Apparently, ATT is going to layoff 3400 workers also. At least according to the CWA in Akron Ohio.

True. However, the number of 5G customers is going to ramp up substantially once the iPhone 5G is released this fall so they need to be ready for that when it drops.
It looks like there will be a number of 5G midrange phones released this fall also.

LG G7 ThinQ

TMobile updated my LG G7 ThinQ to Android 10 today. Pretty large update, but it downloaded and updated pretty fast.
Looks good so far.

When/what new 5G phones will be coming to Sprint users in the near future?
We are still stuck with only the Samsung Galaxy S20 variants. The OnePlus 8 is available on T-Mobile, but not the Sprint website.
I wonder if the LG Velvet will be available on Sprint. Was looking for the LG G9 but it looks like that is not going to happen.

I do wonder how much longer US Cellular will survive, ESPECIALLY now with the Sprint and t-Mobile officially merging.
If not TMobile then maybe merge with Dish. I certainly don't want US Cellular merging with ATT or Verizon.

I forgot we already had a tablet forum. Moderators can close or delete this forum if they want.

That sounds like it’s gonna be very painful in places where the combined have over 50% market share. T-Mobiles network in the Chicago market can’t comfortably handle the T-Mobile user base as it is now.
Does Dish have much spectrum in Chicago? I think they want to use that extra capacity during the switch.

I wonder if the new TMo Galaxy A 8.4 2020 tablet works on the old Sprint bands. I believe the S6 does.

Is anyone interested in android tablets?

At&t already owning directv, i couldnt' see that being approved. They'd have to spin dish network (tv) off into a standalone or 3rd party.
Didn't Att just buy Time Warner in 2018?

No just no. TMO or Sprint do something but not those two.

Agreed. Merger or not, we do want that spectrum put into service. My fear is that the big two will somehow get more powerful if the merger fails. That is the real anti trust issue.

Why couldn't Att or Verizon buy Dish instead of Tmobile?

What about the email from Masa saying he'd pay off all the debts? Apparently that's not the case or he was going to do some under the table dirty stuff.
Interesting point.

SoftBank can’t just payoff the debt?
I think that they would also have to buy the other 15 percent of the stock if they paid off the debt. That is in the original purchase deal when they first bought. Sprint.

This merger is dead IMO, Son penny pinched just to get what he ultimately wanted. Sons statement on paying back on bonds is the nail in the coffin. 30% chance this merger is approved
Wouldn't the New TMobile be a stronger competitor to the big 2, then the separate companies?

I have been advocating this for at least 5-7 years now if not earlier.
Is that kind of what the clearwire experiment was hoping to emulate?

Pretty much all phones sold in the US do now. They're just firmware locked to each carrier sometimes. Samsung phones and Pixels for example work on all carriers and support all the bands.
Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
Yes, LG and Motorola have several phones that can do all of bands.

Okay I can understand now. Also how's T-Mobile coverage in your area?

TMobile is good here in Beaufort. I couldn't get a signal in my house on Sprint but I am consistently getting good speed on TMobile.

I am encouraged by the fact that Google Fi is able to run on both Sprint and T-Mobile already. Unlike the old Nextel network that we could never integrate properly. Looks like the technology is there to hit the ground running this time. Still a lot of work to actually merge and shut down Sprint, but looks like a transition path could be available.

The settlement with the states is all about contributing to some fund to subsidize poor people to get cell service, maybe for some years, 3-5 years. This is all political, they need to show that they stood up to the big, bd corporations.
I think the big bad corporations are ATT and their 98 subs including CNN, Time Warner, HBO etc. Verizon counts as a big bad corporation also. Sprint, by comparison, not so much. But that is just my take on it.

Does this merger put some or most of Dish's spectrum in service either by Dish or via lease to T-Mobile?
