I think they're referring more to the densification strategy with small cells? This far into a project with the equipment already being designed and made, what could be left of a secret?

Honest question: what day to day usage of a phone needs more than 10 megabits per second? I'm not at all trying to be antagonistic here I just don't understand how people use their phones to need more speed than that today.I doubt the speeds will increase in bigger cities. Maybe smaller towns might see some improvements, but here in NYC, its brutal. Sprint without the second carrier have slowed down to sub 5mbs average, Att has been horrible here. Tmobile used to be a heck of alot faster, now its closer to 5-10mbs. Only Verizon has held up well, but even their speeds have taken a big hit.
It's crazy to think 10mbs during business hours in Midtown is actually as good as it gets.

A stock price declining doesn't mean an increased risk of imminent demise. Doesn't work that way.Sprint stock at $2 and 50 and steady declining.... Softbank stock took a 18% hit any opinions what will sprint have to do to stay above water

Disagree. I don't believe Joe Public cares about speed tests, knows what the numbers mean or knows how to run one. They care how fast their Facebook timeline or Instagram feed loads.I love how it didn't show LTE speed tests but download demonstrations but a speed test would have been nice. They could show the speed test difference first because people like big numbers. Just don't make the mistake of broadcasting the ad in the many cities that don't have band 41 or CA because the backfire will not be pretty.

After reading as much as I can find on this, I am really starting to feel like the original Recode article just didn't get it right. I really question whether the deployments that are primarily targeted for government facilities is actually the relocation of macro sites or whether it is the Mobilitie small cell deployments. Perhaps the existing two tower companies are now understanding the reality that they're not going to be in on this small cell deployment business and perhaps they took Recode along for a little ride of half truths when it came to this story?

Why is that a negative article? I don't see that as a negative. In fact, to me it explains the recent restructuring where Sprint went to a bunch of regional managers. If they are going to transition from private market tower leases to government properties then those Regional Managers essentially become lobbyists whose goal is to cozy up with local governments in order to secure great financial terms and easy approval processes for their equipment deployments.http://recode.net/2016/01/15/sprint-finalizes-plan-to-trim-network-costs-by-up-to-1-billion/
Hoping this flies under the radar, otherwise we are headed for troll territory

Do you have technical experience in mobile phone network deployment?I don't see why Sprint cant upgrade 50 sites to band 41 per day. On a national level that is possible and that would be over 18,000 sites. They definitely do less than 50 upgrades per day.

Yes, that is happening with many LG phones after the most recent Google Maps update. Within the Google Product Forums for Google Maps this is an acknowledged problem but no fix yet. Google is aware of it though.

I'm suspect of that new map because I just looked up Nassau Bahamas and it shows only purple coverage there which implies high cost paid roaming. However, the Bahamas is a partner country in Sprint's roaming programs. If you go to sprint.com/international Sprint has recently added international coverage maps. You can see areas of no coverage, areas where you'll be covered by Open World & Global Roaming coverage (light green and dark green) and areas where you'll be charged ($$$$) for casual roaming (light and dark purple). This is a very welcome addition!

I believe there is free public Wi-Fi in the Dubai Airport. I have not been there since 2012 but I remember making a Facebook post to notify my family that I arrived.Yeah I have a long layover in Dubai in a few months. Would be nice to be able to use my phone while there.
I'm guessing that the roaming partners are Softbank's preferred partners? For example, I looked up South Africa, and it looks like Softbank will roam on all their carriers but they charge different rates. Vodacom is the cheapest rate, and seems to be the only one that has what I'm guessing are data packages for purchase ("packet flat rate"). http://mb.softbank.jp/en/global_services/global_roaming/area_id.html?country=6&id=20131004000000440 So I assume this is who Sprint would roam on there?

The entire Middle East is missing as well. Dubai, UAE etc are still an advantage in T-mobile's program.Very impressive update. At this point, the only glaring omissions in Sprint's international lineup are China and India. I'm sure those will come sooner rather than later.

Sprint just announced a major expansion of their international roaming programs, adding 36 cities. The list is really all over the place and quite impressive. The only significant hole that I can tell is the GCC at this point.

You are correct. My apologies. I completely misread your post and I attempted to delete my response. I edited it instead but my apologies to you. It's absolutely accurate. You restated what I already said.

If you sign up for open world but you are in an additional country versus the included country, do you lose the ability to have 2g data? In other words in an additional country all data is high speed with an overage charge?
I wish they would just have one plan that gives us some amount of high speed data in countries and then backs down to 2g unlimited after that.

I believe Sprint stopped citing specific POP figures. The last few articles that I've read that stated them seems to be speculation.304 million pops. Is Sprint still only claiming 270 million pops?

I updated by using the TOT file instructions on XDA. The standby battery life is insane. Last night the battery life on WiFi, while the phone was not being used, stayed at 100% for 2 hours until I used it again. It's too soon to judge the battery life during use.I know Android 6.0 Marshmallow is suppose to help improve battery lasting longer if I remember correctly. Any difference?
I also did a reset from recovery after updating.

What's the issue with the note about this adding Global Roaming? The phone didn't support that before?

Is it 6.0.1 by chance or just 6.0? Like the bug fixes in 6.0.1

I am having a terrible time on four Sprint lines with recipients of our SMS and MMS messages receiving multiple copies of the same message.
This problem is not isolated to just group and the mess. It is occurring on single recipient SMS. I've switched apps from Messaging Plus to Hangouts to the phone's built in message app. Nothing seems to make a difference.
My phone is g4, my wife has an S6 and my son has an iPhone and it is occurring on all of our phones.
This morning when I landed at the Atlanta Airport I sent my daughter an SMS. She got it four times. I sent my son an SMS from Atlanta and he got it twice. Last night my wife was part of a group message and she received the same message over 20 times and then suddenly this morning she received the same message from last night probably another 30 times.
I called Sprint technical support and their answer was that we needed to take all four phones into a repair store for a diagnostic. Please.
Anyone experienced similar problems of this magnitude and have any idea what to do?

Funny thing is that they responded in detail to the credit card dispute but never did answer the support ticket. A joke of a company.

That's debatable. As I posted in another thread over the holidays I traveled in eastern and Northern Iowa and when I was connected to US Cellular my phone had no roaming indication of any kind. It looked native by all indications on the phone except when I looked at Signal Check Pro.US cellular 3G roaming has been available to Sprint customers for a few months now. It's just regular roaming.

That's exactly what mine looked like too. I traveled from near Ames to Cedar Rapids on US-30 then across northern Iowa from Waterloo to Minnesota just southeast of Albert Lea. When I was connected to US Cellular SignalCheck looks just like your screenshot.I've had this happen when I was in the middle of South Dakota. Screenshot_2015-11-02-20-32-34.png

I traveled across central Iowa yesterday north of I-80. I was on US Cellular according to SignalCheck and there was no roaming symbol. It was 3G.

I was not responding to your comment. I was responding to Cletus. Specifically, I was responding to the use of his word sufficient.i said it looks ok, but not a level of quality that would make me give up home internet and use hotspot + binge on for home use. your right people used to listen to tv shows on the radio, then watch them in black and white, they also used to use a hand crank to start their cars.... could u use a flip phone? yes but you choose to use a galaxy s6 active (according to your profile) you could certainly use something old, but you prefer a newer nice phone, i prefer something higher than 480P. Neither opinion is wrong but i would prefer you not mock my opinions just because they differ from yours. Thanks, Nick
