Just got the August update on the S20 FE 5G.

Finally got the July update on the A32 5G.

I know. Wonder what the holdup is.

Finally got the May security update on the A32. The S20 FE is already on June. Difference between a budget phone and a mid to upper value phone I guess.

I don't do many photos as I used to given the A32 5G has so little unused memory. I killed (uninstalled) what thought I could get away with. I did some tower hunting to get back in practice. Just proved how much I forgot. Often less than one Gig of available memory. No sure it there is a slot for adding memory like my Gallaxy S9. Turned out the S9 just teasing. I put some more memory in the S9 and the S9 did not know what to do with it.
In less than a month, my A32 5G is garbage compared to my old HTC One M8. T-Mobile is having to do a warranty replacement. I know about buyers remorse, but the A32 5G earned it.
Well the A32 is a budget phone. In fact I think my old 2014 Nexus 6 is still a better phone except it cant do several of the new TMobile bands.
Your A32 does take a memory card, up to 1 terabyte I think.
Our A32 has 44GB of unused memory, so we dont need a memory card in it right now.

Just traded (June 14, 2021) in a HTC One M8 (4G top LTE) for the "Free" Samsung A32 5G when I converted from Sprint to T-Mobile. From a reliable operation stand point, I wish that I kept the HTC One By comparison, the Samsung is less stable than the the town drunk.
A32 5G (and S9 to a lesser degree) Chrome autopopulates websites that nobody ever heard of. When opening, it has more than a dozen screens. Page One (Home Page) does not change, but does not update each time you open it. Pages 2-12 are the garbage. I cleaned it out all the ways the local T-Mobile and I can come up with. Within a day or two, the problem children auto populate.
It has a number of apps that I cannot uninstall. Example: Parental Control for example. The list of that kind of crap apps is countless.
My wife had some issues with her A32 5G initially. We disabled some apps and removed permission (background processing, etc) on some others that she was not going to use. It seems to be working pretty good now.
I downloaded the "Open Camera" app from the playstore. She seems to like it a lot better than the stock camera app.
Let me know if you are able to get it to work ok for you.

Thank you for that suggestion.
When I open the three dots in the upper right, I do not see an exit option for when I want to turn the app off. I would appreciate it if that choice was in both versions.
Also do we have a way to provide suggetions / feedback to developer of LTE Discovery app ?
Are you running the lite version on one phone and the pro version on another phone?

Just trying to understand what that does. What benefit? Saw it popular on a different blog.
B71 travels a lot farther than any of the other bands.

NSA-NR doesn't report any data into SCP. You'd need to check the NR Engineering screen to see the NR PCI.
I just forced B71 and it is on a different tower (farther away) than the B2 that I usually use. Could they still use it just to force the "useless" 5G icon on my phone?

Nope. Only way to tell is the NR PCI
SCP shows a PCI 542.
Is that what I am looking for?

If n71 has weaker signal at your house than b2 then you are using intercell CA that tmobile quietly rollout. It takes n71 from towers that have it and aggregates it with towers that are within reach that doesn't have it. All for that 5G icon.
Wouldn't that show up on SCP or something?

Does your phone allow SA NR? The n71 channel is likely smaller than the B2 channel, and if it's used much at all likely produces slower speeds. n41 may not support SA NR just yet in your area, it's still most useful when it has an anchor LTE band.
Yes my S20 FE does support SA. The n71 is probably on a different tower that is farther away. According to SCP, n71 has a weaker signal at my house than B2.
I think the band selector app is pretty interesting. When combined with SCP, tower chasing should be fun.

Samsung band selector from the app store should help with that.
I just tried that on my S20 FE. I forced NR B71 in my house, but the speed was about 1/2 of what I normally get on B2. NR B41 did not find anything. Interesting.

Has anybody been able to download/install the June security update yet?
I have the June update on my S20 FE 5G.

In March TMobile announced a major addition to it's Charleston SC customer support center where it will be adding 540 jobs and spending about 10 million dollars.

I believe there have been other sites added or upgraded around the country also. Hopefully this is the start of a better experience for customers like Jporter12 and BlueAngel.

I am a Sprint customer, and the phone came with a Sprint SIM pre-installed but a brand new T-Mobile SIM kit in the box. Wanting to use it as a native T-Mobile device, I installed the TMO SIM before I powered it up to ensure it didn't get activated as Sprint/TNA (which I believe cannot do standalone).
Ok. Thanks.

How do I shrink the screenshot file down to post it?

My A32 does have standalone 5G support. I have a T-Mobile SIM installed. Not rooted/modified/hacked at all.
Not sure how literally you mean "out of the box", so I will mention that mine did some software updates shortly after I activated it. No idea what features might have been added/fixed. Might have just been catching up on the standard monthly Android rollouts.
Ok. I probably need to activate the new sim card and let it update everything. We used the sim card from my wife's Nexus 6 so far.

If anyone has taken advantage of the new T-Mobile 5G upgrade program to get a Samsung Galaxy A32, you will notice that SignalCheck does not show consistent 5G-NR information (most notably, no RSRP values). It is an issue with the Samsung firmware and I am working with their support to get it resolved in a future Samsung update.
The next SCP update will have some improvements to show more information on the A32 (and possibly other devices if they have similar issues), but a fix from Samsung will be needed for full compatibility.
Mike,
Do you know if the A32 5G has Standalone 5G out of the box?
-
Looks like the A32 5G might not have SA yet.
On the *#2263# screens, my S20 FE seems to show SA as well as NSA. My A32 does not seem to show those indicators. I could be missing something or misreading something.

I'd imagine it's enabled out of the box, there is a dialer code which I forget atm to check.
It's *#2263#, go to NR Band Preferences and it should show and any all 5G bands enabled.
I forgot about that. Will check it out when I get home. Thanks.

Does the A32 5G have standalone 5G out of the box or does it need an update like the S20 FE?

I am still a Sprint account, and did the 5G Trade-In on both of my lines online without any trouble on the 18th.. arrived today. No idea about the Trade-Up portion though.
Did they ask you to send in the old phones?

I am on 4G most of the time also. Our service is great. We get everything we need and want out of our connection.
I remember the issues we had when Sprint converted towers to LTE. Everyone was out chasing tower upgrades. It was a mess for some people but we all got thru it. And I for one, am glad we did.
