  1. Yeah, the one on Frost Rd. seems to be in a good location as I connected to it when I was in Bainbridge (Geauga County). Unfortunately with the foliage mostly out now, it further attenuates radio signals, especially being primarily 1.9GHz too. I lose LTE more frequently when I travel now since all the leaves came out a couple weeks ago.
  2. I think local interference/noise sources and/or obstructions are a big factor in how well ones data connection works. In a more populated area, I've found that LTE signals of -115dBm are almost useless. However in open or more rural areas, I've experienced LTE signals around -125dBm that were able to pull faster than 3G speeds.
  3. I the site in Bristolville has got LTE now as well, not that too many of y'all get out that direction much
  4. The only really distinguishing feature I can really see is the what appears to be a microwave antenna of some kind that the Samsung equipment seems to lack. The antennas themselves look to be roughly the same size. I see a lot of these when I'm in Sprint's WiMAX footprint in Cleveland, OH. While I'm thinking about it, is there a glossary of terms and acronyms somewhere on S4GRU? It took me about a month to figure out that a "RRU" was a remote radio head, and I still have no idea what a GMO is.
  5. I second that assessment
  6. It has been my experience that the pings seem to be the worst on Sensorly speed tests. Comparing down/up speeds with Ookla has shown me comparable results with Sensorly actually being slightly faster in download speed testing.
  7. On a slightly different yet related note, has anyone connected to band 41 in the Cleveland area lately? I struck out the last couple of times I was in town over the last week or two.
  8. Looks like folks aren't wasting any time with Sensorly plotting the newly discovered LTE in northern Summit County
  9. I'm glad that I'm on the other side. I was having the same issues here about 2 months ago.
  10. Those are like 1X speeds! Sounds like a good sign of progress, though.
  11. The plug was pulled completely on my local site for about 6 hours as they were doing the NV transition; I live in a rural area though. I was near downtown Warren last week and signal carriers are about all that existed. I had no data up or down and most text messages I sent failed. I was able to at least make a phone call.
  12. I can't find any WiMAX speed tests at even the closest zoom levels. This is via the mobile app. I conducted a few WiMAX speed tests in my area (Northeast Ohio), and none of them showed up on the maps Perhaps the web version shows them...I'll have to check.
  13. Is this honkin' strong LTE, or what I like to call residual LTE? If it were me, I'd hold off on the Sensorly plots until it lands locally; otherwise, the plots will be inaccurate and they take forever to correct.
  14. I'm fairly sure that Sprint announced that they were immediately terminating further WiMAX deployment when they announced NV. I would imagine that they will still do routine maintenance until they pull the WiMAX plug, whenever that will be. I'm temporarily back to my WiMAX capable phone now and I've been plotting some service area sites not too far from where I live for the heck of it. I figure it'll eventually get band 41 and it'll be nice to know the footprint since it probably won't show up on Sprint's spark coverage maps. I did do a speed test today on WiMAX and got over 10Mbps down and about 1.5Mbps up
  15. I unfortunately learned the hard way also, but it's ultimately a personal judgement call. LTE is briskly being deployed in my region and I've come across several live LTE sites that had nothing on Sensorly. The deployment maps on this site certainly help, but sometimes it takes weeks, sometimes a month or more, before sites are "officially" approved and updated on the deployment maps.
  16. Apparently Sensorly does not plot speed tests on WiMAX. It does seem to execute speed tests on WiMAX just fine. I think the speeds are respectable. It's not LTE, obviously, but it's still much faster than 3G
  17. That's pretty good for band 25! The best band 25 speed test I ever got was in Parkman, just a little over 32Mbps down and around 10Mbps up. I guess not too many people are using the LTE there .
  18. I read somewhere on this site that Akron and Youngstown within like a 50KM radius is not affected by IBEZ, so it's possible that band 26 could land there. I don't think not having band 26 will be a huge deal. Signal penetration on 1900 in Cuyahoga county is pretty good in most places. It may only be a big issue in large buildings, and even then, you'll at least have 800SMR
  19. Thanks for looking into it. I guess I'll have to make a special trip to find out for myself.
  20. Hmm, that's strange. I just installed Sensorly on my old Nexus S 4G yesterday and the WiMAX layer is there. And yes, I am using the mobile Android app.
  21. Question for y'all... Just for the heck of it, I was looking at the WiMAX coverage on Sensorly (Cleveland Ohio metro area), and I was curious about speed tests too. The problem is that I can't find any speed tests in the entire region. Is it even possible to plot a speed test on the WiMAX map, or has nobody run a speed test in forever.
  22. I had even higher ping times for the first few weeks after my local tower got LTE. It's only been within the last week or two that ping times on sensorly got down to around 150ms again. And yes, I do think that 150ms is a tad high, but it's not enough of a motivator for me to get a separate app just to have slightly more accurate ping times.
