Yeah its only really downloading maps and the network "footprint"Thank you! So it's not actually downloading lots of data while mapping like a speed test would right? Just testing radio signal strengths.
By the way in a corporate T-Mobile employee if you guys have any questions regarding our network

Welcome to the forums. I never get any hiccups while streaming music while sensorly is mapping. But what you can do to make sure is upload only when on wifi. It will still collect data and upload later when on wifi.So this is my first post and I couldn't resist responding after spending the past 2-3 hours patiently, yet curiously reading like two years of the past comments in this thread lol. I just discovered sensorly today and I'll not gonna lie, even with 7 years of cell phone sales/management, the app left me with tons of questions and this was literally the only forum I could find with any real answers.
As I read the comments, almost all of my questions were answered. I loved the video of the guy running from the cops btw lol and the pic of the sensorly penis art Lmfao! Awesome stuff!!!
SO HERE'S THE QUESTION: let's say I map a trip with the active contribution option enabled right? Let's assume I got all systems go in the background (streaming music, background data, a dozen accounts automatically syncing, Facebook, Twitter, etc)...does anyone know what kind of effect that may have (if any) on the data speeds, signal strength, etc?
I love back roads and side streets and most of the ones I take to work and friends houses are completely unmapped! Including a long 7 mile stretch on a road twenty feet away from three gulf of Mexico.
I want to map them but don't want to throw the data results off. Can anyone shed any light on this?
Psssttt...cough..cough...sensorly representative...cough? Lol thanks for the inevitable feedback. I got work in the morning. Hopefully you guys get back to me before then!

Eh keep testing. But only as long as you make sure your on b41 first. Otherwise the bandwidth cops will give you a warning. In guessing a crap load of b41 was lit up in my city today. The downside is my data usage is gonna shoot through the roof cause I've been doing speed tests throughout the day based on where I am in my city. Time to uninstall the speed test app.
-
Did you try other speed test apps? Sensorly, root metrics, etc, even some websites do speed tests.
-
I just posted that image as an example as I do not have an iphone. When lilotimz posted how to check for b41 I thought the whole bandwidth thing would be a clear and easy indication. sorry if this was already brought up.First, that says at&t band 17. That's FDD LTE. And yes, Band 41 shows 20Mhz for download and upload.

Just for the iPhone guys.
Whenever you connect to band 41 check out the plmnid and the number of TX antennas.
Old clear equipment will broadcast 2x2 Mimo on 311-490/870 while sprint will broadcast 4x2 mimo on 310-120 which means the number of TX antennas that'll show on your engineering screen will be 4.
That'll be the easiest way to identify if you're connected to the new 2.5 Equipment for the iPhone ppl.

Does ios 8 still show upload and download bandwidth? Cause wouldn't it just show 20mhz for b41.

More like a 6 lane super HOV Highway that only certain cars are allowed on and that's why there is no congestion. While in the left lanes you laugh at everyone else in the congested 2 lanes to your right. In simple English... 2.5 ghz is a 6 lane super highway during rush hour. 800 and 1900 are a 2 lane highway with the same amount of traffic as the the super highway.

Saw this report on the east bay about law enforcement using stingrays to Intercept cell signals. This is only a gsm problem right?

Here's an article in the bay area about law enforcement using stingraysLaw enforcement has been using Stingrays for a few years now that do similar stuff. So it is very possible

If you live in a "spark" market, the difference will be like night and day.For someone that has the Note 3, I just don't see it worth it for this phone. It's almost like a Note 3s (In Apple terms). Small incremental improvements.
Maybe if you're coming from an older phone, or a Note 2, but other than that, this one is a pass in my book.

Bbspot, I know you been tracking the b26 sites. Do you know where these 2 are coming from? I got this briefly in the city.Almost all the sites in San Mateo and foster city have b26. Almost all the clear wire sites now have b41. I have never come across a congested b41 site. It tends to not go very far, but it works well on a weak signal.
As you know, b41 does not penetrate indoors very well either.

