    Great article! Just one question; Since Sprint usage is prioritized over MVNO usage (at least that's what most MVNOs state in their fine print), are MVNO users assigned a different QCI that gives them lower QoS priority? It would be interesting to see if plans such as Sprint's Kickstart, T-Mobile Essentials, and Verizon's goUnlimited also have a different QCI.

    LTE wasn't launched on mmW spectrum. Apples to Oranges comparison. 5G is a whole different monster.

    It actually isn't concerning or unexpected since the stoppage was expected by all parties. New fillings were submitted by T-Mobile/Sprint. It is all part of the process. This merger is still likely going to happen. Some people in power will question it in order to toot their horn (it's politics 101), but will ultimately not stand in the way.

    Am I the only one that feels like these maps are a huge letdown? Sprint holds the spectrum advantage with their EBS/BRS spectrum. They have the ability blanket most markets with wideband 5G. Yet they aren't. Why? Why not go scorched Earth on their competitors and widely deploy 5G? That DFW map is a joke.

    Try turning off CDMA BC1, BC10, LTE B25, B26, B41. Don't force anything. Just let the phone do it's own thing after turning off all those bands.

    If you have a rooted Android, you can turn off the Sprint bands and see the extent of T-Mobile Roaming.

    Sprint PLMN, so it definitely is T-Mobile. Only question is why is it coming up as "Roaming"? I thought all T-Mobile roaming this far was showing up as native on phones?

    Yeah, those speeds are good enough for just about anything, including HD Video. I guess I'm one of those people who stopped caring about top speeds and just wants reliability and usability.

    Nice to see there is proper backhaul and not satellite backhaul like in some Wyoming sites. Unfortunately, -118 is pushing the limits of LTE. What area of New Mexico is this?

    My needs? Is battery performance not important to people? I guess manufacturers must have missed the memo because they are cramming as much battery as possible to their devices (some even removing the headphone jack for battery space). I guess Sprint should also stop bothering with UL CA, HPUE, and high order QAM...because utiz said the majority of people don't care for UL. 0.01 Mbps for everyone! ?‍♂️ You've been told once already to ease up with presenting your opinions as fact. Stop arguing for the sake of arguing.

    It's discouraging, but it would makes sense. They've gone a few years without spending any meaningful money. So what's another year? Makes absolutely no sense to waste money on your network if you're confident the merger will go through.

    It's not. Which is why I don't have Sprint anymore. Unfortunately, your "I'm always right" attitude blinds you from seeing the benefits of having good upload speeds.

    Slow uploads consume a heck of a lot more battery than fast uploads over LTE. Uploading a 5 minute, 4k video on a fair B41 signal could take HOURS. Uploading that same video on Verizon, At&t, or T-Mobile usually takes a few minutes. That's a bigger difference on battery performance. For the sake of this argument....yes. Yes there are.

    You'd be surprised at the number of govt officials selling themselves to O&G companies all over South and West Texas. The fact is, many foreign companies (including Wal-Mart) have been accused or found guilty of doing business the way Mexicans DO business. If you want stuff to get done, you have to buy the right "services". If you don't, then delays happen.

    This is something I stumbled upon on Sprint over a year ago as well. I noticed that in areas with B41, I could get 30-40 Mbps on the Speedtest app. But on Netflix's own speed test site, it would max out at 12-13 Mbps. These speeds made sense for network management purposes (ED1500 allowed for such thing under T&C). The minimum speed requirements for 4K streaming on Netflix are 15 Mbps. Not allowing 4K goes a long way in keeping congestion down.

    On the contrary. Sprint needs to add towers. B41's reach is Sprint's achilles' heel in the 4G race. El Paso is devoid of trees and foliage so tower spacing may not be an issue for you. But in areas that are not deserts (like the rest of Texas), B41 his hurt by trees, large buildings, and rolling hills. B26 is so congested in my area that I used to find myself better off on 1x at certain times/locations. More macro additions are needed. It wouldn't hurt if Sprint started splitting sectors as well to double it's capacity on B25 in areas where they lack midband spectrum.

    It's puzzling. I've seen some Clearwire sites with three carriers and then the next neighboring Clearwire site with only two. But it is important to point out that I've only seen Clearwire sites with three carriers in areas with high foer traffic (shopping center, schools, and downtown). Residential areas seem to be the ones left behind.

    Sprint still hasn't finished El Paso?!? I know there are a few sites that haven't been touched in West Texas (SW of Monahans and between Van Horn and Fort Stockton), but if this site is in the immediate El Paso area, then this is just....?.
