I do not believe that Apple has lost anything. I feel that they see the current market and where it is headed with larger screens. Granted, information on the new phones is all over the board. It seems that the 4.7" phone will only be slightly larger than the 4" size. For those who want a bigger screen but not that much added size overall, this should fit the bill. For the 5.5" phone, if true that it is coming, it will fill the gap for the audience that would like or need a screen of that magnitude. If we look at the amount of Note 3's, LG 3's, Nexus 5's, etc... that have been sold over the past couple of years, Apple can capture a fair share of that market, they will blow theit revenue numbers out of the water.

Let us hope that all of the production rumors are not valid. Even if the 5.5" i6 becomes available in October or November, as soon as it is available for preorder, I will be heading to my local Sprint Store that I do business with, place my order and wait for the call when it comes in.

I know, we all hate rumors but this was an interesting read to me: http://appleinsider.com/articles/14/08/04/analyst-apple-could-equip-55-iphone-6-with-more-powerful-processor-than-47-model I doubt that Apple would cannibalize their own products but this is interesting.

I have been reading the same things. Release dates are all over the board, sapphire screen issues, metal casings not having uniform color thought the part, batteries.... Name something with the iPhone 6 and there has been a rumored issue. Only thing, the one that truly knows is Apple and they are quietly moving forward. I think that everyone will be surprised in a good way once the i6 comes to the market.

My thoughts fall in line with what has been said. If Apple were to delay the release just not to compete with the smaller version, you will have many people who have postponed their upgrade possibly moving to a different manufacturer beacuse they cannot wait any longer. If the release is only a month later in order to have enough stock to supply the demand in the short term, then I do not see an issue with that.