Hey guys,
New to S4GRU and potentially new to Sprint as well as I have to decide what network to get an iPhone 6 on. I live in San Francisco and work in the Peninsula/South Bay. I know Spark is deployed in the East Bay but not yet in SF or on the Peninsula. I come from T-Mo and ATT so I know their networks now, but other than the general poor reputation of Sprint, know very little about their network.
For the areas in which I live/work, what's the current LTE deployment? I've heard Sprint just has a 5x5 up on B25...is that correct? What's the ETA for full Spark deployment with B26/41? With the full deployment, how much bandwidth will be available on B25/26/41?
Basically I know Sprint's network has been a POS in the Bay Area but they're working on fixing it. When it's fixed, will it be relatively congestion free like VZW/TMo or will it be shitty like AT&Ts?
Thanks.
There's a lot of work going on in the bay area right now. Plenty of B41 sites are now available in San Francisco and the Peninsula. If you check the more recent speed tests in sensorly you can see some areas getting very fast speeds.
I got these today in the mission
B25 is only 5x5 and b26 will be as well
B41 however is 20x20. More then any other carrier has continuously.
Read up on b41 8t8r antennas that are being deployed by sprint all over the country.
More people can chime in with their experience with the south bay. Parts of South bay are not great but I guess it depends exactly where you work and play. It's getting better everyday.

I was at the BC vs Pitt football game today and Sprint was smooth on LTE before, during, and after the game. Before speeds were near 20Mbps down and 7 up. during the game, they dropped to 10 down and .75 up and after, speeds were about 12 down an 3 up.
The "during" portion is great evidence that uploading is starting to be used just as much as downloading. Nearly every other person around me was uploading photos and pictures to SnapChat and Facebook.
Here's a recent article about uploads vs downloads during games.

Excellent, all of you can finally stop stressing out b25.

Just read about it. It's a carrier exclusive app (EE) called "cash on tap" sounds like a google wallet competitor. Like ISIS. So no apple pay and Google wallet yet on the tubes.I think it just charges your credit card through Google Wallet, ISIS, Apple Pay, or whatever is installed on your phone.
And as to DC, a little digging turned up that the older $5 Smartrip cards were based on the proprietary GOCARD format, but the new $2 cards are ISO 14443 based and NFC compatible.

That's cool, What app handles the transaction? Hope it gets more widespread. That would be an application I would literally use everyday instead of paying at a cashier. That's what they just started doing in London.
-
Why not cut out the middle man and just use nfc payments directly at the turnstiles and buses. Would be the same as cash. And monthly passes can be stored on the phones. The crazy thing is that many cities like Boston and Washington DC use NFC stored-value cards on rapid transit, but the machines for adding value to the cards, which have an NFC reader, don't accept NFC payments from Google wallet or RFID-enabled credit cards.

This was taken from within the 24 Hour Fitness on Auto Mall Pkwy in Fremont. Once I went outside I switched to b41.
Speaking of b41. I'm gonna miss all these fast ass speedtests once the iPhones drop. But it'll be for the best if it frees up b25. I wonder how much b41 expediting sprint did before this imminent launch. I've been noticing a lot of new sites in sf.

Thanks for the tip. Just read about it elsewhere looks like an interesting little hack that might speed up other things. Just didn't help with this one little bug.Hmm. That's weird. That fixed all my YouTube issues. Thought it might help you.

Yeah I rebooted.
So is it just me? Can anyone else play videos through the newsstand app while on lte?

Changed it toZero out your server proxies in the ##data# menu, edit, enter your MSL, multimedia, change fields to 0 or 0.0.0.0

Still same error message. What's weird is that if I start the video in wifi I can switch over to LTE just fine. And it'll finish playing. The video just needs to initialize in wifi.

Does anyone else get this on their s5 when trying to play a YouTube video within google play newsstand? This only happens on lte. It's fine on wifi. I'm trying to figure out if it's an s5 issue or an app issue. Happens every single time.
