  1. After sprint wraps up the northeastern part of the country, i think they are going to start pouncing on the mid part of the country, especially because they now have acquired more spectrum in some areas such as Chicago. More spectrum equals more capacity on cell sites, which means your connection will not slow down as much when the entire population decides to inhabit your precious LTE
  2. Also, notice how sprint has been swirming over PA with LTE deployment? I think sprint focuses on one larger region at a time. This is why they are deploying LTE faster, and deploying it much faster than they deployed WIMAX
  3. Having one phone that does connect to eHRPD, and one that does not is a new thing to me. I would be definetely stumped if i had that problem. Hardware issues more than likely if factory reset does not fix the issue.
  4. Because of my broken LG Viper, sprint said they would replace my phone with a different model and the galaxy nexus was the other model i could choose to replace the viper with, so i did. Not a bad phone really, it still lives up to its name.
  5. It was being set in place with a previous sprint tower, and i used open signal maps to find it
  6. Yes, i have looked at the dBm values. At times, the difference between my value and other sprint phones values ranged from a 4 to 10 dBm difference. When one sprint phone would have a -93dBm signal strength, mine would be around -105 to -109dBm signal strength.. I can not figure out why this happens
  7. I have seen a new sprint tower being installed here in Butler, PA. A samsung van was there, or it may have been alcatel lucent, couldnt make out the name very well... anyways, the tower had two panels at the top, and looked more standard than anything.. the only difference is it was much taller than other sprint towers i have seen in the past. Im not entirely sure on what sprint plans to use this tower for(Expanded 3G, or LTE), but we shall see..
  8. Well, as i have gotten a galaxy nexus at long last, ive noticed that other sprint phones have been constantly getting better signal than my phone has. For example, when i went to the sprint store, my phone varies from 1-2 bars in the store. When i would go over to any other sprint phones, they would have at least 3-5 bars. And this was more than just one different sprint phone that did it, it was every phone in the store that had a better signal than mine, except for the galaxy nexus at the store. It had the same signal strength as mine did.. Radio issue possibly??
  9. Ive had that problem at times too. I love how thin the phone is, but it almost makes it impossible to get a good hold of it sometimes.
  10. Thank you for the helpful document. I will download it when i get home here lol
  11. Yes ill agree with that. The IPhone 5 has had good reports of battery life, as well as the EVO. The thing i do not know is the capacity of the battery used in the IPhone 5? I dont believe apple showed the capacity of the battery in the specs list on their website.
  12. Your area will be deployed with eHRPD in wide groups, so most likely, you will see it everywhere within a short time
  13. When i am in Pittsburgh, PA, speeds stay fairly constant, even directly in the city, but yes there has been times where i have noticed my speeds dramatically decreasing, probably due to sprint limiting the speeds. Honestly i didnt even know they did cap speeds
  14. Alright that would be nice, thank you! Battery life is an issue with a good bit of smartphones now a days. I am trying to find an extended battery for my Gnex, but im not sure where to find a good quality one. Ebay is pretty decent at times, but there are some sellers that do not give you what you buy.. lol
  15. From what im seeing, i think pittsburgh will get NV love maybe in the beginning of next year. It will definetely be here in 2013
  16. Very nice! Honestly, the phone just runs smoother with modded software. Battery has drained a good bit though. If i leave my 3G on for the entire day, my phone will die within five hours. If i turn off data, it lasts all day. Its a miracle what technology can do to us these days
  17. I think there was a new PRL release a day ago, PRL 25010. From my studies, it seems to allow more 3G roaming. A side note: Sprint does not actually have "True unlimited 3G roaming". In some instances, sprint will give you a 300 MB cap on data used over another carriers` network. What they mean is that roaming data is unlimited over another carriers 1x network. The only time when this does not apply is when you are roaming off of a nextel network(3G)
  18. I am starting this thread to keep track of any network enhancements in the above markets. I will update this when i get more information, but until then, feel free to post anything you know.
  19. Hey yall! So i recently picked up a new galaxy nexus, and well knowing me, it was rooted, bootloader unlocked, and a custom rom was flashed by the next day.. well anyways, i figured i would say that cyanogenmod 10.1(AOSP) rom is one of the best roms for the nexus. Performance: This is a biggie for most people, so i will go into detail of why this rom offers great performance. First off, we have a smaller firmware size with less bloatware. Thats the number one thing that affects performace, even know the stock rom didnt have much bloatware on it in the first place. Second, cyanogenmod uses, and in most instances has always used JIT(Just in-time compiler). I have not done the research to fully understand what this does, but for my guess would be compressing running applications and data before sent to the processor, then when the processor receives the compressed(Smaller file size) data, it is processed quicker through the CPU(Do not quote me on this, it is only an educated guess). Along with the above features, new battery saving options have been added.(Mainly controlled by user) Cyanogenmod offers a performace setting that allows users to change the min/max cpu speed of the device(Does not overclock the device with the kernel installed with cyanogenmod, so no worries of smoke coming from your phone). It also allows you to change the I/O scedueler, which as i am still learning from my 5 years of custom rom experience, i would say it affects how processes are handled internally, resulting in faster performace. The beauty One of the big advantages of cyanogenmod, the many ways to make your phone the meanest device in the house, the pure beauity of cyanogenmod. First, the theme chooser application included with cyanogenmod allows users to download themes from the market(search cm10 themes) and to install them, and there you go, you can now theme every corner of your device. Just do not get the iphone theme... please for the love of god. Anyways, with the above performace options available in cyanogenmod, as well as the many other features, i think this rom deserves a 5-star rating! One thing to be careful with, do NOT flash a custom kernel that was not made by cyanogenmod, as the nexus is picky about booting insecure kernel image files. In other words, unless you want a blue screen phone with a bootloop on the samsung logo, be careful. Enjoy the thread guys! Feel free to comment.
  20. I say we all go back to dial-up.. Anyone??? Nah, that would not be a good idea.. too much noise.. I need my eight hours of sleep without something sounding like its shorting out.. lol
  21. My mistake. I wil be traveling to Hershey, PA this friday, so sensorly users, watch the map closely as i will be running the sensorly app for the entire trip.
  22. This may be a bit unrelated to the topic, but has anyone noticed the Hershey, PA market has seemed to get more purple blotches on sensorly?? ;D
  23. I agree with this. Sprint users, do not be fooled by what their track record is like now. Think of it. Unlimited LTE, and faster 3G. If anything, i would kill for faster 3G, and that would hold me over until they activated LTE in my area. The bottom line is that sprint has been deploying LTE much faster than when AT&T started their LTE deployment roughly a year ago. If you go over to verizon, thats like giving a 14 year old girl your credit card, and telling her to go nuts.. on sprint however, you pay a flat rate for unlimited talk, text, and unlimited data! And besides, when sprint does further enhance LTE, i have a feeling we may just be faster than verizon`s LTE, maybe not AT&T, but hey we do not know what the future holds for us.
