América Móvil does good prepaid business as TracFone Wireless in the United States. Maybe they should buy Sprint.

It looks like a small number of co-located WiMAX sites may be affected from Sprint's iDEN shutdown.

im happy to report, i am still using it at work, i put some 3M double sided tape on it, taped it to top of cube... and i pull a consistant 7-8mb down, 1-1.5mb up, which is more than enough for my needs.
How much data are you using per month?

Pre wimax (expediance) equiptment is being fixed period. IF somthing major happens like a watertank refurb or tower mover etc. it's flat out being decomissioned. The repair SLA's are low(long) but still functioning
How do you know?

I am now home. Slept in my own bed last night. Have lots to do this weekend, but I'm going to try to get back in the swing of things today. It was nice to have a full vacation.

Imagine if Sprint had to turn off cellular service on a tower over a bird's nest. That won't be awesome.

It looks like Clearwire is improving its leadership position by taking on a Former U.S. Senator to its Board of Directors.

It makes you want to find some money in the sofa and buy some of that cheap Clearwire stock.
What if Clearwire decided to go as a private company?

Bankruptcy attorneys?
Is that the job for Philip Falcone's Harbinger Capital Partners?
Harbinger seeks investments that typically fall into the following four categories:
- Event – investments in companies where the Harbinger team identifies a significant opportunity to actively engage with a company to unlock value;
- Distressed/Bankruptcy – investments in companies that are already in default, in bankruptcy, or in some other stage of financial failure or distress;
- Value – passive investments in securities where Harbinger believes a positive catalyst for value realization is already present; and
- Corporate Shorts – passive investments where Harbinger views the security to be overvalued or believes weakening fundamental trends or identifiable negative catalysts are apparent.
Philip Falcone leads Harbinger's investment team, relying on his extensive experience in distressed debt, leveraged finance, and special situations across an array of market cycles.

They are bankrupt and would need to find investors to be able to do anything like this. If someone wanted to invest in clearwire why would they go through Lightsquared first to get to clearwire? They could just invest in clearwire.
I heard that LightSquared recently received approval on a $51.4 million bankruptcy loan. I wonder what that money is going to be spent on.

They don't have the cash to buy clearwire.
How about as a wholesaler or investor?

DirecTV had LTE Plans with Verizon that was later ditched after Verizon struck deals with the cable operators. I can see DirecTV working with Clearwire on LTE in the future to stay competitive with DISH LTE Plans.

Can Clearwire be a possible profit for LightSquared? Would it be a good idea if LightSquared bought off Clearwire?

MetroPCS will also host their conference call on July 26, and Leap Wireless (Cricket) will host their conference call on August 6.

Is anyone following this presentation tomorrow?

Sprint is not likely ever to offer a full Home ISP solution. It would require too much valuable spectrum. And if they did, they would have to do like Verizon with their home service and have Draconian usage limits. I think the days of wireless home ISP solutions are over for large scale urban deployments. There is, however, enough spectrum to pull this off in a lot of rural areas though.

How about Clearwire situation once they start deploying LTE?

I believe Sprint and Clearwire are committed to running the Wimax network for a while.
You are right. It takes time to deploy LTE, and Clearwire needs to keep WiMAX up and running to pay for operation cost. Another fact is WiMAX is still more efficient than iDEN and EVDO.

While I may not need 15Mbps down on my phone, a network that's designed for 15-20Mbps is more likely to still give me 2-3 Mbps or more when I'm on the fringes of a cell, and/or as the network becomes overburdened. Kind of like how Sprint's 3G network is designed for 600K-1.4M, but really only delivers 20-100K to many users today. I'm not suggesting the NV network will get as bad as the legacy 3G network as far as theoretical max vs actual speeds, but I'd still like to see a network that is capable of significantly more speed than I could practically need, because I don't expect to get anywhere near the max speed depending on location and as users in the cell increase.
I am waiting for Clearwire to make an official announcement when they will start launching LTE. Check out their story.
