The only people I know with Sprint who have bad service down there are people who own apple products.I swear you were the only person to get good signal there lol!

Huh, I moved in late august so I can't comment on anything super recent. However from January until then there's been LTE in the majority of Chesterfield, and usable 3g in almost every other place.I was wondering about that too. I'm rarely in Chesterfield but my dad works out there at the airport and complains to me about Sprint service there a lot. He's considering leaving our family plan because he can't keep having an unusable phone at work.
-
I'm on a my way plan, I joined this January so I was legitimately confused and sort of joking. Can't tell if your joking or being sarcastic, but there is a $10 'premium data' fee for smartphones on 'everything data' plans that has been around ever since the evo 4g wimax came out.
I believe all the new plans have had this fee removed and/or integrated into the base price.
-
There's a 4g up charge? I guess I need to look at my bill this month to see lol.

1 mb is perfect for anything other than streaming HD video...Thanks, I do appreciate the information. It's nice to get the very latest on what's going on with Sprint here in the Springfield area. Makes my decision a little more interesting. It would certainly be nice to have unlimited data on a fast network. Unlimited is nice, but when it's at 1MB down or worse (I get 100kb down at my office...dial-up on steroids), it doesn't mean a whole lot. Spark sounds very promising and much needed!

Loads better, like 10-15dbm better. The n5 is still the best rf performer on the market with the g3 coming close.Quick question?
How is the cell radio (reception?) compared to the iPhone 5s?

-
Mine has done that before, I just waited a bit. Plugged it in and hard rebooted and its always worked for me.My n5 died yesterday. Worked fine on the way home had a full charge, next time I go to look at it, it was dead, won't power up at all, no matter how long I press any combination of keys.
No boot screen, no vibration, no nothing, dead dead dead.
-
I will take my n5 and the lg g watch r when it comes out for less than the iPhone 6. So far 9/10 iPhone users I know have come asking me for phone recommendations now that the 6 is roughly the same size as the nexus 5. Over all the consensus on the I watch is that its kinda fugly and way too expensive.

I'm excited for lenovo to take over. Assuming their phones are the same quality their thinkpad line up is.if moto was staying with google, I'd be all about this phone for myself and family, but there is too much unknown about how well legacy momo devices will be supported once lenovo takes over and starts designing their own devices.

FYI all textra users/previous users. In the newest update (released today) they have stated individual bubble colors are coming back soon!
-
Its smexy, and I don't have that issue. However it did update like three rimes today. So its possible fixed.I use textra, and I agree the new UI looks pretty nice. I don't seem to have the same problems as you. My number keys work, and after sending a test text message, I was able to press back and get to the message list. Maybe see if any settings got messed up after the update (I know I have had an update mess with my settings before). For the number thing, I'm using the stock Google Keyboard, are you using any 3rd party ones? I'm just wondering if maybe there's an interaction issue. I don't know. If all else fails, maybe clear cache and Dalvik cache or uninstall and reinstall the app as a last resort.
I also know there was a second update recently, a day after the UI change. Maybe see if you have the latest version. Otherwise, I wish you luck in getting this problem fixed.

I'm going for the LG G watch R, it looks superior to me. Assuming the pricing isn't ridiculous of course.
-
Now you know what'd be awesome? If they made the new iPhone(or whatever they're announcing) available for purchase early there. Like limited quantity collector edition numbered ones, packed with an iwatch. Maybe for a 100 premium or something not super excessive.Apple has something big planned!

I think there was a thread about this, the roaming for triband devices is jacked up. However you can still roam.Is the G3 not able to roam on some carriers for data? The sprint maps lose a lot of roaming coverage for data for the G3 (shows white for no coverage) but come back when the Nexus 5 is chosen.
-
Still the best.I used the Nexus 5 on AT&T/T-Mobile and was disappointed at the RF performance. I could literally lose network connectivity entirely by putting the phone in my pocket, whereas I didn't have that issue with other smartphones. I tried different radios and even an RMA.
From all of the posts in this thread, it looks like many folks are tinkering with the radio for better LTE performance. Out of curiousity, how is RF performance on the Nexus 5 compared to other Sprint smartphones?

Here's my log, feel free to look.

I can't say for 100% sure but I feel like I did for a least part of it. There was a crap load of b26 also. I can pull my log and send it to you to see if there are any new ones.Did you have LTE between Collins and Springfield? I wasn't aware that stretch of 13 had any LTE yet. Other than immediately around Collins, and immediately on the north side of Springfield.
-
Or it could be a site designed to boost coverage, not capacity.Downloads off this are only 2 to 3 megs. Guess this means it hasn't been optimized?
-
So I drove down from Parkville(up by KC) to Springfield. I had LTE honestly about 95% of the way, without toggling or doing anything to my phone. I drove down MO13 for most of the trip, I have to say it was a nice surprise.

Getting a new 5s was a sign. Increased retail value when you sell it for the 6:P.And a possible confirmed iphone deal with sprint? Good god. I might have to get it early if it's a good deal. Bye bye 5s
-
If you haven't already go through and read the threads for each phone on here. Also if rooting/unlocking is a big deal I don't believe the G3 is able to be yet.

I like the roll over data bucket idea. However there's a few issues with your "capitalize on the perception" idea. First that's essentially lying, and when customers start to question what they're being told and word starts spreading that'll hurt Sprint's reputation even more. They need to market it as what it is, vastly superior in building coverage and obstacle penetration. Fudging things to exploit average customer stupidity/lack of knowledge will only come to bite them in the ass.Two things would excite me.
1) Usage based billing. Pay for what you use by GB , with buckets becoming cheaper as you go. If we are financing our devices now, why not? If usage based billing isnt attractive, then sell me data buckets that ROLLOVER from month to month. Some months im a 4GB guy, others a 1. The advertising could be quirky and very disruptive to the other 3.
2) Announce network expansion. Say its strategic... get the public believing again that the size as well as the quality is growing. I believe many users could be told "the network is growing" and believe smr is in fact a new site... capitalize on the perception

Our actual 3g that Sprint and Verizon uses caps out around 2mb down when not saturated. Att and T-Mobile use hspa+ which is faux 4g (suped up 3g), and can go up to as high as 42mb down. One main reason sprint has poor 3g some places is due to some towers not having fiber hooked up yet, and not having LTE live to off load some burden either (no fiber means no LTE).You know, I've been browsing a lot on S4GRU and seen very modest speeds for LTE. Don't worry, I know all too well the low speed posting rule!
I'm just trying to understand the logic of LTE that side. Is 3G so saturated and so poor that modest LTE speeds are like a breath of fresh air?
Our cell sites were spaced on the needs of populations years ago and they haven't really been adding very many for capacity, especially not in more rural areas. This could be cost related or do to how big of a pain in the ass it is to get permits through in a decent time frame.
