According to @Trip I'm on a T-Mobile TAC.
Once you're in Field Test, It's under LTE -> NAS -> tai_list
Ah, so they do let you look at it.

dl_freq is the downlink frequency, not the TAC.
Since the Internet seems to have no pictures whatsoever of what that screen looks like, I can't tell you what Apple might have called it. If your part of the DC market is like mine and has moved to the T-Mobile TAC values, it should be something like 20234 or 20236. Mine in Alexandria is 20243. You get the idea of the range of values.

They might not even have it in there. They don't have APN in there any more so I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't find TAC.

Sounds like open access to both networks.
Seamless switching or manual switching?

So I had a thought. Does the AT&T roaming not work on my iPad because it has no SIM card?

Its only about 1.5 -2 years old as my old Arris modem didn't last very long.
I'm on my second Arris SB8200. First one would randomly decide to stop passing through IPv4 traffic.

The "Extended" alpha tag comes from the PRL Sprint loads onto phones. Note that PRLs are only necessary (or relevant) for CDMA connectivity.
On most all devices, the carrier name displayed is the voice carrier. Previously, Sprint only roamed on 1x for voice. Accordingly, whether using Sprint or a roaming partner for voice, the PRL always dictated that the alpha tag should read "Sprint" or "Extended" (or "Roaming" a very long time ago when on an international CDMA network). With the recent switch to WCDMA/HSPA voice roaming (which is the default now), the PRL is no longer in play, and the alpha tag reads what the roaming network dictates.
Interesting. Things I learned. Thanks!

So iPhones are now starting to show AT&T instead of "Extended" when roaming on AT&T. Anyone have any info on this?

Speaking of these offers, I wonder if they're going to be targeted or for everyone?

So, I was thinking about switching to T-Mobile before the merger goes through. When I checked my phones compatibility(LG V40) it says that extended LTE and VOLTE will not work. Does that mean some of us will be getting new phones post merger?
They are supposed to be offering "aggressive promotions" for people who will need new devices.

Where Sprint allows ATT roaming is very limited, it just may not be available there.
It shows it on the coverage map.

Yes it should be able to if ATT roaming is available in the area, I've had a tablet roam on ATT before but that was nearly a year ago.
My AT&T line on my phone had service so I wonder what the deal is.

Can the unlimited tablet plan roam on AT&T? Reason I ask is my iPad Pro will happily roam on T-Mobile and US Cellular, but it won't roam on AT&T. It just says no service.

Whoa! Slow down! If you move those goalposts any faster, they'll fall over and you might hurt yourself.

I'd love to hear how I'm moving the goalposts. Please, do tell.

Verizon only has 10x10 band 5 and 10x10 band 13. They do OK. T-Mobile will have 10x10Mhz band 71 (more in some markets, 5x5 Band 12 and 5x5 MHz band 26.
Verizon has much better site density though and they only do ok. New T-Mobile still won't quite have the site density that VZW does and they'll be working about the same amount of low band. They need to buy Dish's 600. Do we know what Dish's 5G NR plan is?

Sprint's 800 will still be in service, Not going to Dish right away.
I thought they were selling it right away? Oh I wonder if that's part of the keeping CDMA up for three years thing?
3 hours ago, bigsnake49 said:Sprint is bringing 800Mhz. Dish can elect to buy Sprint's 800Mhz after 3 years. I don't know why you're freaking out about it.
How are you supposed to compete with VZW and AT&T when you don't have any usable lowband? Isn't that like the whole point of this merger?
Wasn't there supposed to be a spectrum sharing agreement with Dish for the time that they operate as a new T-Mobile MVNO?

They Have 600Mhz, 700Mhz and 800Mhz. Plus two networks of 65,000+45,000 sites plus god knows how many small cells.
600 isn't usable. 700 isn't usable. 800 is only in one tiny spot. Between the two of them they only have a few select market where site density is good enough to the point where lowband congestion won't be a problem.

Sadly Apple has declared that there is no fun allowed and there's no field test mode on the iPad.
