  1. What wood do you smoke your pork in? I use a charcoal smoker with mesquite lump and a combo of Jack Daniels and Tabasco white oak barrel chips. Best pulled pork ever!

Tabasco, is good but Franks Red Hot or a new sauce I found called Cackalacky, its a sweet potato based hot sauce that gives a better taste after slow cooking.    We need to start a thread about food and cooking LOL!

  2. Yes. When a site is converted to Network Vision standards, they install 4G LTE and new 1x Voice/3G EVDO equipment at the same time. In most instances though, both the 4G LTE and 3G cannot be brought online at the same time.

    Robert,

Does Sprint leave legecy equiment in place and running in some or all cases after the NV equiment is installed, and accepte?   I keep getting a lot of back and forth with this, so sorry for a repeated question.  If NV equiment is live, can, and does it run on backhaul other than fiber, like T1s?  i'm guessing yes to this question after reading different post.   If it does run on other backhaul other than fiber is this the reason in NV complete areas data speeds are still the same speed before NV.

  3. Based on reports, we banned the recent ranter. It was a blatant posting violation and not even accurate. It almost seemed like he was selling another service. His posts have been removed and he has been reported to IP Board as a potential spammer.

Everyone is free to use whatever service they want. We advocate people getting what is best for them. But posting still has to be within our posting guidelines. This guy obviously didn't know there is already one LTE site accepted in SC. Sheesh.

I must have missed this? I would have tried to set him straight. Do you have chick fil a in New mexico? Bojangles makes some mean spicy chicken too. If you are ever in the south east need to try.

Yeah i got those speeds in Walmart haha, and i work at the Oreilly's in Berea. I guess its the metal building but once i walk in the store i drop to 1-2 bars and when i go in the back part i get nothing period. Its not a big deal but a friend of mine who lives by Cherrydale gets no signal period, neither do i when i go visit her. Not sure were the signal drop happens because i dont use my phone while driving at all so i cant say for sure where it just drops but at her house even on the deck we get no signal. We have called sprint and emailed them and they told use that all the towers are working fine and theres no upgrades for the Greenville area at all. Im just hoping it comes soon, even if they fix just 3g to pull 1+mbps down and good signal everywhere i would be happy.

large stores such as Walmart will repeaters inside the store to boost the signal, which will increase your data speeds too. Your friend must work/live in a brick or metal building too because the cherrydale area has quite a few towers around which non but one has been updated to NV equipment. Metal building are a pain when in come to cell service but when Sprint finishes NV which includes LTE and full build sites in this case they will be using a 800mhz signal that works better inside a structure. Your friend needs to call Sprint and request a airwave that will solve a lot of no to low signal problems. How long have you not had signal at her house? Could be related to the NV up grades that are going on. Does she live off state park rd?
  5. So i went to Walmart in Berea yesterday and got over 1mbps download, i was kinda shocked at first then when i went home i got .3mbps down :/ and so far at where i work i have no signal at all, even roaming i get nothing.

the tower that you were on was across from Applebees beside the mini storage buildings. This site still has legacy equipment on it . Were you inside Walmart when you got these speeds?? Where do you work at? 85% or more of Greenville county has coverage. The areas that lack coverage is northern parts of Greenville areas such as table rock, Marietta areas.
  6. I upgraded to Jelly Bean last week, and the contacts delay problem is completely fixed.. everything else works well too. No complaints.

    -Mike

Thanks for the update! I'm guessing I may need to upgrade as well since my visual Voicemail updated, a few month back and seems to not work that well now. Do you have a more compleat LTE build out yet? and if so did it help your LTE connection?

Another question .... When open your bookmarks does your device refresh them as look for the marked page you want to open?

  7. This started the past few months for.me Also, I have a home office and use my cell for the most part. A trouble ticket was filed and nothing got better yet. Haven't been offered a airave device yet, but I'm not sure it I can even use it due to having Verizon 4g LTE home fusion internet service, does anyone know if it wound work?

  8. In greenville sprint has updated there little thing that shows what towers are goin to be upgraded and how(not when :( ) but theres 50 upgrades! 36 of which are data speed upgrades.... maybe 4g?

Yes and no, NV equiment may be in place on some of these, but backhaul is a issue on a lot of these sites. Some updates fromthe Sprint is showing older Legacy equiment that is still being updated even that it maybe getting replaced very soon. The only site I found that is running high ( 1.5 to 1.8) MBPS is a site on hwy 25 in Berea behind Hamricks. One site in Travelers Rest that has NV equiment installed is still running at .02 to .25mbps range. Look into becoming a sponsor all you have to do is have a pay pal and gift a $1 or more and you can see a lot of maps that way more info than you are getting from Sprints website. This will give you 6 months of viewing and updates. It shows all of sprints sites. If you want to follow LTE time lines this is about the only way you will get info.

I've been told by a sprint rep that they are working on data/voice in our area (greenville) but the voice was done at the beginning of the month, and data would be done on the 17th(today) I'm hoping it gets better, 3g is just plain slow, 4g lte would be nice but SC is scheduled by the end of the year to be done.

