  1. According to some tweets from HTC USA, this phone goes on sale tonight at midnight on their website only and includes carrier variants not just the unlocked version. I've tweeted HTC, Sprint and Jason from HTC asking for confirmation on CCA compliance. We'll see if they respond.

  2. I saw a very similar graph for the HTC m9 from a Middle Eastern user on an overnight stand by. It would seem that the 810 with its for low power cores might just be unbelievable sipper of battery on standby. That is excellent if true.

  3. The consistently poor camera experience from just about every tech site review is really concerning. I guess the m10 will be the ideal android phone (for someone with normal sized hands).

There are a couple Intl contributors to XDA that are showing photos taken post OTA's and they are drastically different results. Too early for a verdict imo.
  4. True, but a US version likely won't have any change to the disappointing display and camera.

Disappointing display? Not sure what you're referring to.

Clearly there is a large firmware update that hit international units today. The camera software / post processing absolutely could be improved in that update as other international users have already discussed.

  5. I think we still have to remember that all of these reviews, I believe, are on unlocked international versions that are not the shipping US hardware.

Not 15 minutes ago, there was a tweet from an overseas user that the unlocked international version just got a 350 mg over-the-air firmware update. Personally I am not putting a lot of confidence in these reviews until I know it is on a shipping US version.

  6. Is there any service/app out there that, from the same app, let's me do IP based messaging to those that have the same client while doing SMS to those that don't? While Hangouts does support both I agree with the comments above: I want to be able to decide between using IP and SMS myself and even mix the two in the same conversation if needed based on my network situation.

  7. I was intrigued with the S6 Edge but the very early stuff I'm reading online from people on the ground is that TouchWiz is basically still TouchWiz - nothing "nearly just Lollipop" about it.

  8. The gang that gives us the NSA and CIA is more trustworthy than a cable company? You may be reading too many tech blogs :) And the former head of the NSA calls himself a libertarian so labels don't mean much anymore.

ON THIS ISSUE. I said that for a reason.

Yes, I think it is much more likely for my cable company to favor and/or degrade my access to services based on their own corporate power/interests than I believe that the "evil govt" is going to regulate the Internet in negative fashion.

  9. Yeah same here. I thought for sure the M9 was going to get me back to Android but since it appears to be pretty much the M8 with better internals I will probably pass.

I'm curious because I see comments like this every once in awhile. Does that suggest that there is something wrong with the M8 or just the fact that it's not a big enough change? I could see that for people that are M8 owners but if not, what is the complaint about it not being different enough? Please don't read this as a challenge I'm just curious about the thought process on a comment like this.
  10. Using Google's messenger app. Calls are fine. Data is fine. Phone has been rebooted and also toggle airplane mode. PRL and profile is current. Very intermittent problem. Sprint responded to a tweet tonight saying its a known LTE issue without a fix yet and to change to 3G to get the SMS out if it happens. Not sure I believe that because I'm pretty sure my phone had kicked back to 3G indoors in Chicago this weekend and I still couldn't get a SMS out.

  11. I've been doing a lot of traveling lately and I'm having bad SMS experiences. This is occurring on a LG G2 with Android 4.4.2 and a Nexus 5 with 5.0.1.

It has occurred in Chicago, Tucson, Des Moines and Champaign.

Sending SMS gets stuck on "Sending" and might eventually send or might fail. Incoming texts I'm getting 3 or 4 times each with different time stamps.

    Known issue?

  12. I had planned order this on pre-order but reading some of the reviews the last couple days they all seem to talk about sluggish performance. I'm a little reluctant now and might just wait for the M9 so that I can compare both reviews.

  13. Regardless Sprint is still playing catch up and will be for the next half a year or so.

They are usable in most markets now but competitive in data speeds they are not.

That requires implementations of additional Band 41 carriers, increase site density via organic expansion of macro and micro (small cell) sites, and the addition of LTE-Advance technologies such as HetNet, Son, and a whole bunch of network optimization tools that are not yet active today but will go live in phases pending completion of FITs.

Whether they are "competitive" in data speeds depends on whether there is a NEED for limitless data speeds. It only matters that they don't pull 20 Mbps if you have an application for 20 Mbps. Otherwise it isn't much more than 4th graders comparing the size of their johnsons in the gym class shower.

    LG G3

Any one else notice a bad battery drain from the facebook messenger app???

Also being reported in various places with the Samsung S5 update.
