  1. Every single rumor I've seen about the 5c and 5s was correct. Not saying it will happen, but it's getting harder for Apple to keep those secrets.
  2. I could see concern that a lawyer could maybe prove you were the one with a phone (instead of that other guy) because of using the feature, but as for a database from it, Apple said today it is stored only in the chip on the phone. We'll get the full story once the techies have them in their hands.
  3. I see plenty of Android people almost giddy that it doesn't support 2500, turning the topic into a frequency discussion instead of one about the actual merits of the new devices.
  4. But that's a reality with any new hardware because of two-year contracts. You're always going to have a large amount of people between upgrades that can't move to the new model. I don't know that I'd call it a burden, as I'm sure carriers are happy to not have to subsidize every single user every single year. And it still gets offloaded one way or another. Since I'm on an iPhone 5 in Houston, I'm only on 1900. New Sprint iPhone 5C/S users in Houston will also get to offload to LTE 800. Houston is a 2600 market, so non-iPhone users can offload to 2600, making for less users on 1900 (good for me) and less users on 800 (good for new iPhone users) and the 2600 users will have no iPhone users on their band (good for non-iPhone users). So it balances out among the three bands even if everyone isn't using tri-band phones.
  5. GM has been released http://9to5mac.com/2013/09/10/apple-releases-ios-7-golden-master-to-developers/
  6. I wonder how well the 5s Touch ID will work with those thick screen protectors on waterproof cases like the LifeProof.
  7. If it's only in 8 markets, perhaps it wasn't worth the effort to add support for 2600 now. The iPhone 4/S isn't even LTE on Sprint, so not having 2600 is the least of those folks problems. I have the iPhone 5, which doesn't supporter LTE 800, so I'll be missing out on that for at least a year. I imagine the folks in Sprint stores will be doing a hard sell to get people to at least spend $100 on their iPhone to get the baseline 5C and get LTE, which also gets them 800.
  8. LTE 800 is being rolled out with NV, correct? Or does that happen later? How widespread is 2600 deployment?
  9. The camera updates are really appealing in the 5s. Larger aperture and sensor should help with low-light situations.
  10. I find it odd to have the 5C. The improvements over the 5 are minor, and all you are getting is a colorful plastic case. It's $100 cheaper yes, but you could also say that for only $100 MORE you get much better features in the 5s. The 5s is a nice upgrade. We'll have to wait to see what apps take advantage of the 64-bit processor. The motion improvements look great, and better battery life is always welcomed. I'll wait until I try out the Touch ID in person to see how useful that really is. Store demos of fingerprint technology could be a challenge though! I will be sticking with my 5 as there's not enough new in the 5s to make me want to upgrade, but my family members still on the 4 and 4S will be very happy.
  11. For future reference: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=1239 It's at 10 am PDT
  12. It's really going to be user preference. When I switched from Android, I was going from one 4" phone to another, so I wasn't affected. That said, I always thought my wife's iPod Touch with it's 3.5" screen was too small. Smaller means more portable, so you have to decide if it's too small to be usable. I used to have a Powerbook that was 15" but switched to a smaller 13" MacBook and never really missed it and loved the increase in portability. I've toyed with downsizing to an iPad mini for the same portability reasons. If Apple ever goes larger with the iPhone, I hope they keep a smaller iPhone version for those of us that prefer it. The good news is that if you switch and truly hate it, the resale value on iPhones is great so you should be able to recoup your investment and go back to Android if needed.
  13. Nobody in this thread said or implied anything about iOS being God. You're the one that said "you Apple sheep are annoying." I came to this thread to see if there was a way to do what the original poster was asking since I have an iPad as well. Not to see S4GRU contributing authors and others engage in Android fanaticism and Apple-bashing. They're just operating systems people.
  14. Your location says Ripon, WI. There's not a lot of LTE out there, so a poor signal will cause your iPhone to go in and out of LTE. Once more towers around you are accepted, it should improve. If you become a sponsor, you can see maps of the area to see which towers have LTE.
  15. I've had that happen a few times when there's not a clean switchoff between 3G and LTE. The iPhone will poll periodically for LTE when not on LTE, so eventually it will connect. Not sure what the exact delay is, but the best way to force it to check is to turn on Airplane mode for a few moments then turn it back off. It should then connect to LTE or 3G as needed. Most likely you're in a borderline area with poor signal.
  16. Get at least a 32GB. You'll be trying out lots of new apps, and some can be pretty hefty in size. That's what I have.
  17. Since I have a 5 already I'm more excited about iOS 7 and whether the mini gets Retina or not. My iPad 2 is getting long in the tooth and am debating whether to keep the same size or go smaller.
  18. There are some sites in that area that haven't had any NV acceptances yet, so it's possible you're connecting with one that's further away, thus lowering speeds. See my signature for a link to a map that shows sites accepted and sites yet to come all on the same map.
  19. What part of Houston? I track the acceptance reports there and have gotten 10-15MB down depending on area.
  20. Thanks everyone. I'll probably just wait then if it's that much more. I'll be getting all the goodies of iOS7 anyway, so I'm happy.