I was told the same but it almost the 18th and I'm still having the same problems up in he outer areas of travelers rest . Not sure how often you come to Tr , but the tower thats in the middle of town has had NV equipment for a month or more now without backhaul hooked up I'm guessing. When I'm downtown Tr speeds increased a little but it seems the signal distance decreased. Greenville will have LTE I bet by the end of spring in a few areas that already has the backhaul (fiber) to the sites, but backhaul instaqlling is going to take a while. I haven't seen any signs of fiber being ran around Greenville county I have even talked to a few locate guys on Job sites and they all said the same thing , they haven't done any marking to or around cell tower

  11. Anyone else in Greenville sc having data / voice issues? In northern Greenville data has been slower and timing out a lot more than normal. I also have had outgoing call issues, which sends me to a Boost Mobile error message. When I dialed *2 it sent me to Boost Mobiles customer service. This has been going on with both of my Sprint devices. I do live in a "fair service area" which data is a bit slower but has worked for the most part in the past and voice drops a call ever now and then, but now its very hit and miss. I hope this clears up soon or I may have to get a pre- paid with another service provider to have a working phone. :(

  12. Are you syncing your contacts through Facebook at all? A glitch popped up a few months ago (I'm suffering from it myself) and most indications are that its related to Facebook contacts sync. Supposedly the issue is fixed in Jelly Bean.

    -Mike

Thanks to all the responses, I will try them and update you on what happens. Mike I haven't updated to jelly bean yet. Are all or most of the bug worked out? Does jelly bean help any toward the LTE issue? I don't have LTE yet but do pick up a signal a few miles away and have to do the airplane in and out mode to get pick up LTE. If the jelly bean update corrected this problem I will be updating as soon as Sprint turns LTE on in greenville.

And there is your answer. LTE (and other 3GPP) networks use MCC-MNC, but CDMA2000 (3GPP2) networks do not.

The primary Mobile Country Code for the US is 310, and Sprint's LTE Mobile Network Code is 120.

So, 123456 is null data for both MCC-MNC, while 310000 is correct for the US but null data for the Mobile Network Code.

    AJ

I don't know much about this stuff, and didn't know if a screen shot would help. I do know I was roaming with Verizon due to forgetting to add a area code before a call

  14. Just wanted to add that I just got off the phone with two Sprint reps, which both confirmed that the green light date for 4G LTE in the Anderson/Pendleton area will be Apr 2... That you may see LTE as soon as next week, but the actual launch is set for the 2nd of next month...

let me know if this happens. A lot of those areas still show "in progress" for New vision 3g Acceptance. Become a spouncer and you can see what's going on.
  15. I have had the same problem. I blow the slot out with computer air cleaner this works for me. Ever month or so I have to do this since I work in a dusty environment at times. Also a good otter box case helps keep dust and dirt out.

  16. I was told by a Sprint rep that the tower in my area near GHS was updated for LTE services. She said that there was not LTE in the area yet, but what she understood about the process there were updates required to the towers before LTE was available. Especially if they were in a area that didn't have 4G.

    Believe it or not....

Sadly sprint reps. are very misinforming and are left in the dark by sprint about 4g service updates. I do think at times some reps say what you want hear. This location does not show anything on the maps to show progess toward new vision or LTE. I will tell you that S4GRU is the best place for infomation about lte timelines, and progress. I do think a higher up in sprint sould take notice of all the work that goes into this site to provide info that I personly think sprint should be providing for there customers. One time I went to the store on Woodruff rd, and a store rep told me that Greenville will not be getting LTE for a few years, but then went on to say that wimax 4g was being expanded into Greenville before LTE, I expressed my doubt with him! This was about 5 months ago.

I don't see anything that appears to be AlcaLu equipment in any of these pictures. Currently, all the work in Upstate is at GMO sites. GMO sites do not have any panel work.

However, the one base equipment pic you took was not of Sprint equipment. If you get a chance to take more pics of base equipment, I can check those for you. Thanks.

everything else other than AT&T's equipment is inside a building.
  18. There is basically too much in variables in a GMO to say anything about how they're upgrading these sites. They're GMOs for a reason after all. It could be A) Insufficient backhaul without significant costs, B) the actual cell site cannot support the mounting of the new antennas without significant work being done, or 3) local owners presenting problems.

GMOs are going to be the last ones to be worked on after they're done doing the basic things so at the earliest Sprint could upgrade these to full builds are going to be in 2014 most likely. Standard NV deployment time frame applies but with the added effect of engineering the sites for the upgrades or relocating it to another locale.

I'm not a premiere spouncer yet to see if my "home tower" is going to be a gmo site but, all the sites in upstate SC are gmo sites thus far. I'm in what Sprint calls a fair coverage area which makes my data and voice coverage very spotty inside my house. I'm betting its backhaul issue in the completed sites in the upstate.

Basically if you look at the images of the numerous network vision panels posted around here, it's quite simple. The basic NV panel is 2 1900mhz on opposite sides while the 800mhz is squashed in the middle between the two. The 800mhz is not hooked up yet but everything is already there. All you need to do is go back to the towers and phsyically hook it up and do a few "magical" things and it's up and running. Should be much quicker than completely replacing all the old panels, dig up the T1 lines and get the fiber lines all set up, and replacing the old / outdated / inefficient hardware on sites. It's like 6 old boxes to 1 compact boxes.

In short, much easier/faster than the initial deployment.

What about GMO sites? How long will it take Sprint to have the selective Gmo site panels changed? is this all they have to do is to change panels out? and how quick will it be before they start this after NV competition?
