Too bad I still can't get it in half of what that map says.

Tower by my apt. (ina rd and shannon) LTE testing
-
No love for tucson again.. Did we stall?
-
Because you need a stronger signal for LTE to work? Thought that had been discussed before.
LTE propagates at the same rate as EVDO, but is a more fragile air link. LTE works down to about -95dBm RSSI whereas EVDO works down to about -115dBm RSSI.

-_- Its just extremely frustrating.. No LTE at home or work and when i do run into it it doesn't function half the time anyway. The whole process feels pointless.
What is an air link? I thought they were both 1900?
-
But why does the 3g work in the same place? This is what I don't get. My gf is always completing that she never gets 4g at her work. She has to turn lte mode off because when it does connect nothing on her phone will work. The tower by her work and in back both have lte.

All the time..

Is there a map that shows what areas are upgraded with 41?

Got an update notification 4.06.651.9 it just says system stability improvements. Does it change anything else?

Spark is the 2.5GHz spectrum from Clearwire.
800MHz SMR spectrum taken from Nextel is the issue in IBEZ areas like ours. The internationa boundary with Canada and Mexico means that there are numerous other regulatory difficulties that need to be overcome before the spectrum can be used for CDMA/LTE. Stray signals travelling over the border can wreak havok so it must be planned out exactly for guard bands, etc. to mitigate issues. Anyplace within approximately 100 miles of the Canadian and Mexican borders aren't going to see 800MHz for a while, thus we will have worse indoor coverage and some gaps between towers still that anywhere else would be covered.
I'm hoping we get to see Spark coverage faster due to this however. Part of the other reason for 800MHz is to offload some customers from the 1900MHz LTE if possible to ballance the load, without the ability to do that in IBEZ areas, the LTE carriers here will get overloaded faster, which Spark could help take care of by generating those higher-speed LTE hotspots around the towers for those within range. This may just be wishful thinking on my part though.
If it was already established with Nextel then why cant they just use that? Its not like its a different company anymore, they own it!

Yes, LTE is more fragile. Also LTE & CDMA are calculated differently.
Will it get better or is this just how it is?
-
Is LTE a weaker? As it lights up more and more around town it has always felt weaker and fragile.
I drove up to a new site that was activated just to see the difference, on CDMA only i was getting a solid -30 dBm but when i switced it back it connected to LTE at -61 dBm and i didn't move an inch. Is there a reason its like this?

looks like we might not have the IR blaster?
Looks like it will, the power button looks similar to the current One.

Yes, unfortunately in IBEZ markets LTE will likely be much more lackluster until the 800MHz stuff is sorted out. Unfortunately, these markets also aren't likely the highest priority for Spark either to help compensate.
You also have to keep in mind that the few LTE sites active around Tucson are covering much more area than intended once they are all upgraded.
I guess i still don't understand this 100%. The 3G is slow in Tucson but it covers the area well, wouldn't it just be the same when all the towers are upgraded and broadcasting LTE? Also why wouldn't spark be a priority? You would think that because we cant get 800 yet that they would try to get 2600 out here..
-
Something is going on. Had to switch to CDMA only because it was just losing the connection constantly.
-
Will it be spark capable? Or does that go without saying.

Got out to picture rocks and mapped a bit of lte. Knew it was there, just wanted to see it on the map pulled 21 Mbps on speed test, love it!

Is there theoretically anything you could do to improve the radio function with root and s-off? I.e. are we talking a software issue or is this hardware dependent?
From what i have seen i believe its hardware limitations.

And heres another thought....for those who like to upgrade every year or so...
you know how you still pay $200ish for a subsidized phone?? Just put that as your down payment, then your monthly is cheaper + you get enough for Framily $25...its cheaper all the way around.....
I think I am going to be switching my Corp acct to a personal and jump to framily...makes more sense...
of the 5 that have unlimited data...only i go over the 1GB range....so why am i paying $30 per for that???
Still hate it..
What i pay now $59
non subsidized phone + Framily $25 (with 7+ people) I use 5+ Gb of data so i need unlimited $20(data) + $11(insurence) + $20(moto x) = $76
NOW - $59
FRAMILY - $76
Im really glad that the HTC one is the best phone i have ever had. If this does not change i will just be keeping what i have now, even if the M8 is better
-
Yup, you were just the kind of person I was thinking of when I wrote that facetious "WTF" reaction post.
AJ
I just wish they would give you the choice to do this OR the 2 year.

according to sprints official map, yuma has 4g lte launched.
So it is.. Tucson needs to hurry up!
-
You mean these phones do not cost $200? WTF, I want my $200 phone!
AJ
I actually hate this! I will never be buying a phone from sprint again.
When my upgrade was up i really wanted the HTC One, so i looked around and ended up getting up getting it from costco for $150.
When i went into sprint to talk about that framily thing i noticed that all the phones had a pay a small about now then pay the rest over 24 months. I asked if i could just do the one payment and the 2 year contract like before and they said no.
The Moto x was $20 now and $20 for the next 24 months.. So not only does that make my bill $20 more a month thats also $500! What a bad deal..

pretty sure if your plan includes data roaming you will continue to have it. However if you can get 800 LTE then you might not even need it

I mean on EVDO not 1xRTT.. Also no, I have the HTC one and live to close to the border so no 800 for this cowboy.
