  1. tried stock messenger, hangouts, and chomp sms. they all behave the same (do not work correctly). there is definitely a bug with either 5.0, or the nexus 6, or sprint.

Try textra, they've pushed about 7 updates in the past two weeks with bug fixes for L. So its most likely something with L

  2. Well the Nexus 6 signal check is working great on. My only gripe is not towards yourself or Signal check, its towards not being able to reset the connection. due to no root available yet. But I have noticed that neighboring cells is working awesomely! I was down in Jacksonville, FL last night, had 13 neighboring cells at once! Was a very very open area. Also I am sure you are aware, but the Nexus 6 is reporting Clear B41 as LTE 2500, unlike the S5 which couldn't distinguish between B25 and Clear listing them both as LTE. So I am happy about that, that it is displaying it as LTE 2500 on both Clear B41 and Sprint B41.

So are we going to get a Christmas Gift of an updated signal check? lol. Just kidding you dont have to do that. Thanks for all the hard work Mike! Such a great app. I played around with all the display models in the sprint store and downloaded the lite version just for S & Gs to see how well they were performing signal wise.

Anywho if you need something tested on the Nexus 6 let me know I am more than willing to help in any way i can.

    Kevin

Root has been available since it launched....the reset function doesn't work because of changes to how android functions with the swap to art.

  3. how do i do that? you didnt lose anything right? i suppose if that were the case you would have just flashed the entire factory image.

You can flash parts of the factory image separately, flashing the recovery shouldn't lose any user data. Flashing the full image will cause you to lose data though.
  4. Anyone know of a fix for this? I have a 32Gb N5 and most of my storage is gone after installing the android 5 upgrade full flash to stock rooted. I also did a factory reset. 32 Gb phone show 9gb available of 11gb

Twrp->wipe->format data. If you don't have twrp installed flash it again.

  5. It's ok to bash/debate Apple. Any android bashing will probably be deleted. Android can't do no wrong.

I'm impartial and have yet to partake in any of this. However everyone's coming across rather butt hurt now[emoji28] ... Although I wouldn't agree that there's no android bashing going on, it happens inside the threads for each individual phone. Take a gander through the n5 thread there's pages of complaints and whatnot about the OS in addition to the phone.
  6. Very logical and I assume sadly correct.

Places I frequent in CT and southwestern MA - I've yet to be impressed with reliability. It has greatly improved speed wise no doubt. But staying locked on - no.

Not being sarcastic but I'd like to spend time in a really good built out reliable Sprint market. The Sprint contact I have has been amazing at helping me. Latest network ticket came back with zero issues for this area. I asked what that meant and the answer pretty much aligns with what you stated. He told me my best option was going back to VZW. I really don't want to though. Sigh....

    Thanks for the info.

  7. These instructions are doing a good job of making me feel dumb, lol. I'm confused just trying to figure out how to download the sdk and fastboot tool

Go onto XDA, they have a bare essentials version of the SDK thats a lot simpler. And literally a guide for everything you could want.
  8. Yes exact same site and bands monitored using signal check pro

    Very strange

Same result at the tower by my home

Could just be one radio is a bit better than the other and pulling a better quality signal. Or the tower could just more burdened when you're on the one radio than the other (would be highly coincidental, but possible).
  9. Hey everyone,I'm running android l the developer 2 with lpx13d (new radio) and I'm getting speed tests of ~.30mbps. When I flash the old .15 radio, I get 4-5mbps. Does anyone know what's going on?

This is on both lte800 and LTE

    Thanks

Are you on the same site and sector with both radios? Or even the same band of LTE? That's the first thing you need to check using either the engineering screens or an app like signal check.

  10. Doesn't Sprint domestically lock all the phones (even unsubsidized) sold through their stores? I care about that mostly for resale value (ie Sprint iPhones sell for much less than any other carrier's because they're locked). I'm not clear as to whether that will apply to the Nexus 6 though.

I was also under the impression that Sprint internationally locks all phones and won't unlock it for 90 days after purchase, regardless of whether you paid full price. Is that actually the case?

Not with the nexus devices. I have a nexus 5 I purchased on contract in January from a corporate store that I've used numerous other Sims in at some point and time, including international Sims.

  11.

I don't see the Nexus 5 on the website, so I can't do that math right now. But I did the math on my fiancee's Moto X which had been released a full year earlier and that also came out cheaper on the contract.

    - Trip

16gb nexus 5 is 350 off contract. Which comes out to be ~$14.59 a month for 24 months abiding by standard two year upgrade cycle. Compared to a my way plan (which has a 27 dollar a month subsidy baked into it I believe) the unsubsidized plans are cheaper if you plan on buying an n5.

It seems like I'm one of the few who wished they had no subsidy plans back in January when I switched over. I'd have saved a couple hundred bucks this year if they had[emoji38].

  12. Who did this jailbreak? I haven't followed up on it one bit. Is it evasi0n?

Nope, Chinese group. All the normal major jailbreak players have basically said they're done with iOS because it isn't a challenge. Well and one of them was pissed at the Chinese group for using an exploit method he found and not citing him.
  13. I'm one of those weirdo Christian guys who doesn't celebrate Halloween. I'm going to Kansas City instead and have BBQ with AJ. Much better way to celebrate October 31st!

No way, where are you guys going to go? There's a chance I might be in that area with friends xD. By the way next time you're in st Louis hit up Pappy's down by SLU.
  14. I hope they sell a ton of these and I can buy one used next year. Nexus 5 resale prices have remained stubbornly high for anyone looking to get one used. Though I wonder if there is just some informal price floor for a new top of the line phone not being sold for under 300 or so after 1 year.

I've seen a couple in pretty good condition (normal wear and tear) with wireless chargers included selling for 200-250 online.
  15.

The point of the cleanup was to get rid of the unreliable entries from when the app had issues identifying B41.. those issues should be gone, so why would you want them to be deleted again? There is already an option within the app to clear the entire log if that's what you're looking for.

    -Mike

You mentioned wondering if there'd be issues for someone encountering clear sites after having escaped the spring cleaning due to not having any entries before it. So i was suggesting maybe reprompting once, for those who want to/know they need to some point down the line.

  16. You will only get the prompt if you have any Clearwire B41 entries in your Site Log the first time you open the app after updating. If there are no entries, there is nothing to clean up. If you have a S5, I doubt you will be prompted, because the S5 can't identify Clear B41.

Although now I'm wondering if there will be an issue down the road when someone who isn't prompted then saves some Clear B41 entries.. hmm.. uh oh!

    -Mike

Can you work it to re-prompt and re-clean the entries every 3ish months or something?
  17. Hence my hope that most people would opt to scrub it away. Did the prompt seem clear enough? Adjusting the wording took longer than coding it.

Many of yours were probably bogus duplicate entries of B25 and/or B26 sites that had the wrong PLMN showing.. plus with one entry per unique GCI, a typical site could have 6 such entries (3 B25 sectors, 3 B26). The garbage piles up quickly!

    -Mike

It seemed clear to me. There was one thing I found odd, the order of the choices. Normally you see it as: yes, no, maybe later (at least in my experience). However your way probably helps cut down on people accidentally clicking yes and then getting angry with you :P.
