  1. I asked a few weeks ago about protection sites, but never got a response, so that's why I was very specific in my wording. Some protection sites are still very far from deployed B41 areas. Nice to get some feedback on the issue I sympathize with you regarding B26 as I am in the same boat being inside the Canadian IBEZ .
  2. Today's the day WiMAX is scheduled to die nationwide at least for all non-protection sites
  3. I don't even have B26 in 99% of my market, so Sprint has tweaked the heck out of B25. In some cases, my device doesn't fall back to 3G until the signal is -125dBm or weaker. With a 5x5 configuration, I think someone is much better off on 3G EVDO when the signal dips below roughly -115. It sure beats pulling hair out when web pages time out and texts fail to send.
  4. A lot of the old nextel equipment (antennas anyway) in my area are long gone. I've seen the Nextel labled electrical meter at some iDEn conversion sites.
  5. It also might be a malicious app disguised to look like and perhaps function like Apple pay. It probably wouldn't be very effective being called something like "Android or apple pay financial credentials stealer ".
  6. I've found that certain IP addresses that get assigned to me do not allow me to access this site. A new IP address usually resolves the issue. I thought I was banned the first time it happened to me
  7. Looks like you've got your answer about the debug screens As far as 800 is concerned, B26 has only been found at our most southerly sites. 1x800 made a splash back in about October for most sites greater than 100KM (roughly 65 miles) from the Canadian border. Wadsworth is still north of this line, but close enough to the line where some 1x from adjacent sites to the south and east can be received (speaking from personal experience), but that'll be difficult to do unless you've got a 1x800 prioritized PRL. Greater Cleveland and points north of Warren to Akron to Mansfield are still being held hostage courtesy of Canadian 800 rebranding.
  8. Thanks for the information, Trip. I thought that you might chime in. It looks like the theoretical interference between broadcasters is more widespread than I thought.
  9. Last I heard, it was still in development. Experimental testing was done last year in the Cleveland area for ATSC 3.0 and it was found that the UHD transmissions needed more work, so I don't see 4K broadcast television happening in the near future.
  10. In this case it is interference between television broadcast stations. It is allowable if the interfering stations both agree to the additional interference caused to each other. The two stations I'm referring to are WYTV (with a station in Maryland) and WNEO (with a station in Indiana, I believe). Often times propagation enhancement over the lake (tropo) reaps havoc with digital broadcasts on the same channel (as well as results in some mighty fine DX when interference isn't a factor), and an analog versus a digital signal is even worse. WOIO has been plagued with this problem with CFPL for years on RF-10. The can't return to RF-19 because of adjacent channel interference with WFMJ on RF-20.
  11. In my market (Cleveland/Youngstown, OH), there's already interference in excess of FCC guidelines for at least two stations in my region, so the only option really left is either sharing of channels, which means less bandwidth, or find out how to make VHF, especially LOW VHF, work well for digital television. This is why I'm critical of this "incentive auction".
  12. I'Ve found that my devices have connected to Verizon 1x and Sprint EVDO since they're 2 different signals. To test this, I had to stream some audio to keep it roaming and I did a drive by of two sites locally where I knew Sprint and Verizon were on separate towers about a 1/2 mile apart . I found that I got -50s RSSI signals on both going by the respective towers. Also, I never changed 1x sectors when going by the site with the stronger EVDO signal which told me that Verizon was elsewhere.
  13. Us folks who live in snowbelt regions see this several times year. We'd be in real trouble if folks panicked over 2' of snow and rolled up the sidewalks
  14. Site spacing is relatively close as is most sites in Cuyahoga County. Unfortunately, PCS (1900 MHz) doesn't do well in large buildings even when the site is extremely close. And we still don't have 800 in the Cleveland area. 1x800 is at many sites east and south of Akron, and I've been impressed by the range and better building penetration. LTE 800 won't be quite as robust, but one will still stand a better chance at deep inside building coverage. The wait for 800 can be frustrating at times, especially when it matters most like in buildings or the middle of nowhere. TMO has deployed LTE on their sliver of 700 MHz in our market. With WDLI's CH. 51 translator permanently silenced, it made deployment and utilization easier. Verizon has a chunk of 700 as well as ATT.
  15. I'm not sure why anything would change in regards to B41 coverage being reduced. The WiMAX hostage situation is preventing Sprint from doing any upgrades to Clear sites. Some of the WiMAX only Clear sites have been shut down, but they can't touch any live WiMAX sites till the legal issues are resolved. I suppose there's no restriction to shutting off B41, but that doesn't really make sense to me to do that. There are a couple live Clear B41 sites collocated with Sprint, but they aren't anywhere near Landerhaven.
  16. I'm curious myself and surprised that nobody has chimed in yet.
  17. A-HEM, the rest of us in the primary Canadian IBEZ zone are in the same shape. 1x800 has pushed northward to about 65 miles from the border here in OH, but B26 still is about 100 miles away and nothing 800 MHz is in our Primary IBEZ areas. I haven't looked at the 800ta.org quarterly report in quite some time, and don't follow it as much now that Ohio is rebranded. Washington was super lagging according to the reports up to this past summer, but hopefully that has changed.
  18. I think it may be somewhat market dependant as far as 800 installation in IBEZ areas are concerned. Most of the sites in the Cleveland market already have at least the dualband antenna installed, and 1x800 lit up rather quickly in the secondary IBEZ once Sprint decided to activate it about 3 or 4 months ago.
  19. I was going by the summary on the first page. It obviously needs to to be updated. I wasn't trying to step on your toes, sorry.
  20. Doesn't look like you've got this one yet. I grabbed it on US-23 about halfway between Toledo, OH and Ann Arbor, MI
  21. It seems to be that Canada seems to be the culprit for the most part, and I've found out that it's difficult to get any information on what's going on with the Canadian rebranding. All 800ta.org covers is the US rebranding. The ibez areas have shrunk within the last 6 months with the introduction of 1x800 for sites up to about 65 miles from the border, but no B26 so far.
  22. Looks like it's CA. That's not surprising to me being that I've found that both B41 carriers are on adjacent channels. Would you happen to know the location of this site? If so, could you post it in the Cleveland B26/41 thread? we're lacking CA confirmations. Thanks!
  23. I've had mixed feelings about WiMAX going away. Even with the shoestring budget that the network was built on, it worked reasonably well and was much faster than 3G. However, I think it's seen its time and is proving more of a hinderence with the advancement of LTE services. I've discovered that the WiMAX network here in Cleveland is a tremendous spectrum hog (at least 80MHz). Three separate carrier frequencies are used for each sector per tower versus one for LTE. And the same LTE carrier can be used for all adjacent sites where WiMAX cannot. Since most subscribers have triband devices now, the local clear sites are not up to the task, often yielding slower speeds than B25 here (sometimes rivaling 3G speeds). The equipment needs replaced with much higher capacity 8T8R and backhaul (extensively microwave) probably needs an overhaul too.
  24. So far the 10x10 carrier has only been found in a few western counties in our market where Sprint's PCS spectrum holdings permit. It's different for each county. If Sprint decides to repack their PCS spectrum, several more counties could support a 10x10 carrier, but still not all in our market.
