Did they also just raised their upgrade fee recently?

I would like to see T-Mobile limit the amount of spectrum they purchase to only markets they desperately need more in the next AWS auction and go all out on the 600 auction.
I think AT&T will invest heavily in AWS spectrum during the next auction and should definitely be allowed to.
I agree before too much spectrum goes unused. I remember reading that Leap Wireless is only utilizing about 40% MHz POPs of spectrum while about 60% MHz POPs of the rest of the spectrum is not being utilized as of the end of 2012.

Thanks for the info Howard!
Any other info you can share?
Most recently, clearwire said that they would deploy 20MHz TD-LTE channels and saw performance int he 60Mbit range. Can you offer any insight into this? What sort of backhaul upgrades are needed? Will clearwire be offering a pay-as-you-go plan to replace wimax? When does clearwire expect to hit commercial operation?
I was searching through some resources from a while back, and I found this piece of information mentioned that I think you might find interesting.
Clearwire recorded download speeds of 50 Mbps in the 10x10 configuration, and 90 Mbps downloads in the 20x20 configuration.

If you are not aware, Clearwire recently started offering usage-based prepaid mobile data plans. That is the only other information I have to share.

S4GRU will be down from 11 PM to 3 AM EST tonight as IP Board works on our servers. That's 8 PM to Midnight for you Pacific time folks.
So, please don't email me or text me unless it's still down after 3 AM. Thanks!

You should create a banner on the website header where everyone will see the notice, and you should also post the notice on your Social Media Pages.

From my understanding, it looks like Clearwire will be announcing its TD-LTE Commercial Deployment Plan at the GTI Summit during Mobile World Congress on February 26, 2013.

I was reading through a few of Clearwire LTE News, and I found some interesting information to point out.

What happens to WiMAX?
But amid the Clearwire move to LTE, what happens to the existing WiMAX network? Saw says it will remain intact. The company will use 20 MHz of spectrum for LTE and reserve 10 MHz for WiMAX and operate both networks side-by-side. In most cases the equipment is designed to do just that.

Yeah, I have no idea why they went from 100MBps down to 60Mbps. It will all clear itself up eventually.
I also heard 120 Mbps and 160 Mbps.

How about Sprint buying out Virgin America? They already have Virgin Mobile USA.

Does anyone know if something big is planning to happen at the Texas Technology Summit? It looks like Sprint will be participating at the Texas Technology Summit on April 17, 2013 at the Reliant Center in Houston, Texas.

They really need to bet the farm on 600 spectrum when it comes up for auction
(not tons of it bandwidth, 10mhz should be fine, but coverage wise a contiguous block that spans the country so they can compete on a coverage basis)

600 is an option, and maybe their best option. It definitely has large hurtles, however. It will take years to make this spectrum usable, (reverse auction success dependent, 3gpp license, build out, phones) all that jazz. I think we're looking at 2017 or later before that spectrum is usable. Is that soon enough for T-Mobile or will something else allow them to get low spectrum in the mean time?
I was reading the T-Mobile Blog and saw some interesting stuff posted about T-Mobile's interest in the 600 MHz spectrum band.
Source: http://blog.t-mobile...013/01/31/3534/
We are working with the FCC and other stakeholders to ensure that the 600 MHz band plan, the “forward” auction, and the “reverse” auction all work in concert to reallocate and reassign spectrum from broadcast television to mobile broadband uses. T-Mobile’s proposals call for some tweaks to the FCC’s already well-conceived plan.

It was announced that AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile forged a pact with the Department of Defense to explore the possibility of sharing 95 MHz of spectrum located in the 1755 - 1850 MHz band. It looks like Sprint didn't got involve with the pact. I wonder how this will impact wireless competition.

Wonder how t-mobile will take this, after all they've been advertising about bringing unlocked iPhones over
T-Mobile released this statement:
Increasingly consumers are looking for choice and flexibility in the way they purchase wireless. They want the freedom to bring their own device without having to compromise on value, which is why we will continue to make it easy for consumers to bring unlocked, GSM-compatible devices to T-Mobile.
T-Mobile recommends customers contact the device manufacturer or AT&T directly to request the unlock code for their device. Customers would then purchase a SIM card, select a T-Mobile SIM card only Value plan that suits their needs and T-Mobile will help the customer configure their device for its network. T-Mobile offers step-by-step instructions at retail and on the T-Mobile customer support forums online.
