the first site to start transmitting. Another good day today!! Thanks again to you Robert for all you do! Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2

It looks like a tower somewhere between Lawrenceburg and the 127/BG Parkway intersection went live as well. They're moving at a nice clip right right now

  9. Did a little mapping in Lexington last night. Picked up 4g on my girlfriends 3g/WiMax/LTE hot spot as far south as Toyota on Nicholasville using it and a little before Brennan Crossing on my HTC EVO LTE. Also had LTE while eating dinner at Asukas in Brennan Crossing which I was a little surprised considering in the past I've had horrible cellular service in there in the past. I could have spent much more time and would like to have mapped west of Nicholasville road as much as we got to on the east as well.

This was taken at the Brennan Crossing stoplight which is on the edge of reception for my phone. Very excited to see Lexington go purple as quickly as it has. If we could dry up for a few days we might get some more in other places too...

  10. Somebody upload that data to sensorly.  I have a feeling something is going on in Lexington.  I have been having data outages on Tates Creek rd. near Man O War and Lerado.  Earlier by Lerado I was getting up to 2.3 megs download.....I usually get .5 megs at best.  Something is happening!!!!

I've been stuck in Danville for a few nights now with some side work and I've noticed that we are losing data service (3g) entirely around 7-830. Not for the entire duration just in the time period for a few minutes at a time, my girlfriend has a Virgin Mobile Hotspot she uses for work and it's connection has been real flaky since last week. I dunno if any of that means anything though, and the last time I tried to take pics of one of our towers in town I had the cops called on me and he asked that I delete the images. So I'm not sure if we've been upgraded or not

  11. Just had LTE briefly while driving on US27 south thru Nicholasville.  Popped on and off a couple of times and got a screen shot of speed test, 5.02 up and .12Mbps down.  Ping 59ms.  Got another at 13.84Mbps up and .72Mbps down with a 78 ping.

Please post your screenshot in the Eastern Kentucky market thread for us! I'm heading to lexington tomorrow so I might take my external battery and map out the area via sensorly if I can

  12. Anybody in East KY seen any signs of progress? The other three markets anounced in the article back in October with East KY (North LA, Upstate New York East, and VT/NH/ME) have already posted significant progress. I've seen some backhaul work around Louisville but not much else. Hopefully soon for both of us.

It's been a month since this post and I've personally seen nothing going on locally. Richmond, Danville, Nicholasville, Lexington, Georgetown, nothing. Danville and Nicholasville both seem to have reasonable 3g service (1mbps) but Richmonds network is exceptionally poor and the southside of Lexington is just as bad. I know it's coming, I just have to have faith.

  13. Did you happen to get any tower pics? Would love to know if work has started, cabinets delievered, ect. Observing a lot of backhaul work around Louisville but not much else, yet. I'll get real excited when I start seeing equipment being delivered.

I will most likely be in Russellville on 4/1 - 4/3 visiting a friend and weather permitting I'm willing to come back to Danville the long way to check the tower if anyone has an idea where it is. Last time I was there I didn't see one and like Shores above, had terrible service while I was in Wendy's parking lot at lunch.

  14. I normally don't post stuff like this but I have a buddy thats a photographer who has spent a lot of time in Murray, Ky lately and says this afternoon he had 4g on his EVO LTE briefly around 2pm local. He's not an idiot and is a wireless nerd like a lot of us so I don't doubt his story. I told him to install Sensorly and let it run for as long as he could for the next few days to see if it pops up on the map anytime soon. I RARELY make it that far west in Ky but if any of you guys are out there it might be worth checking.

I'll try to get the post-work VZ and AT&T setups as well
