Ya, thats true. I forgot not everyone has LOS to a tower from 2/3rds of their home.

85% of NV sites accepted
54% of LTE accepted
Just need some 800 lovin around here. It sucks roaming on VZW out in the wilderness.

Looks like a new monopole might be going up in Richmond. Wonder if Sprint will be on it.
What is the general vicinity of the new tower? Was in Richmond today but I didn't see anything.

My question is can ice accumulation cause problems with the cell towers or is it possible for them to fall almost like power line polls due to ice. Just curious because we are supposed to get a lot of ice here in Little Rock.
A few years ago we had a substantial ice storm here in central Kentucky and all of the big 4 had substantial damage to equipment, mostly due to ice falling from the towers in large chunks and hitting the equipment below. Only one tower that I know of actually had equipment pulled from the rack by ice but it was a local WISP and not a carrier.

I'm not sure on the answer to this but tonight I stopped in at a restaurant on the southside of town and while waiting to get to the window for my tea I looked at my phone and noticed the LTE meter was reading -79. That's the lowest I've ever seen it anywhere. When I looked at SignalCheck it said I was connected to the Hightower rd tower (it was only a few hundred yards away LOS), which would mean it too has been upgraded and turned on recently. So that is 2 of 3 confirmed so far in Danville. Very nice.

ice storm, could bring down many hundreds of towers in a region, literally bring them down, as is completely collapsed on the ground down.
All Wireless coverage completely gone for 6 months or more, after such an event.
Been there done that in 2009. It really sucked, we had to use GMRS radios for a month to communicate with other family members. Sprint gave us the month for free too

I believe the second tower in Danville has been upgraded to LTE. Getting a much stronger LTE signal in areas served by that tower -100 to -89 lots of the time I'm on it, but my phone has issues keeping it once it finds it. That probably has more to do with the home I'm in than anything (basement mostly)

I have been using Tomato for several years across my routers. I haven't messed with any others except OpenWRT, but I ended up going back to the mater

Lots of Voice Roaming the past couple of days in Richmond and Danville. Similar behavior to the run-up for LTE launching but on the voice side of the service. Maybe 800mhz testing?

I'd like to see Blackberry turn it around but they're going to have to do some real marketing. I haven't seen a BB10 device yet being used by someone.

Only thing I found regarding WiFi calling with Sprint Kyocera devices. Kinda interesting that you can add any SIP service to it. Will keep that in mind when my biz service renews next month.

Add Evo LTE to the unsupported list

Lexington and Frankfort officially launched today.

My parents are interested in switching off of AT&T to Sprint and I'm interested in finding a feature phone for my Step-Dad that will support 800 voice when it becomes available. Do any of the current phones support it? Any rumors on upcoming devices that support it?

Since 4g was turned on here this past weekend, this has been the norm for service locally

I know this forum frowns on excessive speedtests (and I agree with that position), but given the opportunity to finally be able to test it in my own front yard I couldn't resist doing one on speedtest.net and sensorly
I'm very pleased

Well it's been a long wait, but it's finally over. Danville has LTE all over the east end and it's now in Lancaster at the 34/27 Intersection. Solid connection and performance. 6mb both ways.
I mapped what I could while driving and not endangering myself or others. The purple should be showing up soon on sensorly.
One more edit. Sitting at a friends in lancaster my phone has played the 800mhz notification sound a couple of times, but it doesn't seem to be sticking.

Is this on a tower that was already previously broacasting LTE? If so...I wonder if it's the start of 800 installation in the E KY market? I sure hope so!
No it was not showering us in LTE just yet, but I believe that maybe it was approved for 3g already. I have noticed a dramatic pickup in 3g performance in the last week or so, I'm not a sponsor right now so I can't confirm that fact. When this tower was initially getting NV equipment put up I was able to see (via spotting scope) that all three RRUs were in place and wired to the antennas for all of (800, PCS, LTE) the NV upgrades.
Lexington has come along nicely. It seems like they just turned on one more tower downtown and I'm getting a strong signal in most of downtown.
How can I tell what tower it is that I'm connect to?
Signal Check Pro. 1.99 app on google play that will tell you the location of the 1xRTT (voice) tower that you are using. There's a big thread about it in the General Forum and it should explain some things.

Well my suspicions were correct about something odd last night. My Mom had a new computer dropped off and I went over to show her how to set it up and happened to glance up at the tower (Mom lives a street over from Forrest Ave were the tower is located) to see a "fella in yella" up top working on the antenna array. I can only assume it's a good thing.

Lots of on/off roaming tonight while reading in the living room. I've been on verizon for a solid 10 minutes straight, and switching between the two networks. Kinda odd.
-
Well I had it for a week lost it today hopefully just working on the tower. I ran sensorly like 12 times but still not showing on there maps
If your Device is still accurate and you are using an iPhone 5 then it won't show up since the iOS version is incapable of mapping from what I understand. It's a limitation of the OS that prevents it from what I understand

FINALLY.
Richmond has LTE along 75 and the north side of the bypass and near campus (according to friend). Hopefully some of the EKU kids out there with sensorly installed will help flesh out the map.

In the past two weeks Eastern Kentucky has had 5 (2 LTE) sites accepted, and Western Kentucky has seen 36 (22 LTE) accepted.

Definitely getting this for my biz line on either the $5 or $10 plan and booting vonage after two painful years.

I saw that! Atlanta/Athens and Houston saw 34 & 55 respectively and a smattering of updates in Florida. Hopefully you're right about the mass switch on!
