Just completed an EVRC-NW call in PCS on my Nexus 5 here in Austin. The other end of the connection was a landline, and I could definitely tell the quality difference from the get-go, mainly from the background noise while the call was ringing. Of course, the actual voice part of the call was nice and clear too, through my headset.
Not completely sure when this enhancement happened, partially because I don't call non-cell phones much and as such the receiving end of the call is generally the limiting factor, but I like the quality increase. Need to find someone with an HD voice enabled Sprint phone to test that part of the conversation against.
I believe my home tower has had HD enabled as well in the past 4 days or so. I noticed tuesday night that all calls now have a different sound to them than before, I'm not good at describing this sort of thing really. I haven't made an end-to-end HD call yet but I expect it will happen soon.

Hooray! I've been waiting on this thread

Seems to be focused on wireless telecom
Just watched the first episode.
4.5/10
The show follows a family owned business out of New Jersey that owns a few towers and services them. They mount 2 omni directional antennas on a tower, and a microwave setup on another one. Kinda interesting but has a fair share of reality TV "drama" injected into it too. I'll give it another episode or two since I have an interest in the subject matter.

"And take a peek here for the ENTIRE presentation."
That one hour video was well worth the time to watch it. It explains the plan in detail and how he can get the USA there.
Agreed. I might have missed it, but he was on Charlie Rose before his presentation.

I have always assumed that Virgin Mobile users would get access to 800Mhz if their phone was capable.. I have the F3 so it is able to receive it.. Anyone with a Virgin Mobile phone actually have access to 800Mhz? According to the maps only one tower in my area has 800Mhz installed but it is the tower beside work. I have never received any 800 voice single but have always assumed it is just turned off.. i know most of East TN NV isn't finished yet and doesn't have 800.
PRL is 33030 which I believe is also the VM prl for S3 and several other 4g LTE devices..
Main reason I have stuck with VM is for 800 when officially launched bc I love the sprint 4G LTE. I am done with postpaid so going with regular Sprint will not happen! HAHA to many problems with every post paid carrier I have ever had. I love the freedom to do as I please whenever.
My girlfriend has the HTC Desire and picked up 1x800 in Indianapolis this past week.

I agree it seems you can almost always see a Vzw or AT&T vehicle where ever you go at tower site or heading out some where, but I have yet to see one Sprint or T-mobile vehicle in my life!
I've seen one work van with T-Mobile logos ways back during the Catherine Zeta Jones days. Never seen a Sprint vehicle, but I have seen a Clearwire one.

Which brings me to what I have been advocating for a long time. Sprint/Softbank needs to buy some fiber loops owning companies. Pronto!!!!
Agreed

I wish they made more videos like this targeted at the average end user as well as biz customers

That doesn't sound like typical Ergen/Dish

I could not do the update with 8.1 due to driver issues when it starts searching for the bootloader. I had to do the update with Windows 7 computer....
Yikes. Will final require a WinPC possibly? I'm in a pickle if that's the case

Going back to my off topic issues from the other day. Has anyone seen this?
Yep. I saw that in Richmond, Ky last weekend. If you clicked the map it took you to the tower location (I believe) but no address.

Nice!

No not yet.

Received the "Your market will be complete in the next month. Buy a phone!" sms today.

Why have this restriction at all? This calling should be allowed to work in Africa. Why limit something useful.

Perhaps a premium International version in the future for $5-$10 a month? Only thing I can come up with...

It says it needs a native CDMA signal to satisfy federal 911 regulations and it is only available for calls in the USA. Not sure if it would help with overseas calling or for those outside of useable Sprint coverage.
Maybe a roaming CDMA signal would qualify as well

This was always magentas awesome feature. Great that it's coming to Sprint. Be good if it worked everywhere because when traveling overseas it's a perfect solution.

Agreed. This is a feature I've wanted for a long time

So Dish is only handling the installation aspects of this?

Now that those places have launched officially, what kind of speeds do you all pull down on avg?
I avg 15-18mbps down and 7-11 up

Danville, Richmond, London, Somerset, and Louisville all launched today.
Is HD Voice now on? Mine appears to be working

Just called two friends that were in town this weekend one on Sprint and the other on Virgin mobile. Both calls sounded much clearer than before. Neat.
