Back in the Samsung Epic days, we actually had ROMs that fixed a lot of the manufacturer issues (ie: keystrokes not registering for fast typers), bluetooth issues being remedied by custom ROM, etc. But now there really is little incentive to root/ROM your device, unless you like changing things up every so often. I absolutely dread visiting mobile sites on my S7 though because of the amount of ads that take over my screen. Sure, I have added Crystal to the Samsung browser, but it does not work well with the internal reddit browsers, or any other application outside of the samsung browser. The ad sitting at the bottom that doesn't hinder my browsing is OK, but the ones that take over the entire screen and place a tiny little X at the top right so you unintentionally click the ad is ridiculous. I'm on an unlimited data plan, but for those that do not have unlimited data, studies show that ads can use up to 30% of your data usage when web browsing.

While 3xCA is not necessarily needed, it is there to let people finish their download faster so it is available for others more often.

Maybe they had a dud, or turned on power saver mode? No idea, it just seems unlikely that most of the reviews would not include that type of testing and/or not notice it.

The advantage for Sprint taking so long for their variant to be announced just means there's special enhancements that are delaying it. I wouldn't doubt at all that it'll be 3xCA capable.

Stupid Samsung! Even on T-Mobile/Sprint it is locked down hard. It's kind of funny actually, because the Exynos variant is getting all of the dev love now.
-
I haven't seen anything in the FCC yet either. That does not mean it's not coming, though. But I do think it'll probably be delayed, judging by what I have heard.

I'm the opposite. Occasionally a site will block me from viewing because of Adblock, but I just leave it. But in most cases, I find that the browsing experience is much better because ads won't pop up in your face or take over your screen.

I use root to install Xposed, adblock, debloat, and occasionally customize my ROM. I enjoy tinkering with my device.

After reading this, I'd avoid Motorola. https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/4eul0o/motorola_has_not_been_able_to_fulfill_a_warranty/

The Gizmodo read was actually praising the device. It does say that the Camera isn't quite as good as the S7 (in terms of focusing), but I bet that a software update can fix that. I don't take many pictures so I don't care a whole lot about the camera performance, but I do really want a current-gen device that's hack-able, so the 10 is exactly what I'm looking for.

It looks like in Jacksonville, FL that T-Mobile has 30Mhz of PCS. 1850 - 1865 1930 - 1945 and 1895 - 1910 1975 - 1990 But I know there is PCS spectrum swap in my area so I'd have to double check things once that's updated in the FCC dashboard.

According to Reddit, it looks like some B2 is showing up in Southern Florida. It's 5x5 LTE on B2, but better than nothing! I personally haven't had any congestion issues from what I'm experiencing up here in Northern Florida on T-Mobile, but extra bandwidth wouldn't hurt.

Yes, I used HTC1008.

I feel like it'd be more effective for Marcelo to ask their churned customers these questions, or just listen in on the calls where customers complain/cancel Sprint. Talking to people in select markets (where Sprint in most cases do well) for an unbiased opinion is just a waste of time. Some people would probably be too shy to badmouth Sprint in front of their CEO as well. With recorded calls, you'll hear everything you need to know regarding customer's thoughts and concerns.

Pulled the trigger this morning for the unlocked variant. It was too tempting and watching the hands on videos made me really appreciate the looks of the device, even the front.
-
It has been removed. I read somewhere today that they looked into the statistics and found hardly anyone use the IR blaster on their previous phones.

Just an FYI. Those of you ordering the GSM version, HTC has a $100 off coupon that can be used if pre-ordering the device. Code: htc1008

Looks like it may be developer friendly. Via http://www.htc.com/us/go/buy-htc-10/ I wonder if HTC will throw in any pre-order bonuses like LG/Samsung did?
