I miss CellularInfo more than I thought I would, but love how stable 8.3 is. I was looking around the app store and came across an app called Cellular Info. I haven't spent the 2.99 to see if it really works but I'm curious about it since it claims to show the data we're looking for and is being distributed in the app store. My point for bringing it up is not so much to encourage replacing this app, but more so to explore how it might be working (if even it's just an oversight by the app approval God's). https://appsto.re/us/qMaO4.i

I notice the FAQ makes it seem as though SMS/MMS doesn't work in a WiFi only area. I'm taking that to mean you'd need a signal from the macro network to still send/receive SMS/MMS, which kind of defeats the whole purpose of WiFi calling imho. I had a -122 1x signal at a campsite on the lake Superior shoreline in Michigan's UP last fall. All the photos I took at this spot have my geolocation as Lutsen, MN, so I suspect the signal was from the tower there. That's over 70 miles of lake in between! I wouldn't go so far as to say it was entirely usable though. I received a couple text messages but couldn't send. After several try's I connected to my voicemail for several seconds before it disconnected. That's when I decided I was intentionally putting myself where my phone shouldn't work, I should stop trying to make it work!

For you guys that use the Sprint Zone app, what permissions do you have under your sprint.com account (log in to sprint.com > My Preferences > Allow access to my account > Permissions column)? Support is telling me to take my phone into a service center but to me this seems more like an account provisioning/access issue. My permissions are: Manage users and account Allow access Change plans Add a phone Pay and update your bill See minutes used Check upgrade status

For some reason I've never been able to use the SprintZone app. What little of it I can see looks nice though! One of these years I'll get around to calling Sprint, but with the app being pretty bad in the past I never had much of an incentive to want to use it vs the mobile site in Safari.

I'm loving this app! It's so great to have easy access to the LTE band I'm connected to while B41 is making it to more and more towers. Unfortunately jailbreaking isn't an option for me and I'll sorely miss this app when you graduate from deploying on a beta platform to Cydia or the likes. I hope someday Apple allows 3rd party developers access these API's and an app like this can exist in the App Store.

I've been patiently waiting for July to become upgrade eligible and get an iPhone 6. I logged into my account to pay the bill and Sprint had a notice up saying I could Easy Pay or Lease a new device today. It works out close enough in price over two years that it doesn't really matter if I select Easy Pay or a 2 year contract with a subsidized device. Needless to say it was a very easy decision for me. I should have our iPhone 6's later this week! I'm liking this "new" sprint. Proactive steps like like this to get more people on B41 devices makes a lot of sense to me.

I decided to pre-order one of these devices tonight. Thanks to Marshall for the referral code to knock $10 off the total, making the device $89. I was just browsing around my new account on their site and discovered I completely overlooked the sharing aspect of their service. They don't seem to promote it much except in the help pages. It looks like all of their devices run open wifi with an (somewhat) unchangeable SSID that anyone can connect to, login with their Karma account, and establish a data session using their own data bank. This may be a deal breaker for me with the service. I suspect one may need to authenticate to Karma through the browser every time the data session with the hotspot expires (I have not found with 100% certainty that's the case yet, but that would not be great when it's being used by kids) and I have a preference that my devices are within their own WPA2 protected network.

To expand on this a bit, my company decided that Active-sync alone didn't sufficiently meet some regulatory requirements we must meet. In our implementation, our Good server interfaces with our Exchange environment within our data center. It has replaced Active-sync for mobile devices. Outside of our data center, I don't know what the Good setup looks like, but from casually talking with a couple of my colleagues, I feel it does work similar to the way KD8JBF has described. We have a high number of Sprint users in my organization due to the fact we used to issue Sprint devices to all mobile eligible employees and Sprint has DAS system's in all of our buildings, making them the only carrier to work consistently across our facilities. Others received the letters and we're all a bit confused at this point as well.

Another user here whose employer uses "Good." My company ditched issuing corporate owned cell phones and switched to a stipend model several years back. They just lowered everyone's stipends a few months ago and I bet the stipend will barely cover this charge alone! It looks like the letter says December 31, 2015. I can't believe they've given over a years notice for this.

This company put the fiber network down in our neighborhood around 2007 if I recall correctly. I don't think they've been installing fiber in their existing footprint recently though and my bet would be that's because they've done docsis 3 instead.

Not to sound like I'm bragging or anything but next year I'll be in a situation where there will be two 1gig internet providers in my neighborhood, Google Fiber and this company, CCI. I called to upgrade to CCI's 1gig internet but elected to wait for the time being. I have my contract set to expire with them mid next year which should be about perfect timing for the rollout of Google Fiber. I'd have to extend it to switch up and honestly I've yet to find my 100/100 service with them to be too slow.

Are you in an fiber or DOCSIS 3 area? The 1 gig internet is only available to neighborhoods they've ditched the coax and ran fiber to the home.

You'll have to follow-up with how you like it. I've been considering getting one to replace my Sprint hotspot. We usually only use it when we travel so we have months where we never turn it on and months where I wish we had a higher data cap on our plan. Given our sporadic usage, I figure my family would probably save money over the course of a year or two with the Karma go even though the cost per GB is considerably higher. However paying Sprint every month for a data allotment on months we don't touch the device seems kind of silly.

I just hit submit on a 64GB iPad Air 2 w/ cellular. It will replace a 16GB WiFi iPad 2, so I think this should be a very nice upgrade in terms of performance. My frugal side was tempted to get an iPad Air 1, but I hope to get another 4+ years of service out of this device as the iPad 2 did for us. I was really on the fence on spending over $100 for the cellular option. Like nobius above, this was compounded by having no clue how much the prepaid plans cost when using the Apple SIM (although, a very cool feature nonetheless) and that I have a Netgear Zing for mobile WiFi already. I've already been thinking about replacing the Zing with a Karma Go as we have months where we use 0 GB and others with heavy traveling where I wish we had more than 6 GB. Decisions Decisions!

LOL. That's very good info there. It always amazes me how many specific areas of the network have been addressed on this site.

I'll have to keep an eye out on that section the next time I drive through that area. The one I've noticed is at the IA/MN border. There's got to be 25 miles between the two towers there! I don't recall the history, but I'm going to guess these areas may have been built out by a former affiliate and some of the large gaps in towers could possibly have been between native/affiliate coverage areas or just a lazy/cheap affiliate.

Not that the official announcement means everything, but it's good timing nonetheless. I ordered a tri-band hot spot and it should be delivered today. I can't wait to see what B41 coverage is like around my area.

Is the 5 compatible with 800 SMR? I'm thinking only the 5S & 5C are. Regardless, I'm looking forward to some 800 action. Hopefully sooner rather than later!

Thanks! Over the past couple of weeks I've used the PCI on all the towers around my house to figure out which one I connect to, I just hadn't put the pieces together. As of a result of that, it turns out there are 4 towers closer to me than the one I connect to, which really surprised me.

Hi Dkoellerwx! I've been following your threads and really admire the work you've put into them. I'll have to admit though, I haven't yet read about the data you're looking for; ie. where to find it and what it means. I'm sure it exists somewhere in this forum, so forgive me for asking, is this something I can view from an iPhone?
