  1. This says just about everything.
  2. I got a message through the sprint zone app saying something like a new network is coming soon.
  3. If you go to the members forum and look under the minnesota NV section, I posted a ton of pics of up close samsung equipment when they were doing the tower by my house. They built it on the ground before putting it on the tower. If you's like to, feel free to use any of those images. It's even 800mhz ready so it looks a little different.
  4. The only thing I really wish sprint would do is allow the use of SIM cards. Keep cdma 1x/3g. I'm fine with that. I don't talk on my phone much anyways. More text and internet. I just hate having to call sprint to swap phones! Doing it online has never worked for me. That's the only thing I actually miss about tmobile. Phone troubles, swap phones easily. SIM burns out. Go get a new SIM. SIM burns out on a sprint phone, get a new phone. That's one annoyance I think sprint would be wise to change. I know the argument about phones being stolen and sold, but if the phones still had some sort of esn type registration along with the SIM, that arument would be moot. Even if I couldn't import a phone or use a tmobile phone, I'd still be happy. The technology currently being used doesn't really matter to me and the majority of people, as long as it works, that's all that matters. And like everyone has been saying, anything but lte is a dying tech that will eventually not be used anymore. So no sense in sprint spending the money on legacy tech(outside of doing NV that is). I'd rather see them pump that money into lte and spectrum and a wider variety of phones.
  5. As long as you dont have an HTC phone its easy! The GS3 is easy. And Id recommend cyanogenmod. If you like stock android with improvements. And TWRP as your recovery.
  6. I dont like getting insurance on my phones. Ends up costing more in the end than just buying a used one. Ive never had any problems with my phones in the past(been using htc since the g1). But, after this phone, I think I'll be switching away from htc. The One doesnt appeal to me and sense 5 looks horrid. And the poor reception with this phone is a downer. Overall, The evo is a decent enough phone. Its worrking great since I loosened the screws. I'm just going to swap out the power button/proximity sensor to see if that has anything to do with the problems. Mostly made this post in case anyone else is having this problem and it might help them.
  7. I'm running meanbean currently and have all crash reports and HTC reports turned off. Also had tried wiping the phone and doing a fresh install With different roms. That didn't fix it. Loosening the screws was the only thing that fixed it. I do have a new power button/ proximity sensor cable coming and plan on replacing it to see if that's the real problem with the screws being tightened.
  8. I tried all of that. When it would shut off, nothing would power it back on. I'd have to use a charger or wait until it would recognize the charger.
  9. So for the past couple of weeks my evolte (I like evolte over ltevo or evo lte cause it sounds like e-volt ha ha anyways...) has been randomly powering off and the only way I could get it to turn back on was to plug it into a genuine htc or samsung charger. Then it would take a few seconds to recognize it and the orange charge light would flicker real quick before fully coming on and I'd have to wait like 30 seconds before it would turn on. And then when powered back on it would repeat randomly. The last couple of days its gotten really bad to where I'd have to let it sit for an hour before it would even recognize the charger. It was a real pain! I thought maybe it was my power button cause it seemed to happen most often when I'd turn the screen off, but not always. So i decided to take it apart(warranty already void cause Im rooted and s-off with custom rom) plus no insurance on it. Taking the back cover off and then the screws for the inside cover plate out then the inside cover off and the phone would work. It wouldnt turn off for anything. But once put back together it would turn off. I figured out putting some pressure around the headphone jack would shut the phone right off and I'd be right back to square one with plugging it back in and hoping it would see the charger. So, I took it apart again and tried putting pressure around the headphone jack. It stayed on! Wouldnt turn off no matter what I tried. Put it back together again. Put some pressure around the headphone jack and it turned off right away. Very frustrated and irritated at this point. Took it apart again and it stayed on like before. So this time I put it back together only I didnt tighten the screws all the way tight. Maybe a turn or 2 loose. And it wont turn off anymore. Its only been like an hour since I did this, but maybe itll work and maybe help out someone else.
  10. Lte just went live in forest lake. 8 down and 6 up. They are probably just testing it now though.
  11. Saw a crew working on the sprint tower in forest lake. Nice that they are working their way up 35.
  12. I used to love going there. Haven't been there since they moved though. Sprint really seems to be concentrating on north western region of the twin cities.
  13. Where it says "map detail options" along the top of the map. You may have to be zoomed in to a certain point before they show up though. I think blue is new and green is future.
  14. Check coverage.sprint.com it shows new and future towers if you click to show them.
  15. I added a little more purple on sensorly in Linwood since another tower is broadcasting. Gonna map more extensively when I have time. Also got a signal a 4g Casey's gas station in wyoming. Could have been from the tower in Linwood though.
  16. Thanks for the info! A lot of it is kind of over my head right now(asking questions to learn it though). Can I suggest maybe writing an article for the front page of what was explained here? Like using ascertions' original question as an example? Like providing all the info here, but some more "dumbed"(dont know what other word to use) down examples?
  17. Sorry, I've been sick and am kind of out of it. Cdma uses 1.25mhz carriers while w-cdma uses 6mhz carriers, right? So w-cdma stands a better chance at penetrating a wall giving a better signal since more would get through, right?
  18. Its just carry over from the towers in hugo that when the conditions are just right will reach up to forest lake. I've got lte out in Linwood and love it. Hopefully it'll warm up soon and sprint can go all out! I know its going to take time and lots of people are getting impatient, but things don't ever just happen overnight.
  19. Now if only they would shoot up just a little north of Hugo to forest lake...
  20. A buddy of mine is doing T-Mobile lte upgrades here in the metro area of MinnesotaI
  21. These last few days have been so bad! Wonder how much productivity will drop around the northern states during the winter? Spring can't come soon enough!
